The singer is rather good too - she has interesting nuances to her voice, rather than just trying to be Geddy.

I didn't mention it in this thread, but I tried on out in Wunjo a couple of months ago I set all of the controls to 12 o'clock, plugged in a Ric and into a Markbass amp, and it just sounded spot-on. My only gripe was that £250 is a lot for a pedal where you're not even going to use the knobs... If I get one, I would probably paint over the finish, rather than have Geddy staring at me in perpetuity!

Well, I decided not to go; my son was home for the week so we went out on Saturday and on Sunday I did my tax return! (Turns out I owe the tax man £30k...) I expect this may be construed as a whinge, but I didn't see anything there which really made me want to go. The previous one I went to, my head was resonating from the noise and I felt ill; folks do seem to be suggesting that the levels were an issue this time. I suppose there's a trade-off between floor space and costs.

I think Jimmy Bain was hard done by in Rainbow - he contributed big time to Holy Diver (which Dio said was when everything came together for him). I've still got a piece of Blackmore's guitar from their first tour (Leicester De Montfort).

I always viewed them as Dio's backing band, be it Rainbow, Sabbath, Dio proper. Did you know that Blackmore played most of the bass on Long Live Rock 'n' Roll? (I've seen Dio in Rainbow, Dio, and Sabbath.)

But TBH the Gillan/Glover incarnation was the definitive one. (Steve Morse has been in the band longer than Blackmore was.)
