1.
TBH I can sort of see why GK aren't that interested. They probably would much rather you had bought 240V version from their UK dealer network in first place and now they are having to provide support for something that shouldn't really be their problem. I can't help but think it would be far easier if you just bought an external step-down transformer and left the amp as it is.
. Understand too, but I wasn't really after any support as such. I just wanted to buy a component that is in their spares catalogue, without getting messed about. They work within a global market so shouldn't be a problem for them, as for any other company that deals on an international scale. Nay worries, I'll just source it from elsewhere
 2.
If it is a standard voltage http://www.rapidonli...l-Primary-82719
Thanks Phil.
The 800va ones look like a good deal on Phil's list. Can't believe that I got mine from Polar this time last year for £88! Just be very precise with the measurements, Nick. Fitting the toroid into the space between the power amp PCB and the amp sides is a bit tricky, it takes a bit of rotating around the M8 bolt to get it right. PM me if you want me to take the top cover of my 400rb and check anything, Nick. Martin
Hi Martin, Measured about 42v on the secondary's. Regarding the price, you did well to buy one when you did. Apparently, 'the actual manufacturing cost had increased over the last decade but had not been updated incrementally over that time by GK'
Be very wary of getting it from polar audio. I did last year for a 2000RB. They sent one with the wrong electrical values and it blew the amp main board. GK were very helpful and basically supplied all the internal electronics required to fix it "free of charge" Check the spec of any transformer with GK before you fit it.
Thanks for the heads up Gelfin. Not sure what to make of Polar Audio TBH. When I first enquired, they quoted £65 (exc VAT). Then I received an invoice for £186. However none in stock, lead time of 8+ weeks..... After replying querying the price, I received an email from Polar admitting 'a price disparity' which was to be investigated with GK.... Polar Audio have now got back to me to inform me that the price is actually 'correct as it was recently determined that the actual manufacturing cost had increased over the last decade but had not been updated incrementally over that time by GK'. To be fair they are now offering the transformer at reduced price of £133 and there is now one in stock(?!)... This has gone on over past fortnight, phone calls & emails.... I'm not even confident now that I'm going to get the correct transformer. So I think I'm gonna look elsewhere. Gallien Krueger make great amps, but this is not good aftersales or product support IMHO, not from from this experience.

 4. Hi All, I'm after a reasonably priced toroidal transformer to retrofit a 110v GK 400RB series II, that I recently bought from the States. After initially quoting approx. £65 plus VAT on the phone, Polar Audio have now emailed me a revised quote for £186!! Could anybody please advise a decent reasonably priced alternative supplier? Many thanks in advance for any advice Nick

 10. I put a set of these in an old Antoria 335 copy.... cracking pickups, great tone especially considering their price.
 11. Geoff bought a set of d'Addario black nylon tapewounds off me. Quick payment, good coms - top man. Recommended. Cheers Nick
 12. Bumpage for this great pickup at a bargain price. Go on, pimp your P-Bass!
 13. *SOLD - Mods please remove. Thanks* D'Addario ETB92 Black Nylon Tapewounds 50-105 (34") In great condition, think used for one gig on my Jazz bass, with original packet. Lot of love for these strings on here & on Talkbass, but they're just not for me - I'm digging Sadowsky flats at the moment. £16 inc. P&P Please PM me if interested. Thanks Nick
 14. Chris (19and85), bought a Woolly Mammoth clone off me. Good coms, prompt payment & a nice guy - recommended. Thanks Nick
 15. I'd recommend Justin (aka 'Subthumper' on BC) at Heron Music. Certainly knows what he's doing when it concerning amp repairs.
 16.
All good, but flats don't have to be thumpy and fat. They can be clanky, buzzy, boingy and toppy as well.
+1 Sadowsky flats on one my precisions have plenty of punch & an amazing attack, with not that much 'thump'.

 18. Zvex Woolly Mammoth Clone [s]Couple of these left, surplus to requirements from a run of building a few of these pedals for some mates...[/s] One now left..... Housed in matt black painted diecast enclosure. Control layout in a more useful (IMHO) vertical orientation rather than original's horizontal layout. The usual controls are here: Level , EQ , Wool (fuzz) & Pinch (gate) which enable a wide variety of tones. This versatile fuzz is not only great for bass, but also guitar. Wired true bypass switching & with a cool blue LED to indicate on/off status, though it's not difficult to hear when this is on! Powered by 9v battery (included), or by PSU via 'Boss' style 2.1mm socket. £55 ono (inc. P&P) [s]each or two for £100[/s] Please PM me if interested, or if requiring further info etc... Local pickup or drop-off in Bristol/Bath area is also possible. Thanks Nick
 19. Zvex Woolly Mammoth Clone One left over, surplus to requirement, from a run of building few of these pedals for mates.... Housed in a matt black painted diecast box, with control layout in a more useful (IMHO) vertical orientation, rather than the original's horizontal layout. The usual controls: Level, EQ, Wool (fuzz) & Pinch (gate) give out a wide range of tones - like the original Zvex model this is a pretty versatile fuzz, and not only great on bass but guitar also. It's true bypass & a cool blue LED indicates on/off status. Powered by 9v battery (included) or by PSU via standard Boss style 2.1mm socket. £55 ono inc. P&P Please PM me if interested, or if further info required etc.... Thanks Nick
 20.
Ive just taken delivery of a lovely used mighty mite neck from Nick on here and the screw holes all line up with the ones in my sx body but leaving about 1/8 inch gap between the end of the neck heel and the neck pocket which is annoying. Presumably it a case of drilling and filling with dowels and drilling new holes ?
General idea here....
 21. *SOLD - PENDING PAYMENT* EBS Multicomp (Dual Band Compressor) Older version, not true bypass but a very good buffer nonetheless. Three modes: 'tubesim' 'multiband' & normal. A lovely natural sounding compressor. I'm (finally ) finishing off building a Compulator clone, hence me selling the Multicomp. It's in excellent condition and at the bargainous price of £50 inc. P&P! Please PM me if interested or if requiring further info. Thanks Nick
 22. Will bought a P-Bass body from me. Prompt payment & good coms - top man. Cheers Nick
