1. Dirty, bedroom smell after sex-tastic.
2. Mr Foxen, I use a QSC PLX 3102, 3100 watts into 4 ohms bridged, running into my 2100 watt 6 ohm Tech 6x10", with an Ampeg SVT IIP at the front end, doom enough, if I so desire. Or 900 watts into the Tech and the Glock in stereo. Weighs 21lbs.
3. Alex, I'm thinking of getting an SVT 2 Pro and was wondering about the sound a vintage would give me. Would 2 Compacts give me more nastyness than a Vintage? Only problem with Compacts would be using one at 8 ohms would give the SVT problems, so I've probably just answered that one myself. Doh! Steve.
4.
Yes. I've had recording sessions start around that time, too. It's strange...
I've done recording sessions that have ENDED at that time, I remember feeling shell shocked.
5. THREE dots at the 12th fret? I've got the radio on at the moment and this is getting discussed at an emergency cabinet meeting live broadcast. Great work there Mikey, really well done.
6.
you could get a Trace Elliot V8, son.
Then he'd have two........and a Miss UK candidate for a girlfriend, (rummages in kitchen draw for something suitably sharp).
7. I like you Wayne.
8. f***in' Post Man Pat Red is one of the ultimate English basses ever built.

Love it.
10.
Blimey!! Well, its got a three year Thomann warranty so thats pretty handy. Despite fears about the move to Korea I haven't actually heard any horror stories.
It's more about the idea that manufacturing has moved to Korea from Vietnam, as a lot of people perceive Korean industry as technically superior. Jmesa, I tried a Mesa 400+ years ago but ended up getting an SVT II, have you a/b ed them?
11. Gets comfy........that's better.
12. Forgot about Johnthebass' mighty stack. Just musing about how my SVT-IIP/QSC PLX 3102 would sound into a Vintage, mmmmm. Did I just say that out loud, oh no, here comes Claber to tell me it's going to sound better than my Tech Soundsystems 6x10, then I'll have to buy one and sell the Tech, oh the hassle of it all.
13. Status Hot Wires have a taper, so a 130 will fit into these individial bridge thingimabobs.
14. Have any of you boys tried the Vintage with a big valve head? I'd be worried about the cloth, as drum hardware has a nasty habit of going in unwanted places when your packing down on stage.
15. Status strings have a taper, I've seen a 130 used on their bridges which I think are the same as the Shuker ones.
16.
Is the neck reasonably straight (bearing in mind that it's a budget model)? If it is then I'd have to go along with the neck shim. Also you'd probably be advised to try out some lighter strings - even some well chosen guitar strings if necessary - if she's only 8 she won't notice the difference and it will give small fingers an easier time. Biggest problem my younger students have is getting a decent note out of their instruments. Trust me, simply fretting notes correctly on a bass is going to be a big deal for an 8 year-old. The more help you can give her the better.
I totally agree with this. I try to set up the basses of my students to make life easier for them to get a good solid tone, when they can hear a clean note it gives a solid foundation to their playing. Lighter strings, neck shim and check the string height at the nut, on most budget basses it can be really high, you can sometimes just tap the nut out and sand it down a touch, every little helps.

Peavey gear

Mark 4 head into a 2x15 Black Widow cab, great.
18. Hi Rayman, it sounds great, can't wait to play it on Monday at rehearsals. Off topic a bit, Stockport is a nightmare to get through, heading to Buxton, I've never seen so many traffic lights and speed cameras.
19. Does anyone know where to get the foam mutes from. I have the sprung steel attatchment but there's no foam. Also does anyone know how to get rid of the smell of air freshener from the leather strap that came with it? I'm allergic to it and when I played the bass with the strap my lips and tongue started to tingle and swell. I know I could just not use it but it's a great comfy thing. Saddle soap? Cheers Steve.
20. What the hell does "post rock" mean. Pigeon holes really get on my thrippennys. Like the sound of the music though.

I think it was shocking how Bass Git Mag airbrushed his bags away, how dare they, Norm has paid for them in full.
22. Sell it, go on. You don't need a white one, I'll swap you for a sticky bun.
23. What do people think, is this worth a punt? Are they being made in Korea now, how reliable will it be and should I just replace all the valves if I get one? http://www.thomann.de/gb/ampeg_svt2pro.htm
