1.
That's great, I really like Cynic, managed to catch them on the reunion tour in (I think) 2007, unfortunately Malone wasn't on bass then - though whoever it was, was very capable. Thinking about it, if you're in Linear Sphere I'd have seen you supporting them? Was somewhere in Camden, forget the venue name. The note choice and technique in that video is exemplary, I loved the runs and chords he was playing, so tasteful and really served the song.
Hi Graham, yes we supported them at Dingwalls in Camden. Chris Kringle was playing bass on that tour and he is an excellent player too - he was also playing with them when I saw them back in '93.
2. I just found this and had to be the first to share it here: http://youtu.be/hq_DiR5frEA Malone, and in particular his work on Cynic's Focus album, was a major influence on me and is the reason I picked up both the fretless bass and Chapman Stick. I've ripped so many things from his playing - the Linear Sphere album is littered with them!
3. Some more PSP, on One Shot Not: http://youtu.be/hjOcuY-tjhk http://youtu.be/WeLmVWzRiY0
4.
I'm struggling to find a good teacher in East London/West Essex so I'm considering lessons via Skype.

Hope an East London tutor replies to this as it would be very useful for me too.....
Hi both, I teach and am based in south east London if this is of any interest to you? http://basschat.co.uk/topic/180288-bass-tuition-available-in-south-east-london
5.
Just found out I'll be playing every day at Glastonbury, and got three dates in Brazil before that, I get a proper fee too. Funny old world init
That's awesome, all with Sheema?
6. I will be playing with Anna Phoebe (Jethro Tull, Trans Siberian Orchestra etc.) at the Jazz Cafe in Camden on Friday, April 25th, supporting Joe Driscoll & Sekou Kouyate. Anna Phoebe: Joe Driscoll & Sekou Kouyate: Ticket info: http://mamacolive.co...-sekou-kouyate/
7. I am trying too but had no luck so far, getting tired of tickets appearing and then disappearing so will probably just give up soon.
8. The article is ambiguous as to whether this is about instruments in the cabin or the hold:
Under the revised regulations airlines must accept smaller instruments and clearly state the terms and conditions under which they are put in the hold.
9.
How did the fan club mailing list folk get on with ticket buying this morning?
I'm curious too as I will be part of the scrum on Friday!
10.
Blimey, I have an audition!
No moss on you mate, is there? Just followed the link and his name is familiar - does he/did he have a fusion trio?
11. Nope, I wasn't looking to add drivers. Paul only seemed to offer the service with UM, I'll have to check 1964's website out again as I can't remember if I saw it on there on not.
12.
Without trying to be too blunt, if you are really into your IEMs, save yourself the journey (and money) and pitch in at the level you can afford. A 1964 Quad for example, will blow away your TF10s in terms of sound quality and comfort. You cannot beat a custom fit either. It'll bring the bass levels up and it will feel so comfortable. No worries of them falling out or anything. Do it. I promise you won't look back.
Not blunt at all, it was the Quads I was considering actually. The long turnaround time Paul mentioned for reshelling the TFs with Unique Melody put me off and subsequent internet searching hasn't thrown up many appealing alternatives. At the moment I can't justify the outlay on a new pair of IEMs though so it's a case with making do with the TFs as they are (which I have to say are still far superior to what I have toured internationally with before!).
13. Yep, that connector looks right. I had a long chat with Paul at the Bass Guitar Show about reshelling the TFs vs. buying a pair of 1964s actually, hence budget being an issue on the cable as I'm on the fence a bit as to what to do next.
14. Somewhere in between perhaps? The sound of the stock one isn't the issue, it's the comfort - I need a much more flexible cable.
15.
http://www.toxic-cab...gory&path=59_71
Thanks for the link Russ. Anything, um, a bit cheaper perhaps?
16. Can anyone recommend a good replacement cable for Ultimate Ears TF10 in ear monitors?
17.
I've got one and they really aren't great, I just don't use it, the wheels try to fold in on themselves as you push/drag it, it's hopeless.
Yep, the same thing happened to mine. I returned it to the shop within a few days.
18. I'll echo what others have said above in that it is best to approach it as a new instrument rather than a variation of a bass or a guitar - once I did this I made much better progress, and indeed a big part of its appeal to me is that it allows me to play very different things to what I would naturally play on the bass. I bought mine from a college friend many years ago so was lucky to try it out beforehand, however as a big Sean Malone fan (and of course King Crimson too) I was determined to persevere with it even if I didn't take to it immediately. To the OP, if you can make it out to SE London you are welcome to come and try mine if you like. In the meantime, here is a clip of it in action: http://youtu.be/dmIim7rJP3w
19. I have a free weekend for once so will be around both days.
20. More positive feedback for Andy from me too - bought a pedal from him recently, very easy and straightforward transaction.
21. Sadly I am missing the London gig tonight as it sold out, I did get to see them at the Peel last time around though and they were superb.
22. More positive feedback for Gareth - I bought a gig bag from him last week and it's exactly as he described it. Wouldn't hesitate to buy from him again.
23. Anybody seeing Billy Cobham at Ronnie Scotts next week? I'm a big fan of Ric Fierabracci but not sure if I'm going yet.
24. You might find this of use: http://youtu.be/JrtoaB-hy5g
