  1. TBH, totally agree. If someone equates mini skirt with prostitute or see through top with call girl it says more about them than the person wearing it. I've not seen footage of Blu in anything other than clothes a 20 something might want to go out in. Even if she did anyone can wear what they like to promote their image. Jonny
  2. I think any equipment that doesnt impact negatively on the performance is fine, this includes sheet music, lyric sheets, stands, ipads. I mean if you have a sketch of a couple of songs from a 40 min set and it doesnt affect the performance not an issue, in the same way someone bends down to fiddle with a distortion pedal delaying the start of a song, then adjusts it again delaying the next song would be a problem for me. Jonny
  3. I dont think she has been given a signature bass because she's beautiful, she's been given a signature bass because fender will sell them, its that simple. Like anyone in the music business shes using what shes got to create a career for herself so fair play. Young girls don't watch her stuff/stream her songs because they find her attractive (although maybe some do) its because they like it and maybe, just maybe they can now picture themselves doing it. Thats brilliant if you ask me. I've listened to a couple of clips, its not for me, so i wont listen to more. But at least the bass is a properly developed bass, not just a standard jazz in a different colour. Good luck to her, anyone inspired by her and if you buy the bass I hope it plays well for you. Jonny
  4. I love my Newtone platinum strings, all round core nickel plated, on my 4 and 5 string basses. They sound and feel great. Jonny

I like it, has some nice alterations too...I was expecting a PJ stock as is. Pleasantly surprised with the spec. Looks and sounds good. Keanu seemed really nice and un assuming. Jonny
  10. i love this blue colour, fabulous looking bass. bet it sounds great too. jonny
  11. Lovely looking bass. I love the recurve shape, my favourite of the ACG shapes…
  12. Good luck with the audition. My thoughts are, if these things arent permanent (I dont know enough to know) then its down to how much you want to be in the band. If its not permanent then if you feel comfy go for it. Is it any different to changing your hair, clothes, gear for a gig? not really. If its permanent and thisis a dream gig, its your call. Its a entertainment industry after all. Enjoy. Jonny
  13. To be honest, its more my irrational fear of being interrupted and not getting back to finish the nails... Jonny
  14. I clip my nails every 7 days. Both hands, right hand first, just in case I cant finish at least my picking hand is done Jonny
  15. Which is how I have heard of Charles, Davey504(not sure thats right) and Danny Sapko, watched half of a davy504 reel and it was really not my thing. I haven't watched any more, when they come up I don't watch them, as I know its not my thing. Watched a couple of Charles B ones, his, I don't mind. Jonny
  16. As the article Lowdown posted shows, Spotify pay less that the other platforms mentioned, in some cases 50% less, I'd say that backs up not my feeling that they aren't paying their fair share. $0.005 for 1,000,000's of streams would be plenty, and you have a bigger chance of that if you market yourself well. Jonny
  17. Cheers for this, good article, it does state that Spotify pays less than the other streaming platforms. Which i think backs up my not fair share, and I didnt even have to ask Karen and Dave on facebook
  18. Sorry I cant agree with "has done more for music than anyone else" more than the inventor of any recording media/equipment? Leo fender? Any artist who has innovated and created a style? nope, he's a distributor, thats it, very successful but just a distributor. In 100 years will remember spotify or him? I wouldnt think so, they might have an electric guitar, a john coltrane album on some format and maybe even an antique collection of CD's though. There is no doubt he's facilitated people hearing new bands but he's also IMO not paying a fair share, so these people may end up in an unsustainable business model. John
  19. Genuine question, If people dont like something, why watch it? There are things on youtube I know I wont like, there are short videos I know I wont like, so i don't watch them. I have watched a couple of videos by Charles and Danny, decided I don't mind Charles, not too into Danny (doesn't mean I think theres a problem with Dannys content btw) but I don't feel the need to watch things I know will annoy me then post about how annoyed I am on the internet. Anyone who is making a living from music is doing great and fair play to them, except the dude that owns spotify...cos that doesn't feel like a fair split of money Jonny
  20. At times when the forum debates guys like Charles or Davy504 or Danny Sapko i wonder if Im just from a different generation. The way i see these guys is they are related to music in the same way the football freestylers my son watches on youtube are related to pro footballers winning the euros/world cup. Its a related but slightly different thing, i wouldnt want these football keepy uppy guys playing upfront for my team, but i'd happily watch a 6 minute video where they use only their left ankle to knock the ball over the goalies head. Like wise i can watch these youtube videos, admire the technique and skill, but I'd rather stick on a nice jazz album I got from the record shop that listen to it with my morning coffee. As a day job for a bass player (i have no idea if these guys do much in the way of what we'd think of as traditional bass playing) it seems like a bloomin good one to me. Fair play and Im all for them. Jonny
  21. I had always just assumed he was inept when it came to running a business/building instruments. turns out there are more areas where he's lacking Jonny
