  1. Since we're being pedantic, I'd suggest the word is "alluded". 🙂
  2. Chris Squier Paul McCartney Geddy Lee Mark King Jeff Berlin Alphonso Johnson Stanley Clarke John Taylor Pete Way Steve Harris John Wetton Mo Foster Roger Glover Pino Palladino Geezer Butler Gary Thain Burke Shelley Lee Sklar John Entwistle Bill Wyman ...that's my ten.
  3. A beat up Precision. And maybe a well-used Ric (but don't throw that one at a wall!).
  4. You're still welcome to try out some of mine if you like; I mentioned that I took an Ampeg pre/power along to a Bass Bash a couple of years ago and never powered it on because my Markbass EVO sounded so good.
  5. I think @NancyJohnson has had an RBI, and also a 2112. The VT500 is sometimes jokingly referred to as an "AvecAmp", because it is an integrated amp with a 500W power stage; according to Tech 21 it is "formulated with the same proprietary technology as our SansAmp Character Series VT Bass DI pedal.". Interestingly, I happened across this thread from a few years back...
  6. I prefer an equipment-style case for musical equipment, though I do have a Peli wheeled one for my cables & oddments.
  7. Not having to carry a great lump of a thing is good for you 'elf too!
  8. I watched for sale items on ebay/FB/whatever for a while and eventually something the exact size for my PT (don't remember the precise model) popped up. More of a strategy than a recommendation for a particular item. You can also get interior foam from such as Shadowfoam or Sealey to make things a snug fit.
  9. I was meaning these... 🙂
  10. Isn't the AvecAmp (SansAmp with an amp) pretty much that?
  11. I've been wondering about an ICE amp; I was at a car show and some of them were kicking out ridiculous bass - I was thinking my bass pedals could do with something like that.
  12. Maybe a mixer and a PA. Oh, DI the BDDI into the PA! 🙂
  13. Yep "Bat Out Of Hell" and "I Would Do Anything" have me reaching for the off switch. Also anything by Status Quo, Bruce Springsteen, and Guns'n'Roses. Oh, and thanks whoever mentioned "Come On Eileen" - that's now going round in my head!
  14. I've got a Status neck on my Frankenstein bass. (Yes, it is a bolt-on!)
  15. Squier
  16. It'd be good if someone made a compact power amp. The Sumo ones are a strange form factor
  17. @NancyJohnson As mentioned, I have these. You're welcome to try them out for a couple of weeks, or I can bring them to the next Bass Bash. (The "AvecAmp" is the same size; it's just in a shorter case, so it's further from the camera!) The power amp is a cheaper model, but I wanted a 1U unit. I've also got this Fx setup which covers a wide range of sounds. The Microbass 3 is my "must-have" pedal; there's one for sale in the BC classifieds. My only gripe with it is I wish both channels were the same (like the Stanley Clarke acoustic bass model).
  18. Those are cool basses; if I saw one for £90 I'd probably nab it.
  19. I'm with you on the Darkglass sound; to me it sounds like a comb and bog roll, but I think it may fit into the mix well. A real Ampeg is probably the answer (to most bass sound questions), but lugging one of those around is a chore. My Stomp is good for incidental effects, but I wouldn't use it on all the time; in face I even switch mine out via a looper, as it affects the sound even with everything off. I've got Ampeg, SWR, Trace, and RBI preamps, but I've not spent much time with them as my Markbass EVO's emulation is really good; I took some to a Bass Bash, but the Markbass sounded good and I never got round to turning them on.
  20. The organ gives their sound a sixties (pre-prog) feel. Some of the "punk" thing was just different hairdos and the band members sneering a bit rather than a big revolution reinventing music.
  21. Well, it is something to ponder. Years ago I was in a band and I was never into partaking, though the rest were; we were at a practice and they were all going "This is great man!", but I thought it was an utter shambles. I think some of the drugs can help stamina, staying up to work on things, and suchlike, so I guess that may implicitly help playing. I watched a Beatles documentary and they were all on something; I think it may help the creativity. A lot of the music I like appears to come via drug enhancement, but it's just plain not my thing.
