Jazz

Come on I'll post mine too 2015 Fender Custom Shop Jazz Bass, based on the'64 custom model but with the added binding of the '65 and a flatter neck, similar to the Geddy Lee. For me this is "The Bass", it has everything I have always liked and wanted on a bass, looks great, plays really well and sounds even better! 4.
Massive price differences! £189 at GAK £130 at Thomann
Unbelievebable, I can't understand how it can be so much cheaper! I had seen their price already and if I were to order it, it would be from Thomann, have dealt with them in the past and their service was excellent.
Its nice that it has a blend and attack, but it looks like that LED is just to show if its bypassed. Its best to get a compressor with metering else its hard to dial in. Also separate threshold/ratio controls are useful. Id suggest maybe looking at getting a empress compressor, which has more controls and better metering, but still has a blend. http://www.ovnilab.com/ is a good resource for compressors.
Thanks for the advice, problem is I don't have enough room on my board for it ....and the Seymour seems easier to set up and forget.
  5. I'm on the market for a new compressor and I have come across the new Seymour Duncan Studio Bass Compressor. I like the idea of the blend, it's not too big and it looks simple enough for me to use ... Anyone in here using it? What do you think of it? Thanks!
  6. I can honestly say I'm very happy with my current gear and I'm pretty much GAS free!....well, pretty much When it comes to bass guitars, I have owned many, active and passive, cheap and expensive, and I got to the point I knew what I liked about each one of them but I was never 100% at home with any. I'm very particular when it comes to playability, instrument balance, tone, colour and other specs...so, knowing from experience what I wanted, I went ahead and ordered a Custom Fender Jazz bass to my specs. I've had it for a few months now and I can say that, for me, this is "The Bass"! It has everything I have always wanted on a bass and since then, believe it or not, I have even sold my '66 Jazz and my '65 P bass! As far as amp/cabs, I'm settled and well content with my Aguilar TH500 and Barefaced SuperTwin. This setup gives me plenty of power and a nice tone in a relatively small and light package. I have no problems keeping up in our loud rock band and it works great on the wedding/function band I'm in. Now I barely check the Market section and, when I do I don't really have GAS for anything. Well, a bit maybe, but just only for amps I'd like to try and see how they compare to the TH500.
  7. Interesting... I've just downloaded the free demo and seems to work fine on iPad
  8. I'm with the OP....and there's no need to justify yourself, you just did the right thing. It is completely unacceptable for any parcel to be delivered this way, luckily it wasn't damaged but it could have well been.

  10.
I've never encountered this myself - but then I only ever upload original tracks and suitably mangled remixes to SoundCloud. I'm guessing it uses a some kind of clever detection software to identify licensed tracks (akin to that used by SoundHound). After a quick Google, I found their legal statement here: http://help.soundclo...-on-my-profile- "SoundCloud is using an automated content ID system that recognizes copyright protected content. If it detects copyright protected material in a private upload, it will be blocked." So there's your answer. My only suggestion would be to sufficiently alter ("remix") the content of the tracks you're covering or use another platform for sharing your music.
Thanks a lot Skol! That's me done with Sound Cloud the Any ideas on what other platforms people use for sharing their music? Not too keen on YouTube and recording myself on video.
  11.
when you upload the file you can set tags and change the copyright setting i set ours as creative commons for a list of 8 full song cover versions for our band - been there since november last year with no problems maybe check that its not set to some default setting and that you are actually claiming the copyright on an original song
Yes, I have tried so many different ways and I still can't upload them, from changing the copyright setting to giving the song a different name and no luck
  12. Yes, these are known songs from various artist (Bruno Mars, Chic, The Clash, Stevie Wonder, Lenny Kravitz, Jamiroquai....) where I have overlayed the bass on the original song.
  13. I have set up a Soundcloud account with the idea of uploading bass covers I have been recording. The aim is to use it kinda like a portfolio for function/covers/dep work so when someone asks me I can direct them to my page and they can have a listen to my playing. So far every song I have tried uploading has been removed for copyright issues, is this not allowed or am I doing something wrong?
  14. Nice looking and lovely sounding Bass you have there James...Congratulations!
  15. This week for our function/wedding band we've added: - Robbie Williams - Let Me Entertain You - Jamiroquai - Deeper Underground - A-Ha - Take On Me - Chic - Le Freak ...definitely all fun songs to play
  16. Wow, good work guys....sounds great!

  18.
Well, you'll be fine with the distortion module then, but isn't this a bit the same as a wet/dry mix? If so, all the effects have either this, or an effect level control...
Ah OK, great then..that's what I meant ...I only wanted to know if there's a way to mix both signals so you are not only running an effected signal.
  19.
If you can clarify how/what you need it to do, and on what type of effects, I can have a play...

If you can clarify how/what you need it to do, and on what type of effects, I can have a play...
Nothing really specific, it's just that I prefer the option to have blend on my pedals. I pretty much always have some clean signal running/blended with the effect/s I'm using, specially with the different flavours of overdrive/distortion, but with pretty much with any effect I use. Some people feel they don't need it but I do, it's how I like it.
  20.
Every effect has a wet, dry, mix or level, and on quick glance the B-Drive 21 distortion specifically also has a Blend and Presence... Maybe others too, will check later!
Thanks!...and yes, it would be great if you could check it, there's no info I can see on the owners manual. Blend is quite important for my needs
  21. Well, I'm starting to get some serious GAS now! Do the effects have the blend option?
  22. Jazz bass with round strings and a few pedals (Zoom B3, Deep Impact, Boss ODB-3). By playing with the pickup combinations, tone knob and the pedals I can come quite close to the tones from the different songs on our set list.
  23. Pedaltrain pedalboard and Gigrig Generator with Distributors is what I used. Neat pedalboard with tons of power
  24. Best one I have used it's the Gigrig Generator with Distributors. Pretty much you can run as many pedals from it as you wish...not the cheapest power supply but it's top quality. http://www.thegigrig.com/acatalog/Generator.html http://www.thegigrig.com/acatalog/Distributor.html#SID=24
