1.
Probably the best time of year to sell this...Bonfire Night is just a couple of weeks away...
Well, Dale on the FB fakers page is burning a Hondo II in his stove at the moment.
2. The thing about you is you don't know how good you are; you made that story our own.
3. Words just cannot describe... https://www.ebay.co....esAAOSwIBBZ5LC3
4. Oh, and I played Greg Lake's 8-string bass a couple of times: once at Manchester uni and once in a bass shop in Romford.
5. On a more genuine bass thing, I recently found a tub of old bass strings, including some which Gordon Rowley (of Strife) gave me after a gig at Forest Town in Mansfield in the 70s.
6. I have Ritchie Blackmore's knob. (Off a Strat he smashed up on the Rainbow Rising tour.) I hear you say "that's not a bass claim!", so I'll just point out that there was a bass player in the band, which obviously means it qualifies.
7. The sellet of the item I bought said he was using the app and could't find the option.
8. It's illegal to sell a counterfeit instrument which incorporates a trademarked logo.
9. Last week there was something up for £45 with best offer as an option. I offered £40, which was rejected. So, I offered £41, which was rejected. So, I offered £42 with a note - hey, you put up the best offer option! That was also rejected and the seller responded that they couldn't see how to disable best offer. I bought it for the £45!
10. Any particular style of neck?
11. I recently had Alegree repair three pickups.
12. I've had a couple of things off Ash and I'd have that JB if I had some spare cash! (Including a scruffy Shaftesbury bass project of a shape not too dissimilar to that, but only has 4 strings...)
13.
Thanks Colin, It's great news that we've been able to support 4 good causes this year. So, in terms of dates for next year's Bash, we're looking at either Saturday 22 September 2018 Or Saturday 29 September 2018 Pencil them in your diaries now, Folks!
Nice one - September penciled in!
14. Mind you - £350 is a hefty price.
15.
This might be worth taking a look at. It claims to cover a load of 80s/ lo-fi/ synthbass sounds
Someone had one of those at the Bass Bash and I thought it was quite good. Lots of preset sounds, so you're using what's programmed in. I have a Boss one which I am struggling with; it seems to only like long slow notes, but I've got a Minitaur for that!
16.
Wow, that's the way to draw people in with your pictures.
It'd be great for a Focus tribute band.
17. It really needs LEDs.
18.
Great if you played in Proclaimers tribute (other Scottish bands are available)
I wouldn't walk 500 miles for that!
19.
So "Steampunk" = no strings?
Special offer - no strings attached!
20. That could well be the worst bass I have ever seen! (I might buy it, just for that fact...)
21.
Not my vision of 'steampunk'
Here's one...
22. They are/were an interesting brand; they were contracted by Fender to make Squier instruments. They then proceeded to produce their own brand, built from the Fender plans but with upgraded components! There was a bit of a kerfuffle and lawsuitness which ensued. The ones with the Fender headstocks are the ones to look for. Prices vary a lot and I've never tried one myself.
23. Well folks - it's only 354 days to the next one!
24.
Ah man, I've played with that guy before in days gone past. He brought a lot of kit for a small venue and had both of them out onstage IIRC. Regarding low tuned Rics - one thing to remember is the propensity for tail lift with high-tension strings. I assume with the right gauges it wouldn't be an issue, but at the very least I'd be cautious about converting one with the vintage truss-rods.
I think they need the extra two screws in the tailpiece to hold it down, or the supplementary string anchor option. I definitey wouldn't convert a pre-'73 vintage Ric!
