I need to add one thing: TST (DI) plus the Fake Plastic Trees is an unbelievable combo. Sounds and FEELS like playing through a tube amp more than any other pedal combo I've used. It's a shame more bassists don't know about or use AK stuff.

I bought the DI version recently and really enjoy it for playing through cans. I generally use my LA-1A for a clean, tube sounding DI but I feel like the DI attenuates the highs a bit, and there's always compression. The Small Trees DI is smaller and maintains all the highs as well as warming up the sound to "fill the gaps" that solid state just doesn't do typically. It's not an absolute tradeoff for the LA-1A since both have their advantages. But in a nutshell, TST warms things up nicely. I had previously contacted Steve at AK and believe the version for sale here should be upgradeable to the DI version (same enclosure) and you may even be able to do it yourself with the parts sent to you.

Thanks Q for the head’s up. I have one already. I just need to pop it in front of my synth chain. It can help clean up and shape a signal quickly. — OptiFet is a great comp as well.

Someone wrote me on TB after I recommended he try this pedal: ”I actually just landed an Okto Nojs myself......and it's just perfect. Octave tracks amazingly and sounds great just as an analog octave. And A/Bing the Nojs with my Doom 2 - I think I may end up getting rid of the Doom and cancelling my Octabvre pre-order. Wow, still here? Methinks folks do not know what this bass can do. I have the 4-string version and the neck is unlike anything I've felt from Fender. Reminded me more of a Lakland. These have quite a cult following in the US. GLWTS, she's a beaut.
