  1. Hmm. Hasn't visited since Wednesday and hasn't responded to any posts. May be all sorted. Would be good to know if we can stand down.
  2. I also have an SQ and it's a phenomenal bass. Previous owner 'JV'd' it, with reverse tuners and a older style bbot.
  3. You need to change your username to Bass Gibbon!!
  4. I'd put forward the same two candidates.
  5. Indeed. Many moons ago, I helped out a youth orchestra based in West Sussex. The man behind it was the head of music in the County. He was a cellist and could read anything put in front of him, faultlessly. One day I was noodling on an upright bass and asked what I was playing. I just said I was just improvising something and he was completely stunned that I could do that. A weird situation in which each of us was in awe of the other.
  6. Or 'good at metal'.
  7. I wouldn't really know the answer to the last two (as a number). For the music I play, the answer would seem to be 10 for each but I doubt the guys in the Mavanishu Orchestra would agree!
  8. Controls are volume, tone and blend. It has a piezo under the bridge and is active, for those that aren't aware.
  9. Absolutely love my fretless version. If I had the spare cash, I'd certainly have this. GLWTS.
  10. I ordered one of those 1983 reissues when they very first came out. I remember it was delivered just before a fire drill at work. They weren't impressed I took it outside with me. I sent it back because I couldn't live with the awful replica tort plate.
  11. Technically quite correct, but I believe the term was used descriptively in this instance.
  12. Thanks. I'm hoping so, with the Nordstrand/Stinger combination.
  13. I'm out (in a non-political way).
  14. I have played a fretless, on and off, for about 40 years. There have been times when I haven't owned one but now have 2, with my SUB Stingray about to be converted to fretless, with a new fingerboard. That'll make it 3.
  15. A brilliant deal for someone wanting to go digital. It has been revolutionary for my band, and improved the sound as much as it has simplified our set up. This is a step up from our Behringer, but the principles will be the same.
  16. Absolutely. I would certainly assist if the OP is in my part of the world. I think @Beedster asked where they were for this reason.
  17. The US suffix doesn't mean US built. Fender Japan made a version using alder for the body (and ash in some cases) and US spec hardware.
  18. I remember her voice being described as having warm chocolate poured over you. Wonderful description.
  19. One very important thing to remember is always turn the mixer on first and off last. Every time you use the system.
  20. The larger plates denote a model that has US hardware and a US spec pickup. It is alder where the other models are basswood. Enjoy whichever you choose.
  21. I would check out the PB70 first. Look on the back of the neck and see whther it has smaller tuner plates or larger. If they're larger (bigger than the Hybrid), I'd go with that, it's the PBUS model and has an alder body. I've not owned a Hybrid but I know the neck of the PB70 very well. It's my favourite and falls between a 'standard' Precision and a Jazz. However, if you can try both, buy the one that feels best. You can't go wrong with Fender Japaan.
  22. A warm welcome from the mainland (Waterlooville)!!
  23. Surely the dealer buys blnd?
  24. The famous (and compulsory for me) B profile neck.
