  1. Naked.Even in my freted basses,i dont like the dots/squares/anything in my fretboard. Every one can learn to find the right spots without looking at the fretboard. C'mon..its not so hard..
  2. Gluing a few pieces of wood to make the neck more thicker, and then i will start give him shape
  3. My opinion is that the amp and the preamp should not colour the sound. This EQ's work. Thats why i prefer transistor rig. But the problem.in most of us is,we dont give enough time to try the eq/compresor/etc of our gear.I have a practice combo 6years,and still discovering things i didnt knew before
  4. All the balkanian people here.. Well,it looks like is the best place for me to be here
  5. I have a minotaur.Heavy duty construction. You can kill an elephant of you hit him with this strap.Comfordable, wide enough so you dont feel the weight of your bass.My strap pins are both wide. The strap hold them realy tight.I dont know what strap pins has your bass, but i highly recomend this straps
  6. These https://www.google.gr/search?q=bass+bridge+individual&hl=el&source=android-browser-suggest&prmd=ivmn&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjxu-v555DTAhUL2BoKHVWRBBgQ_AUIBygB&biw=360&bih=556#imgrc=RHe6qF2ce5_Z3M: I have them in my hands. I will cut the point that is holding the ball ends to make them shorter. I would keep it as low cost build as possible. Norris,i am playing with a 40" easy.In the begining i was thinking for 43" and made a blank to see how it is.I can play the 43" very well (not thrash-speed metal or everything extremly fast, but in my style is comfortable) so i thing lets go for 45.Why not?
  7. Thank you for your help. I will not use headstock, because i dont wan to spend much wood. The wood i have is 50" long,so 45" is the most i can get.If i can go 46" scale,i will.I have allready the strings, and they are like the common strings but larger.Nit double ball end. Thinking to have a staight cut in the headstock side, and use zero fret to start the scale. On the bridge side,i thing to use 5(i forget to tell it will be a 5string) i will use 5seperate saddles (i cant descride it,you know, the bridges who are one string alone,)and behind of them, common tuners to tune the strings
  8. Well..it looks like i am starting a topic here for my first headless and multiscale twisted neck bass build.. I am at the beginning yet, still have work to prepare the neck woods.Maple-wenge neckthrough with 2 double jazz pickups. I dont have all the tools i need,so i have to go in a furniture maker to do some works, and this is the most slowly going part of the build. Here is the neck I need help to choose body shape, and how to use common bass machine tuners behind the bridge. Any idea will be helpful
  9. I would set the truss rod in "dead position".Staight in the midle. No bow no underbow
  10. I agree with the above b-chaters.Leave it as is
  11. The best you can do is to buy a 5string and transpose it to 4 string. Then you will have a very wide neck. The 40" scale precision i build,is designet for .254,.175,.135,.105 strings. So is 46mm at nut.Now is loaded with .175,.135,.105,.85 strings and the string spacing is very wide. And i can say very easy to play
  12. My pickguardless P I call it the praiser
  13. My ecperience tells me that is more possible you need to change your pre-amp than your pickup. A few years ago my rig was vig cobra select5 and marshall mb150. And i was looking for darker sound. I added tha eden wtdi in the rig,and i ended whith tons of lows. Now i have a 40" p-bass with mudbucker.Still only the bass with the amp is deep but not deep enough. When i open the wtdi,is more deep than i ever need. You can go in shop and try it out
  14. My opinion is to stay simple.Choose one tone and play it with 2 cabs.NO 2 different cabs..
  15. The nut width have nothing to do with bridge width.Imagine a bass with nut wider than the bridge. Is it possible, but its useless
  16. My other 5string is 36mm nut and 75 bridge saddle.I take all the distances from it.So since i dont mind to buy new pickups for this building,i will use narrower bridge spacing. Thank you
  17. I am building a 5 string bass, with j-pickups. The problem is that both neck and bridge are for 64mm string spacing.I find this to narrow. Is there many basses with this string spacing? Is 16mm string-string on the pickup
  18. I am talking about the eden wtdi. If you se how is the room with my rig and how the cables are all togather..you atr gonna hit me :-P
  19. Nub question, but why not to ask? If a pre-amp DI pedal, goes to the power amp from the DI out,is possible to have vol issues?
  20. I have tusq nut,so i take in out and rub it on the strings and they become right sloted
  21. Very nice. The nick and the fretboard are wenge?
  22. Here are some pics from the building the body http://www.luthier.gr/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=2506.0;attach=28235;image the custom truss rod (left a standard, right the cumstom,it needs to bee longer than the comon) http://www.luthier.gr/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=2506.0;attach=28323;image gluing the neck http://www.luthier.gr/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=2506.0;attach=28498;image the carbon rods and the truss rod cavity http://www.luthier.gr/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=2506.0;attach=28972;image i make here a few pickup position calculations http://www.luthier.gr/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=2506.0;attach=29400;image here it is ready to play, but needs the control cavity cover http://www.luthier.gr/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=2506.0;attach=29610;image http://www.luthier.gr/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=2506.0;attach=29614;image http://www.luthier.gr/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=2506.0;attach=29616;image http://www.luthier.gr/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=2506.0;attach=29618;image http://www.luthier.gr/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=2506.0;attach=29620;image http://www.luthier.gr/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=2506.0;attach=29622;image
