  1. You're just jealous of my loincloth collection. @ghostwheel - you may find that those of us who have been on this forum for too long may tend to slip into "in-jokes" that aren't intelligible to others. This can be very rude and make newcomers feel excluded, so feel free to either ask WTF we are on about, or tell us to stop. Or both!
  2. We are now at double the original sale price of the Ripper. 🤯
  3. Welcome aboard! Your English is fine, my German is unspeakably bad!
  4. Ooooohhhhhh. That is nice. 5x my current permitted budget, but very very nice. GLWTS!
  5. So now you would still run across a major a-road to avoid us, but would put up with the pedantry until the motorway had cleared a bit? Bumping bump.
  6. Cross posted a link to Daily Awesomness, because it is awesome.
  7. <Thread derail> I have just spotted this in the background of the photo on the first page. Making an adapter so a Zoom H4n fits into a microphone stand is a great idea. Why didn't I think of that and save myself from lugging a tripod about for the past 10 years? Thanks Andy. </ End derail>
  8. https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/mark-clark-3 Link reposted to save anyone having to search back.
  9. I think Nick Knowles may be on Strictly this year, but I'm not sure You mean the DOI? Shhhhhh....
  10. A little late to the thread but I've chipped in. You realise @AndyTravis that you can now never sell or part with that bass? Future archeologists will be wondering why, in the 21st Century, a man was burried with a Gibson Ripper, and concluding correctly he that must have been a man of great stature in his community.
  11. That's a very neat conversion indeed. GLWTS 👍
  12. What, and spoil a great weekend by giving myself a an even bigger inferiority complex? 😉
  13. The most encouraging thing was a comment made by a friend and great musician at church when I first took a borrowed bass to him and asked if he could show me how to play. "Yep, you're a bass player". He died not long afterwards and I am still trying to live up to that statement seven years later.
  14. Welcome aboard.
  15. Welcome aboard.
  16. Genius idea as it is, " I bought an Ashdown amp as a present to my beloved Ibanez" is not going to fool anyone! And I don’t actually understand what @OliverBlackman has bought, so on that basis he must be guilty of something 😁
  17. That is lovely!! If it sounds anywhere near as nice as it looks (and I bet it will) that's a keeper.
  18. Church Weekend away this weekend. Our sound man wins the best t-shirt competition by a country mile!
  19. A desktop only web site that doesn't work on a phone. How quaint.
  20. Acid Skiffle!
  21. Welcome aboard! Nice collection of basses. Loads of helpful people in the Repairs and Technical thread here can help out with rewiring.
  22. To answer the question @Chienmortbb dare not ask. The Pro had a slightly rubberised outer case. Over time and use I managed to get marks on it that wouldn't come off, so I used the alcohol wipes I use to clean bass strings and wiped the case clean. DO NOT EVER DO THIS! It cleaned the marks, but then softened the stuff they had put on the case and it went really sticky and unpleasant to touch. i couldn't remove it with scraping so I had to dismantle the thing and soak the affected parts in meths*. All ready to go back together now.
  23. I have a Zoom H4n Pro in bits with the outer case parts soaking in methanol to remove some very sticky gunk.
