  1. The Elf is so tiny on the cab but they are great amps. What is in the BF cab? I’m constantly tempted to go down that route.
  2. I chickened out of doing this myself and took it to the fantastic Badlands Guitars in Brighton who did an excellent job. The bass sounds so much better without the preamp, much more like either a P or a J. The wiring job they did was neat as a pin and all for £59. The Lyte is going to get a lot more use now.
  3. Thanks but want to go full passive.
  4. Hi, my Fender P Lyte continues to prove problematic. Having replaced a dodgy battery clip it now works all the time but the volume is inconsistent, it sometimes distorts (and it’s had a new battery more than once) - I can’t rely on it it a performance setting so I’m thinking of converting it to passive. It is potentially a nice back up instrument and its weight is attractive when my old back is applying up. It’s a two band eq with a pick-up pan and a master vol, so a two vol, two tone seems the obvious way to go. Apart from finding a suitable wiring diagram I guess I need to change the pots as well but I’m unsure what ones I’d need. Anything else to consider?
  5. Just down the road from me but alas will be in Northumberland over the weekend.
  6. Another hot, sweaty pub in Crawley on Friday night. Lots of punters in the beer garden but we did the full two and half hour set with a dep drummer who did well although hard work for me helping cue him all night. Guitars were struggling to stay in tune but my Status was rock solid, in fact forgot to check the tuning until I had to retune for a drop D in the first set - gotta love some carbon graphite! Bit of a break now over the summer while we search for a permanent drummer.
  7. If our drummer ever made it to rehearsal I might be able to build a relationship with him - hopefully I can with the drummer we are now trying to recruit to replace him!
  8. I know I lusted after one of these when I was about 15 or 16 in 1978’ish. Saw it in the window of Rose Morris but was too pricy for me and my Mum and Dad. Went for a Craftsman J-bass which was a Macaris brand - a great bass for the money but it didn’t make me look like Bruce Foxton 🙁
  9. We are an established rock covers band. Looking like we are going to need a new drummer in readiness for gigs in the autumn.
  10. Drive. Rehearsal room is in the middle of nowhere and it's too late for public transport after most gigs. I brought an old non descript CMax to lug gear around and I dont have to worry about it being left parked at or near some of the scuzzy pubs we play at!
  11. Ha! My wife just said that's how I want you to have your hair cut, take a picture! We'll see - not sure I'm cool enough!
  12. I recently bought one and now do the same - just in case.
  13. Norm is such a lovely guy he would probably say nothing and just smile graciously. He stayed with me a few years ago when he was doing some clinics in the UK - lovely fella.
  14. And, despite my decidedly amateur soldering skills, it’s fixed. At least it’s working for now…..
  15. Every day a school day. Love my V2 but never quite got my head around the various permutations other than I have found a setting I love.
  16. Two, main and a spare. Had to use spare twice in about four decades but when I needed it I needed it!
  17. Had a closer look this morning. Both batteries full of juice so it's not them. But as I went to replace one the red wire connecting to the battery clip dropped off. I'm guessing there was a dodgy joint on the clip so first step is to get a new clip sorted and see what that does.
  18. Yes, familiar with the dead battery distortion on these but this is different. The descending fart noise, almost synth like is new to me and it works again fine when you unplug and plug a lead back in.
  19. Brand new Procell and I’m betting that when I put a meter on both of them they will be fine.
  20. Took my 1994 P Lyte to rehearsal tonight just for a change. After about 10 mins it made a rather distinct descending fart sound and then would only produce distorted notes. A new battery appeared to solve it but then it started again and carried on all evening. The only way to “fix” it was to unplug it and then plug back in again to get about one songs worth of playing time. I think I can safely rule out amp and anything else in the signal chain - I’m thinking something in the pre amp has gone, a capacitor maybe? Welcome some thoughts.
  21. A timely reminder. I am dreadful at changing passwords and having different ones for different sites. I’ll be sorting that now.
  22. Belated hi from just over the border in West Sussex, although I still consider we are East rather than West in Burgess Hill.
  23. Three Mooer pedals, all boxed and with velcro on bottom. A couple of paint chips but all working well. Each priced at £30 plus postage at cost. 1. Ensemble King Chorus 2. Thunderball Distortion / Fuzz - SOLD 3. Envelope Filter Great little pedals, very compact just not getting used at the moment.
