  1. Indeed, but I'd try installing the 2.52 software to see if it is the same result. If 2.82 is not compatible it might not see the device. If he gets the same result with 2.52 then I'd suggest it needs to go back :).
  2. From the Line6 documentation you can't go straight to 2.82, you at least need to do 2.80 first. Personally I'd upgrade to 2.52 first. Then 2.80 and finally 2.82. https://uk.line6.com/software/index.html
  3. What version are you trying to update too? I read in the read me's that you have to go 2.80 before upgrading to 2.82. My HX FX came pre-loaded as 2.52 I think, I followed that path and it worked fine. If you are down at 2.3 I would try and get to 2.5 first, then 2.8 then 2.82. Does the PC/Mac recognise the unit as being attached - I.e. its not a simple USB cable issues?
  4. I think this was part of my problem, I'm running some of my effects on parallel lines to retain a nice clean bass tone, I think I probably need to boost the FX line and add an EQ to it to bring it out in the mix.
  5. I had an interesting experience last night with my new HX FX. I met up with a guitarist and drummer I know last night for a bit of a jam at the local studio. I'm not a super big effects user so I've clearly not got something right but I found my chorus and filter effects, and actually even my fuzz presets were just lost in the mix. Any tips on making them come to life more in a live band setting ??
  6. I'm currently bandless and love it :). but I do understand the challenge. The band I was in had a fantastic lead guitarist but he was forced to leave due to personal circumstances. As a small local band we really struggled to replace him and the band drifted in a half dead state for a long time afterwards. I eventually recruited a work colleague of mine to replace him, but that was a bit of a disaster too. In the end I also had to leave due to personal circumstances and although not officially disbanded and they did actually find another good player I don't think they've done much since. As said above sometimes it's nice to draw a line under something and venture out on a new project.
  7. My wife had a parcel delivered to my parents house whilst we were away in Wales. Unfortunately the DPD delivery was scheduled to take place the day they drove up to meet us. Rather than leave a Missed Parcel note, they forged the signature of my mother and left the parcel in the recycling bin. Luckily the recycling van wasn't due for a few days, but what if I my parents had arranged for a neighbour to put it out?? I appreciate the comments about the pressure they are under but the level of dishonesty they display is a joke. I'm rapidly getting to a point of no more mail order and no more BC purchases unless I can pickup the item in person.
  8. Was more curious as I saw it was Ash (which I assumed to be Ash Ash as opposed to Swamp Ash). Assumed it would be heavier.
  9. Ooof. That's a splendid beast, wish I could justify the need for it.
  10. This was the amp head I always GAS'd for when I bought my first proper rig, unfortunately it was just outside my price range so ended up with a GK rig. I loved my mini Eden Combo.
  11. Looks like they also do a set of Classic 74 pickups, at £85 they seem like good value.
  12. Evening chaps. Has anyone changed out any of the pickups on their sandbergs. I don't love the oversized poles in the Sandberg pickups in my VS4 and am thinking of changing it for something more traditional. Any recommendations, the usual suspects would include: * Seymour Duncan SPB1 * Delano PC4AL * Nordstrand NP4 Vintage * Black label V4's (though I cant find anywhere that actually has them). Also be interested in knowing if anyone has tried some of the boutique English brands * Bare Knuckle 58 Split Coil P * Monty's Guitars Retro Wind P * Aaron Armstrong custom wound Thanks
  13. Jon sent through some options for the control layout - what do you reckon? Opt 1. Opt 2. Opt 3. Opt 4. Opt 5.
  14. Thanks Eude, I was a bit nervous how the birds eye maple fingerboard was going to work out with the elm drop top but it all seems to have pulled together really nicely.
  15. 3x VM's? Do you use the same strings across them all or do you have them set up differently?
  16. The CTM-100 not satisfying your tubey needs?
  17. Apologies if this has already been posted but I was looking for ideas around the synth and filter effects. This guy has done some demos that sound pretty good and has shared some ideas around settings (all be it on some of the legacy models) https://idogomusic.com/bass-synth-pedal-line-6/
  18. Picked up my HX Effects from PMT Oxford earlier today. I've run through the firmware updates and had a quick play, first impressions are really positive - quality of some of the patches I've tried are excellent (Octave, Overdrive, Fuzz, Chorus).
  19. Thanks for taking a few pics whilst you were at Jon's today @Muzz
  20. Ha ha. I was seriously looking at the Stomp but was thinking the 3 foot switches would just about do it as long as I had the EQ and Compressor in a block outside the foot switches, but really I would prefer 6 to replace my current board like for like. Then I wasnt sure how often I would use the amp/cab sims (though the SVT ones sounded good). The HX Effects just seemed to make more sense for my needs, and was down to £350 in the PMT Black Friday sale. They also have a 14 days return policy too so if I don't like it it goes back. Going to pick it up this morning, expect to see me on the other thread tonight :).
  21. I seem to have accidentally ordered and HX Effects and listed all my pedals for sale ;/
  22. PMT had a good Black Friday offer on the Helix HX Effects multi-FX pedal, which I now seem to have ordered.
