1.
I'm not even bothering to enter this one. Full Naval pension in August though
Peter, has anyone ever pointed out your massively over developed left hand.
2.
+1 for the value - unless left handers command a premium, and + 1 for Chingo123 too. Nice man to deal with and he offers different speed/cost of shipping too. http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/chingo123/
Good afternoon Sir, did you ever get anything from him?
3. On the level, 42. Did you see what I did there. Coat, on, Door, slam.
4. Hi Paul, the build quality is top notch, much better than US Fenders. The neck especially has a great feel, with the gloss neck, fretting is great and the nut is well fitted. The general fit and finish all over is excellent, with good quality wood and a great paint job. I think mine is 1999. When I got mine, the action was very high, so began the long process of adjusting the truss rod, which is a pain because you have to take the neck off to do so but once this is sorted the bass plays really well. I was suprised how light mine was and this has benefits to its tone. Played acoustically, you can feel the bass pulsing, when you plug in, it has a superb low end and it can give you that tone that all Jazz Bass heads crave. The bridge lets it down a little because it's the vintage design, so I found that it could sometimes rattle when certain notes were being played and the saddles could move around. Like all Jazz Basses, the A and D strings sound a little quieter because of the camber of the neck making the A and D strings further away from the pickup than the E and G, Fender call this the classic fade. So to remedy these little faults, I fitted a Badass bridge, EMG pickups because they have a curved blade that follows the camber of the neck, thus giving an even string response, I also fitted a John East J Retro preamp (all of these where sourced second hand on Basschat). Played live it sounds amazing and can cut through anything to be heared and felt. Before the modifications it did struggle with notes played on the A and D strings but fitting any pickups that can cope with the vintage camber of a Jazz neck, which is a radius of 7.25 inches, where most modern basses use 12 inches radii can sort this out. Here's some pics before the modifications. I think the price they're asking is a bit steep but these basses seem to be getting rarer as it's hard to get them out of Japan. I think it should be more like £500-550. I was lucky and got mine from an Ebayer in Japan, his name is chingo123, he has basses all the time but usually all right handers. Hope this helps you, let me know if you need anything else. Steve.
5. Looks like mine, so it should be ok.
6. Adz put it on http://www.leftybass.com/ you may have a good chance there. If I could afford it, I certainly would but I'm brassic.
7. I've tidyed up since then...not.
8. Nice one Kev, I'd love one of these.
9. What an amazing day, roasting in the garden, so instead, I'll post this. Aguilar DB680 preamp, QSC PLX3102 power amp, 3100 watts @ 4 ohms, Tech Soundsystems XT610, 2100 watts @ 6 ohms. The whole thing weighs just over 100 lbs.
10. Hi Jamie, I play a lefty bass and have set up and fret dressed hundreds of basses, both left and right handed. There is no difference at all, the same methods are used, setting of string height (action), altering the tension of the neck in relation to the pull of the strings (this works in conjunction with altering the height of the bridge saddles to get the action set) and the intonation. You will be able to do all of these yourself, with a bit of experimentation. If you need any tips, PM me. Steve.
11. Anyone who can plane a neck straight with a Record Flat, is a total dude.
12.
Some neck based construction for y'all. All photos from the Crimson Guitars Build Diary
That big can of lemon oil is making my tongue swell.
13. Niacin albums are much better, they totally suprised me, organ, bass, drums, super-duper.

15. Peter Wyngarde rules.
16. That position of the bridge is playing tricks with my vision. I relation to the bridge pickup which seems low on the G string side, compared to the E string side, looks wonky to me, hope it's the pics. Steve.
17. Whaaaaaaaat? I missed out there big time.
18. Hi Alan, who bought it?
19. Yeah, what he just said, plus one. I'm made up for ya.
20. £170 for the pups, errr, £30 for the rest, errrrr, errrr, errrr, NO BRAINER.
21. I miss mine, my first bass, £99.
22. You f***in' rule dude, get serverely down.
23.
Has anyone on the forum ever tried an Ashdown Klystron amp or cab? I was looking at the specs the other day and they look more or less identical to the ABM series yet they cost a fair bit more. They look nicer than the ABMs but surely there's more to it than that?
You look like somebody I know, who has a similar bike, Ozzy Q?
24.
I think it's down to people's favourite jazz sound - I like Tal Wilkenfeld's Sadowsky jazz sound, for instance. Have a listen to this... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mIFFRHBCPzA
Well, feck me.
25. Do you use a PC, or a laptop? I have an EMU 1212 with Cubase and loads of other software that I may be selling. This is a sound card, well 2, that fit inside your PC, with zero latency.
