  1. A pub gig for us and a bit disappointing really. All the hard work done on rehearsal, working in the new drummer, tightening up endings, etc, seem to fall away. Guitarist/BL constantly tuning between songs and taking a while doing it, drummer speeding up noticeably in certain sections (rather than follow, I held the timing and made him slow down, otherwise it would have been a train wreck). It’s our 4th gig and 1st for the drummer, folk liked it, venue owner liked it (although playing an ‘80s playlist during the breaks for a mod band was weird, especially as it was pretty much the set list of my previous band), but I’m just used to better. Hopefully, things will improve.
  2. You’re going to fit right in.
  3. Going by the postings of owners (of which I’m one), they all are. Fender definitely got it right with this model.
  4. Bad Monkey - Richard Thompson
  5. Bird of Paradise - Snowy White
  6. They look suspiciously like mirror screws with caps.
  7. Oh, this is going to be good. I look forward to more updates.
  8. Who’s That Girl - Eurythmics
  9. GAH! 😍
  10. Speak to Me - Pink Floyd
  11. ^^^ This and keep it. YOB, unusual and all that.
  12. Indeed. For a hefty chunk of cash there is the Maruszczyk Joker.
  13. Dons tin hat…
  14. Now I’m Here - Queen
  15. Having previously used a Mustang (see above), it’s probably not a big issue for him. I’ve discovered that I prefer a slabby body over a very contoured one. I much prefer my slab bodied JMJ over my HB Mustang-alike and shirty ‘Ray. Obviously, others prefer it the other way around.
  16. I saw him using a Trent with them, on the telly. Prior to the Trent, he was using JMJ Mustang.
  17. Black Rose - Thin Lizzy
  18. I had an identical Jake to this one (without the upper horn paint rippling) and it was chambered.
  19. In my experience, I find shorties to have more clear fundamental that long scales, certainly less overtones, and do not have less low end at all, regardless of pickup position.
  20. I did an exercise where I resized a number of popular basses so that the scales were all equal, in order to show relative positions.
  21. I joined a band playing stuff I wouldn’t normally go and see, just to get out there again (I moved house during the lockdown to the other end of the country). So glad that I gave it go, great bunch of guys, a rake of gigs and I don’t mind the genre as much as I thought I did. Plus, learning a whole raft of new songs is always good for your chops.
  22. Reminds me of my old ‘63.
  23. 🤣
  24. If it’s anything like my recent Thomann delivery, there will be another box inside that one, plus lots of padding. That area looks like a void.
