  1. The song that contains more than its fair share of crimes against the rhyme (apricot and gavotte to name just one).
  2. Shaking The Trio - Peter Gabriel
  3. I Can’t Help Myself (Sugar Pie Honey Bunch) - The Four Tops
  4. What doesn’t he do well? A proper renaissance man.
  5. Did you get anywhere with this?
  6. Remember You're A Womble - The Wombles
  7. I tend to think the one finger per fret is something that bass players have inherited (for want of a better word) from guitar players. One finger makes sense for most guitar runs, but the spacing on a bass can make that very uncomfortable. For my part, when I was just learning to play guitar, OFPF wasn't a thing and I learnt to play in the most comfortable way, which was predominantly index, ring, pinky (it fitted the box version of a minor pentatonic). When I jumped ship to bass, I just carried on this way without knowing that it was a variation of the Simandl technique. I use OFPF for exercises and warm ups, but I'm not conscious of what finger I use when playing actual songs, just what works and gets me there in the most comfortable and efficient way for me. During lockdown, I did woodshed a lot of OFPF and manage to give myself tendonitis! The times I have played upright bass (a friend has one), my dodgy Simandl seems to work fine, as do the patterns that I'm used to on EB. I'd love a DB.
  8. Laughing Gnome - Bowie
  9. Here Comes The Flood - Peter Gabriel
  10. I love some Joni, but I can see where you’re coming from. I used to be the same with Geddy Lee, but I learned to like it (at least not hate it), which was made easier by already being a Budgie fan. Morrissey is one I can’t learn to like, however, and I’ve really tried, just so I can enjoy Marr & Rourke - no joy (no pun intended).
  11. Into The Valley - The Skids
  12. Design feature to gain a darker sound from the lower strings. ‘S’obvious, innit?
  13. Lay Lady Lay - Bob Z
  14. Enola Gay - OMD
  15. Tokyo Joe - Bryan Ferry
  16. Kraken-ling Rosie - Neil Diamond
  17. Fabulous work as always, Andy. 👏👏👏 I have owned 3 new Maruszczyks, only 2 of them came with a care guide and it was the first one that didn’t have the guide. I made my usual action adjustments, especially as the action was really low for me and was initially confused when adjusting the relief. Fortunately, I didn’t go mad and keep going the ‘wrong’ way. Whether I just went the other way or checked BC first I can’t remember. Either way it was sorted, but it’s annoying that I didn’t have a guide at the time to refer to.
  18. I had an ebanol board on a GWB35, perfectly serviceable and also shiny like a lacquered board.
  19. Moby Díck - LZep
  20. Good to see a short scale in your collection already. It probably also doubles your music collection without buying anything new, as you start to listen more for the bass.
  21. Classy as a very, very classy thing - extremely tasteful.
  22. Now this is something worthy of an OMG! If that was a Buzz, I'd have to change my undercrackers.
  23. As f**k
  24. Here we go again I Hake Everything About You - Three Days Grace
