D channeling James Brown there; very nice. PP on Lakland J type too, rather than the P Bass.

That wouldn’t be out of place on a Steely Dan album. Like it.

I’ve been reunited with my custom Maruszczyks for the last 2 weeks, so now I have them, my Rob Allen MB2 and JMJ Mustang altogether with my Phil Jones rig. And which of them do I like and play the most (at least at the moment)? The little, scruffy, blue tart! I absolutely prefer it to my custom builds (the MB2 is a very different beast and doesn’t really bear comparison). Put through my Sadowsky preamp pedal and MXR compressor, plus a little roll back of the low mids on the amp and it’s just tone to die for. -

Now if this had been football, you know the current bunch of losers would've sorted a better deal. Cultural philistines, every single one of them! -
Two of Pino's finest moments with Don Henley (IMO). It's a shame that The Eagles are such A-holes when it comes to YouTube. Never mind, Spotify it is. https://open.spotify.com/track/1bg2g3QkmHuMriJCbinh8t?si=5257261e86da444c https://open.spotify.com/track/55K5KGZK2vEHPkiOe6kDQF?si=ac6f82870be54e7f

Their work is absolutely top drawer, you won't be disappointed. While you're there, you can browse their rather wonderful stock - it'd be rude not to. -
Ernie Ball proving once again that they won't admit when they've made a duff product and coming up with fanciful 'fixes'. For the record, my first 4 sets of cobalts were fault free. However, my 5th set (which were provided free of charge, fortunately) had this spotting issue.

I would recommend the Tech21 Bass Fly, but they are not cheap. Therefore, why not try the Valeton Bass Dapper, a fly clone at a fraction of the price? Speaking of Valeton, there’s on of their multi fx in the for sale section at the moment. I know nothing about them, however.

I’ve thought this for quite some time, they are certainly, as a minimum, their equal, as least in my experience at a bass bash a few years back. I’d love one of @Jabba_the_gut’s builds, especially now as I’m becoming more and more enthralled by short scales and he’s extremely adept at those.

Shame about the Mice (Mouses?). However, two JtG basses are more than suitable replacements.

When I scroll through the likes of Instagram, a lot of what I see is various players up at the dusty end, noodling away through various modes, or some noisy slappity, poppity nonsense (the kind of thing you hear at bass shows). That kind of soloing leaves me cold. This, however, is great because, although all the elements mentioned before are present and correct, he’s actually playing a tune. Proper structure, melodic ideas and rhythm, interspersed with some tasty fills. That’s how it should be done. Any solo that doesn’t reference the actual song, or isn’t a tune within the tune is pointless willy waggling. Thanks for sharing. -
Another voice of appreciation for what is natural colouration in the wood. I’ve had PRSs with more prominent discolourations in the top and the ebony ‘board on my Rob Allen has all sorts of changes in hue, they’re all part of being from a natural resource. Embrace the uniqueness.

Sshhh! You don’t want the rile up the locals and have them digging out their flaming torches and pitchforks. Head over to Guitar Chat for skinny stringed talk, there’s a few of us there too, but keep it on the QT. 😉

Do tell. Wilcock basses have obviously been reading my mind and have made one of their MMs in a trans, ‘burst finish. Nurse, nurse, the screens! I have raging GAS! -
That’s how we lure you in, wait until we fire up the pot with aromatic vegetables for ‘Ex-guitarist Stew’. What, we don’t do that anymore? Look, just because I peed in the broth when you tried to poach me is no reason not to try again with others who might not ‘leak’ as much; no fair! 😩

Ooh, I shall make myself comfy and enjoy this at a suitable time when I won’t be interrupted.
