  1. I thought maybe you'd had a sudden turnaround!
  2. Another great day out! I really enjoyed Pete's talk - a sort of friendly informal chat with lots of interesting anecdotes and snippets of information.
  3. RIC seem to have mellowed - there have been several copies on ebay of late which haven't been taken down.
  4. Curiously, here supports selling fake Fenders - it's just not Rics (real or fake) which are allowed.
  5. I've got, or have owned, several fakers; which are perfectly legal to own. Since taking the pic I've sold the outer two there - they are Hondo II (the treble pickup is too near the bridge); that was completely legal too, as they were manufactured before the design trademarks were registered by RIC. I do like these vintage fakers, for their historical interest, and with their original brand logos. The current Chickenbackers are illegal to sell and I don't like them neither...
  6. The Chickenbacker basses are not very good copies.
  7. Because at the point of importing it is still illegal.
  8. There's no forum rules about discussing fakers.
  9. They just manage to get some bits wrong, don't they. If you want a good 'un there are folks who will do a custom build to order.
  10. Plug the headphones into the speaker output - they'll be plenty loud enough!
  11. Saturday is reserved for getting your kit ready, checking strings & batteries, cases out of the loft, etc.
  12. The performances are just harmless eccentricity. Bodging Instruments and adding a premium is a poor show, though.
  13. This is like a specialist subject on Mastermind...
  14. OTOH, I find it annoying when I'm searching for something and I get search & browse manipulation; if ebay had an ignore button for sellers I think I'd use it a lot.
  15. Yes - I'm not into "upbranding". However, Fender do put "by Fender" on some of their models. Epiphone are even worse and put a "Gibson" TRC on some of theirs!
  16. I'd go for a Fender one if you can find it in budget. I've been looking at an Ibanez Mikro to try out, myself. I had an Epi EB0 and it was OK but unremarkable. I've also got a vintage Japanese something or whatever, which is full-size but short scale (ie. the bridge is further up the body). A complete flip-around of the idea would be a Kala U-bass.
  17. A car boot buy of mine... (I still haven't finished the reversion job...)
  18. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fender-Squier-P-Bass-50th-Anniversary-1996-Guitar-Project-Functional-Working/264495509923
  19. One of my pet hates is "Squire"... As for this particular one, it's not worth the money.
