  1. I picked up three barebones Chinese Ric copies recently; One is a 5-string (but I need pickups to fit). On is just going to be a generic 4-string. And the other is having brass fittings, including a Kahler whammy.

  3. Different opinions, eh...
  4. Dunno - I just like Wish You Were Here better.
  5. I think Clockwork Angels is probably Rush’s best after Moving Pictures.
  6. I suppose wandering around in a trance-like state with your arms in the air is too...
  7. If people want to spend that much, then good on them; it's still only a cheap Squier to me.
  8. This is one of those essential pedals to own (or have owned) for a bass player.
  9. Emojis in the titles of listings - I tend to skip over them, especially if there are lots in the same format (on the basis it'll be a commercial seller).
  10. 90125 is their most hi-fi album.
  11. What a one-dimensional viewpoint that music is only valid if you can dance to it.
  12. You... you... HATER!, you...
  13. Nobody (not even Jon Anderson) knows what Yes lyrics are about. They are often just random words which paint some kind of abstract picture. (Mind you, a lot of lyrics are like that.) As for goblins (or other wee folk), Olias is going to be your best bet.
  14. Mine has, ever since I put a sponge under the strings; I don't know what's gone wrong - do I need to fit a hi-mass bridge?
  15. Someone needs to...
  16. Close To The Edge is my favourite album. Moving Pictures is a close second. I have 8 Rickenbacker basses. I guess there’s no hope for me.
  17. Did anybody mention "Road worn" yet (I know, really...). The question is whether: a. the bass has been gigged "on the road" and has received natural wear and tear, b. it has been dragged along a road behind a vehicle and so is genuinely road-worn, or c. the poor defenceless instrument has been attacked by a numpty with something sharp or abrasive in the belief that knackering it will add value?
  18. Why do some bassists seem to be so obsessed with sustain? There y'go! In my favoured land of Rickenbacker basses a lot of owners say "fit a Hipshot bridge" to seemingly almost any question. I often ask what it brings and they say "More sustain.", to which I ask what they want that for...
  19. Ouch!
  20. Mind you, on occasion I put in a spotter bid and nobody else bids...
  21. I should be picking it up this afternoon - I'll wave as I go past Hartfield.
  22. "Unwanted present." - wow; next time tell the gifter to just throw some money away 'cos that's all the gratitude they'll get.
  23. I'm thinking they cut & pasted the wrong description there! 🙂 (I can't be too smug, because I've done it myself before!)
  24. I'll put a bid on at the price I want to pay, but if it's below reserve, then I'll just shrug and say never mind. Sometimes getting bidding going is a start in auctions, but it's all a bit of a faff.
