In the mid 80's I had an early Stingray. I didn't really get on with the pick-up placement (being used to the position on a Precision). I sold the Stingray to a chap I knew in order to buy my '66 Precision from a shop in Brighton. It was £260 and had been there ages, this was a time of headless basses. As he handed over the money I explained what I was going to use it for and it turned out he was selling the bass through the shop! To take things a step further, I was playing in a band around Brighton and a friend of the band came along one time. He was an ex bass player and explained that the fact it had SD scratched into certain parts was the fact that it had belonged to him (Steve Davy) and he had bought it new. He played in a band called Steamhammer and had used it extensively in that band - playing with the likes of Freddie King etc. I always love those stories of a small world etc.

That will be interesting. I would presume you've paid UK VAT so I wonder how they'll handle that.

I can only compare the sound of these two against the Diesel 2x15 that they replaced. To my ears, the sound is the same. Again, to my ears, my sound hasn't materially changed throughout my journey from full valve, through valve/mos:fet to valve/digital. That's been an entirely Mesa powered transition. That was (for comparisons sake) Bass 400 - Diesel 2x15 M-Pulse 600 - Diesel 2x15 M-Pulse 600 - Subway 1x15s TT-800 - Subway 1x15s

Yes, I may get some casters added to the rear door of the flightcase. It's more awkward than heavy (as you rightly say). Sounds ok, mind. 🙂

Have to say I found the Compact to be a bit too 'hi-fi'. Obviously Subway 15's all the way for me (but I am biased).

I had a Clearlink Send as the final link between the board and my amp rack. It was effective. I only got rid of it because my new switcher had that functionality built in.

I think that's a fair summary. The big difference is in the 2nd hand market (and increases the cost for buyers, in the EU, of UK stuff).

Maybe get them to dismantle the item and sell it in a number of small packages at £135 or less.

The visa bit is an inconvenience for sure but, as I have said, if the carnet is required you're looking at significant cost. It would be dull to have to arrange visas but a bit of time spent on-line would take care of it.

In fairness, this is a discussion on politicians rather than politics. I think it's fair comment to say that politicians, these days, exhibit a marked tendency to stay in post when they have done things that would have been career-ending a few years ago. I should add that this is not just the UK either. There was a time when openly mocking/imitating someone with a disability would have been the last time such a person was able to aspire to/hold any kind of political office.

I do play it a fair bit. My 'office' at home is also the 'music room' - the apostrophes are used to indicate the generosity of using those terms - and so my basses are all in the same room with me during the day. I will pick one up (or stand up) and plunk away when tax becomes too dull to contemplate!! 🙂
