  1. I think you got a steal! Enjoy😀
  2. That's a ringer for the Paul Simonon London Calling Bass....same year. Advantage is that yours is in one piece and maybe you could get arty with the scratchplate
  3. Antidote to big rigs...my humble set-up for our Cuban Jazz outdoor last night. Note Noble and Cali Compressor on the floor. Also DI'd through the PA
  4. I am loving the cover you have made for it. Are you a needlecraft expert in your spare time? The amp is brilliant too. I love mine, and everyone is right...it is not a quiet amp. Fantastic vintage sounds
  5. Bump for a great amp!
  6. Their video does look like the Marshall factory packaging area......very ACDC esque, but with no egos...as you say
  7. Spot the unusual cab in 'show us yer rig'!
  8. I believe that amp was mine for at least ten years. Bought second hand from the Bass Centre, and without doubt the loudest amp I've ever owned and very reliable. The only work I ever needed having done to it was to replace the fan, so should outlast most of us! For those with a back issue the flight case does have grab handles on the side GLWTS and love its replacement.
  9. From memory mine took ages to get through customs clearance. Anyway, I wish you much joy when it does arrive. I love mine and play through it nearly every day.
  10. And isn't the irony that Jeddy now owns most of pre-CBS everything Fender Bass? (or did he borrow them for his book?)
  11. Comes with a large pot of bostik
  12. Is it just me, or does this say Michael Jackson to you?
  13. Mine is fantastic, and I think I paid a bit more (albeit via the Bass Gallery)
  14. I thought this was a bit sad (but predictable of the music business....Quote from today: In 1989, Rourke and Joyce took Morrissey and Marr to court, arguing they were owed an equal share of earnings, having only earned 10% each of the group's performance and recording royalties. Rourke settled for a lump sum of £83,000, but Joyce persisted with the legal action and was awarded around £1m in backdated royalties, and 25% thereafter. Rourke later filed for bankruptcy in 1999. It's a sad day, and 'This Charming Man' is one of my favourite basslines to play, albeit I attempt to play it finger style...which is probably a mistake!
  15. A little funk jazz impro night then?
  16. That is a beautiful looking bass by the way GLWTS!
  17. What big, heavy, ideosyncratic and make an amazing amount of noise?
  18. I put up my hand and say I am not an electronics expert! I have a couple of Fender Custom Shop Jazz's which have relatively low output pickups and I find that pushing the signal through a Noble PRe-amp really gives that vintage sound. I have added a Cali 76 Compressor to even out the response of the strings and to help between styles of playing. At home I play the combination through a PJB set up including an Ear Box. At some settings of the Compressor there is a wasp like buzz from the Ear Box. I am pretty sure that I haven't bust one of the Ear Box speakers and I have changed over the valves in my Noble, in case one of them had gone. Can the Compressor attenuate unwanted harmonics from Valves? And/or are there particular settings of the Compressor that Is should avoid?
  19. Lakland are some of the best put together basses about and the Skylines represent pretty good value. Depending on the model they also offer a lot of P/up versatility.
  20. Do Lakland Skylines make the cut?
  21. Great minds think alike! Congratulations. I was drooling over the Demeter, and will just have to keep playing my R400!
  22. Can I be a heretic and say I like it more than the original
  23. I have sung a lot and played the bass a lot, but hardly ever together, for the reasons lots are quoting. I suspect the answer, as many have said already is practice, practice practice. The two most obvious examples of when learning behavior becomes learned (automatic) behavior are: learning to juggle (when its obvious the precise moment you go wrong because you drop something), or learning to drive. The point about practice is to get the pattern into auto-pilot, and sometimes it takes a lot of practice
