1. So does my wife. Small world n all that.
2. Absolute sh*t for those who want a "gig ready experience" bass. I love Fender basses but this is a bridge too far, as are all reliced basses. I wonder if they are dividing the premium with the Mexican staff?
3. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-Fender-Road-Worn...ItemQQptZUK_Mus How much?
4. Genz Shuttle just didn't sound anything like a bass amp to me. No breadth, presence, ability to shift air with weight, A good bass amp makes a gig move, a good PA makes a big gig move.
5. I find it a little sad that they slag off bass in general but looking at all the old stagers on show, mildly satisfying. Roger Waters is a nasty bassist, what a live tone. 6.
I always hated NME with a passion. Sh*te rag about sh*te music. It's a publishing tragedy that SOUNDS and Melody Maker died off and NME survived somehow. As a yoof I worshipped the altar that was SOUNDS. I probably still have a big pile of them in the loft ....
Do you have Sept-Oct 1990 issues?
7. Dimbag, you da man. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NB_GGdXCVB0...feature=related
8. I like Claber, he's a straight talking Mother and I like his returns policy.
9. I love this vid, so musical, a totally non-testosterone bit of slap.
10. I saw them at Manchester Poly on the Vivid tour. They were brutal. Ended up missing our last train home to Liverpool and had to sleep in a cardboard box in some care park, happy days.
11. Do it. You seem to have a deep understanding of the chaotic beauty of music.
12.
Muzz Skilling's fretless solo on Living Colour's Broken Hearts is my favourite. Very tasteful and soulful IMO.
Good call.
13. The Stranglers "Tits". At 3 mins 32 secs. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dbJeNeenpSs
14. Check out its 20 loudest bands bit. Gotta love a bit of Butthole's and Sunn (((O))).
15. They are using exactly the same photos, how very odd.
16. Hi ya, 41 is not old. Advice, mmm, play along to all of your favorite stuff and you'll soon learn where to put your fingers as you ears will train you. Do this with a basic theory book and rock on daddy-o. \m/.
17. Wow, http://acapella.harmony-central.com/showthread.php?t=1438898
18. I use a Yammy F -310, great guitar for the money but I want something with a wider spacing at the nut for fretting and at the soundhole for picking.7 mm at the nut, 10mm at the bridge. The ends of my fingers have grown over the years, part E.T. don't you know.
19.
Dr HiBeams. G.
Hi Geoff, have you got Hi Beams on a thru strung Ray?
20. See ya next week selling a Status and Trace rig. Only messing, come back stronger. Steve.
21.
Is there a real need to quote such a long post just for one sentence, Steve? No offense intended, just a little 'thinkabout'..
Yes, I think there is, Faithless.
22.
I'm starting this thread with the hope of compiling a valuable resource for the bass playing community. We all know how frustrating it can get when searching for your ideal tone, so wouldn't it be sick, if there was a f*** off encyclopaedia listing the rig's of every one's favourite bass players? So instead of spending endless days trying to find the tone you’re after, you could just have a mooch and find out the exact gear you need to get a certain players tone. As well some analysis of their playing style, you know a look and there technique and approach to the instrument. Let’s do it then! <snip> Alex Katunich; (born August 18, 1976) is the former bassist of Incubus. <snip>
Wow, that's a lot of information and effort, well done.
