The thing I particularly like about it is how you can hear the 'arrangement' of the songs. The live versions are very well orchestrated.

A few already mentioned; Strangers In The Night - UFO Rockin The Fillmore - Humble Pie If You Want Blood - AC/DC Stupidity - Dr Feelgood Live - Sensational Alex Harvey Band Live In Europe - Rory Gallagher Live In The Air Age - Be Bop Deluxe

When the Covid goes, and gigs resume, what amp?
Steve Browning replied to barrycreed's topic in Amps and Cabs
As would anyone with ears and a soul. -
That wasn't Nigel Glockler was it?
-
They'll be great players but it'll be so sugary as to jeopardise anyone with diabetes.
-
I have to ask. Does anyone stay to the end of a Malmsteen gig?
-
Can I add one I want to leave early? I foolishly bought tickets for Michael Buble for last year and the show was rescheduled to 12th July at Hove cricket ground. My partner thinks he's great. I don't.

Two for me. Supertramp at Brighton Centre. Reminds me. 3. Meat Loaf at the same venue. Don't tell him but National Health at Lancaster Uni supporting Steve Hillage. Went to Victoria Park for the Rock Against Racism gig with the Clash and TRB the next day.

In my case, a machine head 'ear' sheared off when I was tuning before going on stage. Have always carried a spare from the day I could afford two basses. Couple of instances of crackly pots too.
-
I never used to, but got a second M-Pulse at a good price so carried that as a spare. Never needed it. Now I have a pair of TT-800s in the rack but haven't used either of them in anger.

That's an interesting cab. Not sure I've ever seen an angled front Ampeg bass cab.

How about the lady who's going to give hers so she can have hair like Claudia Winkelman?

Which drummer you would like to have played with?

Dave Mattacks is a very fine player for sure. I have had the pleasure of playing with him a few times. -
Basses made by SVL Guitars. Simon Law is Pete Townsend's guitar tech and an excellent luthier. He generally makes 6 strings (based on earlier employer Robben Ford's tele and Matt Schofield's strat) but he asked if he could make me a bass and these are using my 66 as the model. I didn't want to take the old basses on the road.

I must be so shallow. I look at a bass and think 'oh, it's just a Jazz' and then it's 'ooh but it's got a matching headstock'.
-
My trusty 66 Precision. The two pictures are about 35 years apart. I use my SVL's live but this will never go anywhere (until my eldest daughter inherits it).

They were called quarter pounders when originally released. Don't know when the name change happened.

Great question. Roger Taylor (Queen should use me as their bass player anyway 🙂 ) and I've always been a huge fan of Jeff Rich (from his days in Stretch). Some great names already. I think Simon Phillips would be good and Gerry Brown (played with Stevie Wonder). Here's Gerry Brown - if you can tear your eyes away from the backing singers. -
Decent musical output from a comedian

Neil Innes. Rutle and Bonzo Dog bandsman. -
It's a Fender Japan A/E fretless. It has a Lace Sensor in the usual position and a piezo in the bridge. The controls are (front to back) volume/active tone/pickup blend. Makes a great double bass sound on full piezo. Actually a very versatile bass. They did a fretless and a fretted and, as an HM model, a fretted and fretless with pointy headstocks. Only made for a couple of years I believe.

Which is exactly what it is, I believe.

New Mesa Subway head - Further update with added snake oil
Steve Browning replied to Steve Browning's topic in Amps and Cabs
Thanks Dave. I have to say, I'm very much an 'if it ain't broke' kind of chap. If you are happy with your sound then stick with that. Geography and circumstance combine to make giving my cabs a go impractical but you'd have been more than welcome to try them on a gig. -

Here is a review of the WD-800 and Subway 2x15. If you substitute the Bass 400 for the WA and the TT-800 for WD-800 you get my experience. I previously used the same Diesel 2x15 cab and now use two separate Subway 1x15s (the 2x15 wasn't available when I got my cabs). https://www.bassgearmag.com/mesa-boogie-subway-wd-800-bass-head-and-subway-ultra-lite-2x15-vertical-bass-cab/
