Thanks for the update and many congratulations on getting that far.

The Southsea shop closed and Steve moved to Cosham. The shop is on the roundabout just south of PMA. Glad it turned out well.

A transaction that is everything Basschat is all about. A fellow BC'er who puts himself out to deliver a really good bargain, to a meeting at a motorway service station. A very pleasant chat (over a coffee and a calorific snack) with a knowledgeable and thoreoughly decent chap and a warm handshake (no, he'd not just been to the gents) before a parting of the ways. Thank you, Steve. Delighted to have met you. A real credit to this community.

I'm the same. I also have a tab on the spreadsheet that records when I restring them and with which strings.

I am hoping the answer's no, because - apart from a single puff on a joint in 1978 - I've never taken any form of recreational drug in my life.

I've just been to Steve's Guitar Centre and they no longer do tuition. Just up the road is the Portsmouth Music Academy. A rather grand title for a medium sized detached house along the main road. Have a chat with them, maybe.

A mate of mine managed a Polish band (the Poise Rite - great they are too). They were down to support Lenny Kravitz at a stadium. During their sound check, they were told to stop because Mr Kravitz was asleep back stage. They were then told that Mr Kravitz didn't want a support on the gig, so they didn't get to play at all. I fancy they were a trifle miffed.

I'm pretty certain that any reverse wind ones will be of the large plate variety, and the holes won't line up. The existing holes will be hidden. I have done this myself in the past. The holes on the right may line up ok.

1 pic shows an L series serial. That makes it 1965 I believe. No result from the Fender look up link, but seems it could be 1963.

You won't be surprised to see me mention Rotosound. I used them for years and then got a deal, not the other way round. I use Nickel rounds on the bass with rounds and Jazz for the others. Great strings and good value, too.

Similar thing here. A guy who owned two nursing homes. Must have spent most of the profits on a guitar collection and clothes. Trust me when I say no-one looked more like a great guitarist. Imagine a young Jimmie Vaughan making more of an effort. He was a shocking guitarist, mind.

Personally, no. You can't beat nature so I'm not even trying. If you get the gig, does that mean you're then on a perpetual treadmill?

People can get precious about it. After a few months, the local paper told my first band to change our name. Can't think why, the original Beatles hadn't been active for about 7 years at the time.

I did consider those, but didn't know how long the 'stick' would last. I do have other basses that I use that would benefit. I guess the oldies could have those, so they can be removed when necessary.

I went for large white on some and the Luminlays were the larger green ones - all on rosewood fingerboards.
