  1. So Arcade Fire swap the drummer as well. Is this the latest thing in displaying musical ability (bah humbug!)
  2. https://www.notreble.com/buzz/2021/06/26/the-fearless-flyers-lost-my-treble-long-ago-live-at-msg/ Looking at this vid, it is slightly odd seeing Joe move and the bass not..... It looks a good arrangement though. Anyone else use bass (playing) stands?
  3. If it's any help, I used a bike box from halfords (double wrapped) to get it up to big thumb, and kept the side grab handles of the flight case exposed, so the courier could use them (With lots of 'this way up signs')
  4. Shouldn't it be "Asphixiates from Boston.....10 letters?" I am really enjoying this thread by the way
  5. My very favourite Abba track, for the reasons you say. Did his Hagstrom have Di Marzio pickups to help the sound?
  6. So to ask a daft question, that's a very flat sound for a Stingray. How did he get that?
  7. I think I was that previous owner, and this amp is a beast. I owned it and took care of it for c 25 years (I have since become acquainted with an Osteopath mind). Bigthumb was a great buyer too. Given the amount of love on Basschat for TE, this should find a home PDQ. GLWTS
  8. What a great thread (and I'm a cat lover)! How about Dalmitrie? (my sister used to bread Dalmies) Loving the Greyhounds by the way (my cats wouldn't)
  9. I think you could do with an Alembic Mark King
  10. It's a bit like Bass Chat's version of the National Gallery, that we really want all of Pete's babies to come to/stay in the UK. Perhaps hopeful UK owners of Wals could now apply to the National Lottery for grants. Now that would turbo-charge second hand prices! GLWTS
  11. Vive la difference! (Joke! I'm really sorry the sale fell through, but it's a really good example of the mess we have got ourselves into)
  12. Difficult to say, particularly for a left handed bass. As a starting point there is a left handed MTD Kingston for sale, new at Bass Direct for £999.....(and it's been there a while) so that's the very top end! It's one of those 'beauty (and price) is in the eye of the beholder' things. GLWTS
  13. I cannot get over the 'wild dog' tone setting on these
  14. Am I allowed to quote a rival site: https://www.talkbass.com/threads/mtd-kingston-5-or-tobias-toby-pro-5.38925/ Gibson do not seem to cover themselves with glory, but I am sure beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It's a proper neck through body.
  15. It's got that Paul Simonon vibe about it....from a similar production era as these show:
  16. Did Trace Elliott put 12 sliders on their graphics so they could claim one more than Dynacord then?
  17. The bi line in John Entwistle's book says: "Too heavy to get off the ground but good for catching snakes"...so probably not a 32"
  18. Have you thought of one of these
  19. I just had a version of the same issue, upgrading my hifi from 35 year old student to the 21st Century. My ancient turntable is still relatively good, with a Linn arm on it, but a modern all singing all dancing amp required a pre-amp for the turntable. I got the Rega one, which sounds fantastic. I think vinyl sounds much better than CDs, although posh streaming sounds pretty good too.
  20. Am I missing something or is this an example of now you see Basschat Straplocks....now you don't?
  21. I've just been playing my own JO after some weeks of CS Jazz's and I still think these Laklands are better made basses with more attention to detail (other than artificial ageing). Have a bump!
  22. Has anyone watched this (from 4 minutes in). What a great ad for Wilcock basses!
  23. As someone with (hopefully) a real 1977 Lefty precision, this is wrong at so many levels.....I don't think any precisions had through body strings in this period. The Fender logo is not even an amateur fake. The Serial Number would have either been on the neck plate or at the top of the headstock, but not on the back of the neck. there should be some evidence of a pull/thumb bar (even if just the screw holes), it should weigh a ton, and even if it were real (which it clearly is not), even bad examples didn't have a neck joint like that. All of that said, if it were real, it should be worth about £2k
