1. Still available, make me an offer of cash or trades if you're interested.
 2.
Absolutley baffled by it but it's awesome all the same! I dont need the extra notes and all my favourite bands play P basses anyway etc etc
Ha, thanks! I remember being so reluctant to get a 5-string bass - I was perfectly happy with the constraints of 4-strings so I'm not sure how the leap to 10 happened!
 3. To add to the shameless self-promotion, the album is now out and the website is live at http://www.linearsphere.com More sound samples can be found at http://soundcloud.com/martin-goulding
 4.
This track reminds me of a cross between Trey Gunn, Steve Vai and Laundry (a Tim Alexander project).
Cool, I don't mind comparisons like that! Laundry is a name I haven't heard in years - I've got an album of theirs somewhere but I haven't listened to it in a long while, I'll have to go back to it now! For those interested here's a promo video of the rest of the album, the above track is the only one I play Stick on - the rest is on fretless bass:
Steve (stickman), being the hugely talented but very modest person he is, posted it in the little-read Stick thread in response to me asking to see it when it was ready. Silly sausage I just had to share it here.
Um, I'd also posted it in the Recording and Show Us Your Playing Videos threads so maybe not that modest! This one seems to be getting the most response so cheers Nige
 5.
This is the very reason why I'm unsure about getting a 12 string Grand Stick - I found I didn't use the really high notes on my 10 string so I could well find the extra two string don't get used & I'd also have the narrower string spacing to contend with as well.
Likewise, the narrower string spacing would definitely be an issue for me as I find the 10-string a bit tight sometimes, that's why I'd like to try a 10-string Grand one day. It would be nice to have an extra string under the left hand sometimes for chordal stuff but I've never missed it on the melody side.
 6. I've got 6 Metallica bass transcription/tab books for sale. These are brand new - I was given them by a music publisher I was working for and they have remained in a drawer ever since, therefore I'll offer them up for £10 each posted. [s]Kill 'Em All[/s] SOLD [s]Ride the Lightning[/s] SOLD [s]Master of Puppets[/s] SOLD ... And Justice for All Metallica (Black Album) Load
 7. Cheers guys! Glad you like it.
I'll admit I am not a fan of the 'I WILL KILL YOU'voice, but he sings nicely in the other parts.
Ha, I've never heard it described as that before but it made me laugh!
 8. Cheers Rhys. Dave Swift was selling his 12-string a couple of months back, I don't know if he's sold it yet but if you look for Jim Lampi on facebook he can put you in touch. Yep, mine has got the stickup - I've not tried any of the others but from what I've heard the stickup seems to be the 'classic' Stick sound. The strings are heavy gauge, they're a little harder to bend but I prefer the sound of them for what I do. For this track I had to lower the bass side a tone too so that I could get a low B but it doesn't feel quite as responsive so I may tune it back up. As for the melody side, I experimented with a few different tunings over the years but I settled on baritone as there was a nice crossover of pitches with the bass side so for the kind of 'interlocking' parts I like to play it works out nicely without my hands getting in the way of each other - I also found I was never using the higher notes.
 9.
Super! Looking forward to hearing that.
As promised: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dmIim7rJP3w

 13. Hey folks, some more promo for the new Linear Sphere album. On most of the album I play fretless bass but there's one track on which I play Chapman Stick - here is a play through of it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dmIim7rJP3w
 14. Here is a video of me playing through one of the tracks from the new album by my band Linear Sphere: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dmIim7rJP3w
 15. Hey guys, Here is the promo video to the new album 'Manvantara' by my band Linear Sphere:
 16.
It was f***ing AWESOME!!
Great! That bodes well for tonight then
 17.
In my opinion the chord symbol given for the V chord is incorrect- whoever wrote it out means b13, not #5.
Actually I think the chord symbol is correct but the on ledger lines they've mistakenly used the enharmonic spelling of Ab rather than G# - there is no other 5th present so it is certainly going to sound like an augmented chord. As I see it the lick in bar 2 is based on a Db diminished triad (i.e. starting on the b9 of the C7+5 chord - playing diminished over dominant chords a half step above the root is a very common device as I'm sure you're aware).
 18.
I'm seeing them in cardiff two nights earlier. VERY excited!!
Cool! Should be good.
 19.
It was only Wetton & Eddie Jobson from the original line up. Terry Bozzio is doing the USA & Japan dates, Gary Husband did the one British gig.
True, but I'd like to see Alex Machacek though.
 20.
We want reviews and pics now!
+1!
 21. I've just found out that UK played in London last Thursday (May 24th). Gutted I missed it, curious if anyone here went?
 22. I will be at the Islington Academy to see Gavin Harrison & 05ric plus Tony Levin & Pat Mastelotto on June 7th.
 23. On a major chord the perfect 4th (or 11th) is regarded as an 'avoid' note as it clashes with the major 3rd. The #11 is considered quite a 'hip' note to play though so it is often substituted in its place.
