  1. People referring to an instrument as "she". Also, the image of having to wipe my hands if it "plays like butter".
  2. That’s interesting; I didn’t know you could get drop-D tuners on a Spirit. I’ve just hacked my 5-string to fit a pair of EMG pickups.
  3. Something to harp on about...
  4. So, they have one cut but they're not a single-cut...
  5. I like that!
  6. Right then... What's brown and sticky...
  7. 🙂 I do see it sometimes, but if the carbon rods are rigid then I don’t know what the rod is for, unless there is some give and it needs tweaking. (I’m thinking/musing out loud, btw...)
  8. It's vaguely like, or (un)inspired by, a Rickenbacker 3000.
  9. Ah - I wish I could do woodwork like that! Personally I don't go for the sperm whale look, but the selection of woods makes up for it. A question: what is the purpose of having both graphite rods and a truss rod?
  10. Ramps - what are they for?
  11. I have to say that I could walk into a room of basses and head straight to the Rickenbackers, even though I have several already.
  12. I have one on a Jazz fretless - it is just the job.
  13. I'm working up to my Rebel Bass being my next project to finish...
  14. I'm thinking 70s Sci-Fi...
  15. Each one does 2 strings...
  16. Looks like screws hold them in place and you chop the ends off. ...or don't...
  17. £1k for a Korean copy(ish) in a gig-bag.
  18. I quite like them! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-x-Sirius-Alienslam-bass-guitars-vintage-german-in-flight-case/174411053560
  19. I have to say, I don't quite "get" them.
  20. My best strap is a leather one I had made by somebody local I met at a car boot sale; it's just a strip of leather with a Straplock at each end. I don't need an adjustable one; all I do is measure them to the right length and then hope they don't slip. So I had mine made to the right length to start with and never think about it.
  21. I used my imagination and chose the name "prowla" - it took me a while to come up with that! Paul (that's the "p" in the above)
  22. That case is quite impressive!
  23. I have to say I'm not a signature bass aficionado; not bothered about having someone else's name on my kit.
  24. Hey - they made the Bongo weirder!
