1. Allo a Longshot but does anyone know if there is a replacement for a retrovibe 5 string bridge. I imagine some drilling may be involved
 2.
Yep, sorted it from home PC. Looking forward to the CD...
Thanks very much I really think you'll like it! Be great to hear what you think when it arrives... Thanks again!
 3.
Good luck with the campaign! And well done on getting Malcolm in on guitar. Aside from being a top fellow, I always thought he was massively underrated. Is Dennis still your drummist? I used to work with him now and again on Runrig shows & rehearsals.
Thanks Simon, Malcolm is actually playing accordion which he is amazing at he plays on the same track as Jerry. Denis is indeed the drummer and if truth be told the boss! He is the guy that keeps it all together. He is away with Runrig at the moment.
Love your stuff and have a couple of your CDs. Just tried to do my thing but having trouble with the Paypal option. It maybe the work filters but will try later at home.
Cheers ead thanks for your support mate. I think this album is a cracker but it nearly killed us making it!
 4. Apologies for posting the Pledgeness so if it's in the wrong forum or contravenes the rules please remove it. My band, Abel Ganz, have just started our pledge campaign yesterday. It's the first time we've ever did one of these things and I have to say it's been a really good experience. The band have been on the go since the 80s and we are using pledge to fund mastering and CD production of our latest album. In my opinion the album is our best and is the culmination of about 6 years work (we are not fast). It has brass bands, strinq quartets tubular bells, horn sections, lot's of traditional instruments and long songs. We have been lucky enough to have contributions from some really amazing musicians including Jerry Donahue from Fairport Convention and Malcolm Jones of Scottish folk rockers Runrig so it's all good. It would be great if you could take a look at the video (we are generally much cheerier in real life but something about the camera going on!). Any advice on forums where we should be posting to or if you know a colony of proggers who might be interested in some really good prog rock please let me know. 5.
Kenny's Music Shop Glasgow has an amazing Tanglewater sale!
That's where I bought it. Very nice people... I'll definitely shop there again.
 6. And here it is!
 7. Bought the contemporary J 5. Tried it thought it was great and that was that £350 and a gig bag thrown in brand new. Honestly finish looks great not too heavy... pleased.
 8. Aria STB? looks nice actually.
 9.
I just found one of these, secondhand with a gigbag for £100. I put in a Delano pickup and a Sabre style pre and it's very good value
Hi rubis what is it?
 10.
I've got a custom made J5 and having tried out a Tanglewater version of it, it sounds very much like the custom. Yes, the Tanglewater is a bit heavier, but you're getting a great bass for the money IMO.
Cheers Louis that's good to know. I wonder if they would they would be more popular if they weren't a offshoot of an iconic British brand? I just think I can nip down the local music shop and get one for under 400 and sneak it into the collection and no-one is any the wiser!
 11. The Warwicks look nice I had a loan of one one many moons ago and I remember it being a good bass. I'm really looking at up to £400 so that's why the Overwater/Tanglewoods seem interesting and current deals on brand new ones seem to be quite good. Though I know they plummet in value. But the Elites and the Js have a fair whack off them at the moment.
 12. My stingray was very heavy that's why I got rid of it, however, I'm less troubled by weight as it's just for messing about in the house and recording. I thought the Contemporary Jazz basses looked excellent and the Aspiration Elites look nice as well. Just wondering why they are so cheap!
 13. Hi I'm toying with the idea of getting another 5 strings I sold my last one an SR5 a while back. I'm swithering between the expensive and the budget. I looked at a secondhand ATK 350 with upgraded Bassculture pups for under £300 but keep seeing Overwater/Tanglewood basses really cheap. I quite the look if the Contemporary J 5 and the Aspiration Elite. Coming in at £345 and £399. They seem to be very inexpensive for what you get. Anyone got any opinions I don't play a 5 string much but want something which is nice to play and usable.
 14.
Alan from ACG has built full custom in the past I'm sure it's worth an email to him.
Cheers I will I spoke to alan before and I really like his basses.
 15.
Jon Shuker has already made another Basschatter a brace of 4001/4003 inspired 6-string basses. I'd go and talk to him first.
Cheers that's great I just saw a pic on a earlier link.
 16. Thanks for the info guys really useful. To be honest I'd like a 5 string Rickenbacker but with a bit more flexibility but they are rare and by all accounts not very good! But I like that kind of look so anyone who has spotted something like that I'd appreciate a heads up I saw this but not quite sold on it Schloff and I've saw some rare ones that look a bit less of an homage and more of a copy.
 17. Hi Can anyone recommend a luthier who all make a custom bass to a specific design. There are great bass builders like ACG and Shuker but obviously they have models which you can add your spec to. I was wondering if there is anybody out there who would build a bass to a specified design or would build a bass as an homage to a classic and add their take on it. I'm after a 5 string and I know the look I would like but I just can't find them anywhere! S
 18.
er.. play it? Steve
Easier said than done!
 19. Just bought a viola.... f*** knows what I'm going to do with it. Looks nice tho!
 20. Just picked the novation up looks great, mint condition. Bloke who sold me it was very pleasant and had a veritable Aladdin's cave of vintage synthery, proper enthusiast.
 21.
I have one that I grafted into a set of bass pedals.
Lol what a great idea. I've been thinking of ways to mount the bassstation on a rack or something or those angled wooden end cheeks you get for synths.
IME - and its been a while since I played one - the Novation sounds are more biased towards the Roland (and Oberheim) rather than Moog so unless you can stack the voices in mono mode it might not be able to give you that classic Moog fatness. OTOH if you're not careful to Taurus can have a tendency to stomp it's massive sonic footprint all over the bottom end of the mix, so a slightly thinner sound could be a good thing.
Thanks for the info, an approximation of those old classic sounds will be fine. I looked at the Minitaur and it looked great but a wee bit pricey the DSI Mopho also looked like a nice machine. But this came up and it was very reasonable.
 22. Thanks for that. I've checked out some vids on youtube and it looks like it'll do the job. the manual will come in very useful I think!
 23. Hi folks I just bought one of these the original rack mounted thing. Anyone got any experience or opinions on them. I'm using it with a set of bass pedals to get an approximation of a Taurus, hopefully. I currently use a laptop and minimonsta but I can't be arsed setting it up all the time, not that it takes a particularly long time, just fiddling with the midi interface and I use the laptop for other stuff (typing this question fror instance) and would like to leave all the gear in the studio. Any info much appreciated.
 24.
but the socks are c. 2007 M&S Cool & Fresh with Stretch
I don't think 'toe cap' came in that colour for the 2007 and the finish seems a bit rough, look like copies to me. Maybe Aldis?
