1. Sorry to hear that. We lost one a couple of weeks back, she had been my wife's shadow since we rescued her (bengal used for breeding and lived in a cage). It is very sad, we have another two, both rescues and a daft terrier which helps. I keep, joking to my wife that we need to buy a tortoise so we can have a pet that outlives us, but I don't think I would bond the same with a tortoise.
2.
Stuff a Chiwawa in one 'ole and a Toy Terrier in t'other. Job's a good 'un.
Nah, she is used to dogs and terrorises several local mutts including a massive (but stupidly friendly) Rottweiler which is a laugh to watch.
3.
Franky Goes to Hollywood? I have the 12 inch of that. Stop sniggering you lot at the back!
Yup, not my usual sort of music at all but I remember them as a 12 year old and the energy is amazing. The bass player (whose name escapes me) was brilliant. They did a one of big a few years back that was on the telly and the tone he had was just perfect. You felt like they had written the songs around the bass lines.
4. Just heard two tribes on the radio, it's an awesome bassline.
5. Hypnotic straps are very good and sensible money, may be worth looking if any of theirs fits the bill.
6. Just booked tickets for Nottingham in November, should be a good night.
7. Thanks for all the help everyone. Think I now have it sorted.
8.
If you put the cab so its snug up against a wall with ports facing the wall the cat can't move the cab to get inside can it?
I use it for practice every day so not easy, I don't think it's a major issue really. It just amused me so I posted it up. Wish I had got a pic!
9.
Surely that is down to how prepared you are to jump through hoops on request? Make it seller's discretion. If you have taken reasonable steps to show current photographs but the item is not as described in good faith by yourself there is the returns policy for them to fall back on.
I am happier than most to accommodate a buyer, what irritates is when the excuse given doesn't make sense. If the reply was genuine (from looking at another thread it appears they were offered something else which is fair enough) then I don't mind, it's the continuing messing you about that is irritating. If they didn't want it they should have just told me and not had me wasting my time.
10. If only it were that simple, she is the most gorgeous cat we have ever had, but it seems that whilst she was waiting in the queue for looks the brain stand ran out and used a peanut instead. But seriously doubt she could fall asleep in there Or could she?
11. Turned on my TE combo and cab tonight only for it to make a weird noise, it did this for about three seconds, then a rather startled young cat emerged from one of the big plastic holes. Stupid cat, now I am going to have to work out a way to check them before I head off to gigs.
12.
....Or when a buyer wants you to strip a bass, show every single part, give every single dimension, and then never get back to you when you've provided said requests - double grrr!
Or you reply to a wanted ad and after a discussion give the cost including postage (which takes a while to sort as it's not UK) and get a request for pics. You waste your time sorting pics and emailing them only to get a response saying the postage is too high (it was the same before I took the pictures), so you sort out cheaper postage, reply then is that 'it might not fit'. Well it came off one of them so I am pretty sure it will go back on and not sure how the postage cost would change that.
13.
So long as we get the appreciation as well as the blame, I'm good with that!
Indeed you will :-) I didn't think I could stretch to one but some of my classic car bits went today and I just thought stuff it, I am sure the Epi is great but it wasn't a stupid amount more for the Gibson. Sadly it's missing it's case so the hunt begins for one of those. I just can't wait to get it set up and running. Next gig is the first weekend in July so have plenty of time.
14. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/305672-gibson-thunderbird-studio-usa-black-2005-sold/page__pid__3314221#entry3314221 I blame you guys (especially Finndave and Blue ;-) ), sold some more of my old car parts today so budget jumped a bit and deal has been struck on a Gibson which should be with me early next week.
15. I have a mirror type for that bass sat lying around that came on mine. I swapped it for a different type, no markings on it so no idea who made it. You could get one made from sheet alloy if you wanted a metal one. Aluminium shouldn't interfere with the pickups but could be wrong.
16. Two main reasons for me, firstly to learn faster. Being new to this game it has made me work harder and improve at a rate I could never have done on my own without having to learn to play with others. Gigging after only two months of starting really focussed the mind and I am still less than a year in with a set list 30 songs long and more on the cards. Secondly, My work can be very stressful at times and being in a band with mates from work is the perfect antidote. After a really hard day it's easy to take that stress home, but a couple of hours rehearsing always leaves me far more relaxed.
17. I am 99% sure PMT had a jaguar of some sort in the last time I went, but that was a few weeks back.
18. Alive by Pearl Jam, off one of my favourite albums and great to play. So what tunes are other basschatters enjoying playing?
19. I can play stuff through on my own, whether anyone would want to listen is another matter!
20. Presumably he plays in sandals and used to play for Fish.
21.
Due to recent tragic events I now know who Ariana Grande is. They played her singing Over The Rainbow in her best Mariah Carey/pub singer/X Factor stylee on the radio today. Judy Garland will be spinning in her grave.
That was very painful, but in the circumstances I think it took a lot of bottle for her to do what she did last night. Not my sort of music at all but impressed by the effort she has put it in various ways.
22. I have t watched a great deal, not my sort of thing and TT on, but I wouldn't care if they sounded like cats peeing in a tin, they are doing enough being there.
