  1. I’ll be using this tomorrow although the Status is back at the mothership in Colchester getting some tlc so will be paired with a Flea jazz.
  2. Played this afternoon at a pub in Crawley. Outside, full beer garden, second set went down particularly well presumably because the audience had drunk more beer by them. We had a dep drummer who did well and because my Status is away at the mothership being tended to by Rob and Dawn I played my Flea Jazz - not bad at all. Funniest moment was when we were packing down and a very drunk young lad asked why we didn’t play any Status Quo but we did play some Oasis. Vocalist replied we didn’t play any Oasis, yes you did, no we didn’t. Young lad then said yes you did, Another Brick in the Wall - that will forever now be an Oasis song in our band 😂
  3. Stressful! I bought a TE Elf as a backup for precisely this sort of eventuality (plus it sounds good for smaller gigs) Sits in my gig bag in case my Markbass decides to call it a day with no warning.
  4. Same here. I use this when using the CMD 1x12 on its own, but the best stand I find is another 1x12!
  5. I have a 62 reissue made between 1999 and 2002, a P serial number. Chunky neck, classic P bass sound, reverse tuners. Enjoy yours.
  6. Used mine for the first time in anger today. I was very impressed.
  7. Just announced that following Robs cancer diagnosis and operation last year they are no longer going to be producing new basses. A very sensible decision for Rob and Dawn but a great loss to industry.
  8. Played a pub in Horsham on Saturday that we did last year as part of a charity day. As a result we were booked for a paying gig on the day of the landlords birthday. Did the full two and half hour set. A few minor hiccups along the way but nobody but us seemed to notice and the landlord is keen to have us back. Sometimes it is worth doing the freebies with an eye to a paying gig. Less happily there is Covid in our house and I feel it is only a matter of time.
  9. Interested to read of so many experiences with poor vocalists, under rehearsed musicians etc. Our Worship Director sets a high standard, he makes his living from working in the church and with other musicians. So you don’t get on team unless you meet a certain standard and he won’t hold back from pointing out “issues” in anybodys playing or singing. But he does that in a way which is encouraging and positive, everyone ends up a better player from working with him inc me. That extends to the tech team. He works very closely with younger musicians to develop them. I guess we are fortunate but it’s probably also why musicians are drawn to our church.
  10. Liked everything about my fretless jazz except the weight. Way too heavy to consider gigging with so it's gone to another owner now. I might be tempted by a Hofner style fretless though.
  11. Seems an extortionate sum to me and I say that as a big fan of Rhino, Quo and Status. I owned a Charger for a while apparently with a neck removed from one of Rhinos, nice bass but prefer my S2.
  12. That’s Hartke 2x10 for £75 in Haywards Heath looks good and the seller is friends with a couple of people I know so that may (or may not!) be helpful.
  13. Shame. Had an Ashdown 1x12 ABM Neo that would have done the job but just sold it - and just down the road in Burgess Hill.
  14. I'm on my second. The first a Rhino Edwards Charger, this one is a S2 built for me a couple of years ago.
  15. Another vote for the Shure. The only time I had an issue with it was when I tried to save some space on the pedalboard and used the Diago power supply which does the rest of the board, it’s lower voltage and the plug wouldn’t seat properly so had to revert to the original one. It’s a lovely bit of kit.
  16. Paul sold me his TE Elf. Really good comms, excellent pictures and item dispatched quickly. Pleasure to do business with.

  18. I played in our church for the first time in a few months last Sunday. Our Worship Pastor asked me to join him on a new song he had written to be used at the end of the service and to pitch up ready for a run through at 10 for the 10.30 service. But I arrived early just as he was starting to run through the rest of the service with him playing bass so I ended up setting up in 5 mins, he switched to guitar and I played the whole set. OnSong comes into its own at times like this - I just pulled up each song from my library as we got to it and used the transpose function to get it into the right key. Helped that the drummer is class and we’ve played together a lot in the past so it went well and I enjoyed it. Just my Precision into my MB combo, nice and simple. We aren’t using IEMs at the moment either.
  19. The volume out of these things is ridiculous. The wedge is a good idea.
  20. Thank you. Worth saying that the singer plays bass in another band so he is naturally listening to me more than others might. I play a Status S2 and make liberal use of the switchable mid sweep to change overall sound as the song demands it, sansamp and into a MB 1x12 combo and 1x12 extension cab. All the eq on the MB is flat. Never been happier with my sound. Make minor (v minor) eq adjustments on the bass and sansamp depending on room and if I am using the extension cab or not. Had a recent experiment with some Ashdown gear which was v nice but not quite right for me.
  21. First chance to play a full set with the new band last night in a pub in Crawley. It’s a long time since I did a full two hours plus a couple of encore numbers, got in at 1am. Shattered today but well worth it, place was bouncing at the end. Best moment was when our singer said halfway through the first set “can we all just stop a moment to appreciate how good the bass sounds”. I doubt the audience cared but it was nice to hear.
  22. I just used Velcro and a couple of cable ties. Now I have a much smaller board I don’t have the room to do that so looking at finding another solution but this worked well for a few years - I had a Diago supply and also a Shure one for the wireless hence the two gang socket.
