In the Dead of Night is a great track I was jamming it the other day with the drummer from my band. But how can any mortal guitar player attempt to play those Alan Holdsworth parts?
-
Billy Cobham's drumming is amazing in this track.

I rarely shop in music shops but I think CC is excellent, they have some lovely instruments and never had a problem with the staff. Jimmy Egypt has set up a number of my basses and has done a great job. In the few times I've been in Merchant City I've always found them very pleasant but I've never really had a problem in any music shops. We have our own space but Berkeley is great and I like the guys up at the Practice Pad, great people nice relaxed atmosphere.

Hi folks Many moons ago another bass player at a festival I was playing at gave me a set of strings. I just found them and was contemplating putting them on my fretless, anyone recognise them? The are in a clear packet and say 'BEST QUALITY STRINGS' and have a a hand to indicate which string (see pic). They are flats very shiney with red binding. Too much time on my hands I know.
Maybe I would find it a bit more playable that a 4001/ 4003.
I had a terrible time initially with my 4003, just dreadful. I was all for selling it and banished it to a case in the cupboard. I took out a month or so ago and just loved playing it. It's pretty much my main bass at the moment it has a great sound and it's fun to play. I think it's a case of getting used to it's foibles and accepting that Ricks are a bit odd. There is the added bonus when I pick up any of my other basses they are so easy to play in comparison!

Too awful to look at. Nice case though.

Buy one, I've persevered and at this specific moment in time it's the bass I like playing the most. It looks awesome and sounds like a herd of wild horses revving Harley Davidsons in a canyon somewhere.

Cheers Chris I'll try Blue Aran the Rubber Feet suggested by Budbear are only available in the states. The Penn Elcom where very helpful and suggested another rubber foot but I have my doubts!

The irony being Penn-Elcom appear to be a UK company but you can't seem to get their products in the UK!
Penn-Elcom 9105 Rubber Cabinet Foot 1" Dia. x 0.85" H I did the same with my Streamliner and used these with great success. The washer is already in there and I had to use a longer screw; an M3 x 16mm did the trick perfectly.
Hi Budbear these look perfect where did you get them?
-
I fitted doorstops to the bottom of my Streamliner for the exact same reason. I put 2 or 3 small washers in each hole before fitting the bolts. I did this mainly so that the bolts did not protrude too far into the chassis, as it could be pretty catastrophic if they contacted a circuit board or mangled a component.
I intended to do that ensuring I can get a long enough bolt that fits but I was just thinking the the bolt wouldn't be anything like touching the sides of the rubber feet and i dunno if that would make it a bit unsteady or likely to break.
I just put 2 pieces of foam either side of the handle which lifts the amp up and also protects it from vibration.
I've got a couple of bits wood on either side at the minute and it's fine but I just became obsessed with these rubber feet and they have turned out to be sh*t!
-
Got round to buying some bigger rubber feet for my Streamliner so it can get over the handle of my barefaced midget. The feet are huge, however with big feet comes a big hole for a big screw. I imagine a washer will work at one end but is there any way I can fill the remainder hole? Maybe jam in the content of couple of boxes of matches?

Hi Selling my Wizzy 10 and backpack. A great little cab and really really tiny! It's been used but in good nick. The back pack has the odd fray here and there but that's all. Really looking for cash but might be interested in a micro amp, genz benz kinda thing. Here is what EA have to say: The Wizzy 10 is based on our legendary Wizzy 12, known for delivering "fliptop sound for the new millenium". The Wizzy 10 extends that tradition for smaller room gigs, acoustic and double bass settings and studio use. While the Wizzy 10 is capable of reproducing the low 'B' on a bass guitar, it also reveals the nuances behind every inflection in your playing, whether you're driving a bop quintet, or anchoring a folk duo. And at under 17 pounds, and small enough to fit in a Wizzy backpack, The '10' that will make you think twice before lugging anything else. Sorry about the crap pics!
