1. Hi. Since i am asked a few times about my 40" scale bass,i decide to open a thread for any bass biger than 35" scale. Well, here is my. The specs are Neck:maple/wenge 5 pieces Body:maple/ash combination Top:ambura Fretboard:wenge Pickups: Neck pickup:Dimarzio DP-145,series/parallel,in/out of phase, tone control with push/pull for Hi-cut filter Midle pickup:,Dimarzio DP-127 straight to the output jack Electronics:passive, stereo out. Tuning:F#,B,E,A with Newtone-strings,custom set Misc:Bolt-on,with the neck going under the neck pickup and reaching the midle pickup. Double action truss-rod,2 carbon rods. In the pics,i have not finished with the control cavity cover, and the to knob isn't there. It also is tuned G#,F#,B,E with kalium strings.AS you can see,the DIY look isn;t missing, and i like the way it looks, with not perfect shape and curves. PS i have limited image upload.Couldnt upload more than this one pic.If a moderator will allow me to upload more and biger pics with the bass and the building progress,it would be greate
2. I dont wan to destroy this thread,so give a litle time and i will open new thread about this bass, and anybody could tell a few things about othet longer scale basses biger than 35"
3. I use newtone strings in my 40" scale bass.If you tell Neil the right dimensions,he will bo them right.I am very happy with my cooperation with newtone strings. Now i am gonna build a 45" scale bass. The strings are in my home.Didnt open the package to see them, but i am sure they are at right dimensions. I used to buy kalium for my 40" but i need 30$ for shipping,+ last time i waited 30days to confirm that they will send them to me,and canceled the order because they didnt answer at my e-mails. So,the last 15 months, newtone strings at any bass
4. For this price range,i would go for an yamaha attitude 3

Hey Charlie!! Nice to see you here man
6. I am using neetone strings.Neil builds custom gauge and lenght for me.Give em a shot.I highly recomend them
7. I use a Korg one.Dont remember model, but something with 20.Cheap.Also i can tune F# below LB with this one
8. The best is to add a cab exactly the same as the one you have.So they have same sound and response and output and you will set your tone more easy than mix cabs
9. I didnt belive i could be a good guitarist,so i could play bass. But the first time i plug the E string..O!MY!GOD!!! Dat phat bass..pfew..i almost pee my self..And there is more..a few months later,i plug this B string..are you kidin me?poeple should not use drugs..they should play bass.
10. I found on the web a veri layout of fdeck.I use it first. There is no reason my pedals have to take care frequencies that later will cut. This means less cliping. And if i boost the 30Hz from eden wtdi,i hear a big difference because dont boost just the 30Hz but a curve with 30Hz on top.So 40-50-60Hz are also boosted. And dont forget,if something is cuted, you cant add it again
11. I know that technicians have to live without become burglers, but they have to charge less than they do. Look.I am farmer.A few years ago my tractor had a problem.I went to an michanical, and he checked it out.Next day he told me that he has already order the spares and is waiting.3 days later he calls me and telling me that cost 1000€. I go,i pay and i took the traktor.I asked him to give the old spares and he tells me he throw them in garbages. 10 days later, the same problem.I called him and tells me to find a broken screw between the wheels and replace it.10 days later, the same thing. Then i go to an other mechanical.Next day calls me and i go to see what hapend.Well..there was a big problem with the front axle, and the screw was to be cut if there is a problem,so you can see it and fix it.I payed 1500€ to this one and the problem is disapered. What i have found out is that the first mechanical didnt fix nothing, didnt even used spares. He stoll 1000€ from me.Thats why now i am not paying for "i cant fix it" Yes you will fix it,you will saw me the problem before you fix it,i bring you the spares (that cost 100€ and you telling me 400€spares and 200€ for the service) you give me the old spares,i try it a few days, and if it is ok,i will pay you
12. Doesent mean that if something isnt made after 2010 isnt evolution
13. Whell..lets say,i have an amp with problem, and go to a repair man. After 2 days he calls me and telling "i cant find the problem, but you have to pay the time i spend 50€" Then go to next one,and the same thing. The third, again. Then what?i have spend 150€ to find that my amp has a problem that those 3 repairmen couldnt find? No..i pay you ti find the problem. If you cant find it,you ate not gonna pay. Why?because you may had other thinks to do,and didnt check my amp and telling me lies. You taking money to repair amps, not to tell me "i cant fix it" If paying for "i cant fix it" then, please, all of you send me your amps,i charge only 10€ for every "i cant fix it" I thing its very good price..
14.
I'm getting bored of anything Dingwall and Darkglass orientated. It's apparently a dream combination... If you think a relic'd bass or guitar is a fad, then fanned frets are right up there as a fad.
Well..multiscale is evolution. Also extended range or extended scale basses.Even compount radius, torzal necks and tapered strings are evolution. Is like telling that all the active electronic basses are fad. The relic doesnt afect sound or playability. Its like trying to make a guitar looking epic. The other exaples i give, afects sound or playability and go the instruments one step forther. Oh!dont forget..relic is more worse than lined fretless..
15. O yes..markbass..allways a greate choise.I have the marshall mb150 for practice amp.I have use it for a gig with thrash metal band (sodom, violator, kreator) i think it will do the job,if you can find one usef in low price.Otherwise,go gor markbass.Way better than marshall
16. I have a 6string bass with .254 string.I gues is the same with this one.The difference is that my bass is designet for .254 and tis not. If you see the pictures you can see that this is 10 string and the guy added 5 more. Some sadfles hold 2 strings. http://m.ebay.com/itm/TENNESSEE-15-STRING-EXTENDED-RANGE-BASS-OFFERS-OR-BUY-NOW-/292031720676?nav=SEARCH
17. What?LOL..look at the tape to hide the pots holes..genius!!
18. The best 5string i have play is ny vig cobra select 5. I have also try rockbass vampire and wareick corvette $$. Why is the vig better than yhe corvette? Because it cost me 350€ new and there is no reason for any upgrade in this bass. Its very nice, lightweight, good quality, easy to play and greare tone, while the corvette was heavy, better quality, but costed 10 times more..
19. I have the wtdi.I love it.It gives me extremly beautyful tone, with nice lows. I highly recomend every eden amp/preamp
20. Artec has an active control with mid boost/cut and push/pull for on/off.I have it in one bass and is very good
21. I run eden wtdi (125€) through db technologies 1000mpa (170€ used)1000watt bridged at 8Ω. Υou cant get cheaper this sound with head amps, also if i dont like the eden i can change the preamp more easy than change a head amp
22. Relic is ridiculous. My bass tracher has a warwick thumb bubinga with few sings because of heavy use and didnt like them. I like the basses looking new more than looking old.But at most i like them be and looking DIY
23. 800watt at 1KHz,so at lower Hz are less.I have a fearful rated at 800 watt and 1000watt amp.Never had a problem.More amp watts=more headroom
