  1. Got a channel for my band, Vantage Point, so obviously not dedicated to bass playing, but it does include a few videos of putting down the bass in the studio. Just to let you know the band is influenced by 70s hard rock and 80s metal. www.youtube.com/user/vantagepointrocks
  2. Some traditional hard rock / metal can be found at, Vantage Point - https://vantagepointrocks.bandcamp.com/ Mercy Breheny - https://mercybreheny.bandcamp.com/releases
  3. We are, what you would say as, in-between drummers, at the moment. For that session, Hannah McKay who was previously in the Amorettes, helped us out and played drums on a couple of tracks.
  4. Gig I first taped off Radio 1 when it was repeated in the early 90s. A fantastic gig with the great addition of the Tower of Power horns backing the News up.
  5. Status Quo – first band I bought an album by and the one I listened to during the years before music became an obsession. Huey Lewis & The News – bought their Hard at Play album in 1991 and music became everything, ZX Spectrum & Sega Master System lost their appeal, and playing sports was no longer the be all and end all. Iron Maiden – Got Fear of the Dark in 1992 and heavy metal became my way of life, got a guitar and the idea of being in a band was formed, and has continued on since then.
  6. A clear legend, I mean, how many other drummers made it on to Record Breakers?
  7. Our latest EP, Collision Course, is now available for anyone who should wish to give it a listen -
  8. Have completed another Lego video for the band, is for the song, Reverse the Charges, that features on our third album, Demonic Dinner Dance, which we released in 2014.
  9. Backbeat about Stuart Sutcliffe is a favourite of mine.
  10. I do play the odd bit of air bass, though when doing so it is always with fingers, while I use a pick with the real bass. The Steve Harris machine gun is probably my most used air bass move. I do though tend to air drum much more than air guitar or air bass, even though I can’t play drums in the slightest.
  11. Got a nice review of our latest EP in Powerplay Rock and Metal magazine.
  12. Fan of all eras of Rush, and I like at least something on every album they’ve done. But my favourite period is the 80s keyboard dominated one from Signals to Hold Your Fire. From that, Power Windows is my favourite.
  13. Started work on a new tune in the recording studio last week. The drums and bass are done, will be back in the studio in September to put down the guitars and get the vocals recorded. So this video is of a work in progress of the song, as it is all just drum and bass on the soundtrack.
  14. We've just released our second EP of 2019 to all the usual digital platforms.
  15. Quo had one hit in the States, Pictures of Matchstick Men. In his new book Rossi said in the early 70s they went down well in concerts in the States, but failed to get any airplay which prevented them making an impact. After a few years of attempts they gave up, as they felt they’d make money in the rest of the World from touring and then lose it all trying to make it in the US. The transition from big stages and nice hotels in Europe to small gigs and budget accommodation when they hit the States was off putting for them by the mid-70s. So they gave up. He also claims some record company guy said, “pay off my mortgage, and I’ll make you stars over here.” They apparently told him where to go, and that was that ...
  16. Own both the soundtrack on CD and the film on DVD and think it is great. I’ve never been much of a Tom Cruise fan, but thought he was great in the film, gave a really good performance in my eyes. Seen the musical as well, but prefer the film version.
  17. As much as I like Strangers in the Night, I still for the most part prefer the studio versions of the songs.
  18. Currently working on another Lego video for the band, stilll a bit to go before I finish, but have uploaded a clip of the guitar solo to youtube. The song, is Reverse the Charges which features on our third album, Demonic Dinner Dance, which can obviously be streamed in all the usual places.
  19. I'm looking for vocalists to guest on an album by my band, Vantage Point. Last year we released an album, Work Work Work, with the lyrical theme revolving around work. As the working day can be very similar from day to day we thought it might be interesting for some guest vocalists to take our tracks and write and sing their own lyrics. Thus you get an album, like the working day is quite similar to the previous one, but also a bit different ... The idea would be just to supply the backing track by e:mail and for people to go away and record their vocals and return to us for mixing in the studio. If anyone is interested they can either send me a message here or an e:mail to [email protected] If you want to check out our music to see what we are like, then we have quite a few videos on our youtube channel - www.youtube.com/user/vantagepointrocks Cheers.
  20. Thankfully it has so far only happened to me while playing guitar in a two guitar band, so was just a case of playing nothing for a bit, thus letting the other guitarist cover me while I tried and remember what it is I was supposed to be doing.
  21. Judas Priest - Bob Dylan, The ballad of Frankie Lee & Judas Priest
  22. My first thought was, Wishing Well, due to knowing both songs recorded by Black Sabbath & Free. But a quick check on Wiki and it would seem to be quite a popular song name, "Wishing Well" (Free song), 1972, covered by many other bands and artists "Wishing Well" (Terence Trent D'Arby song), 1987 "Wishing Well" (Phantom Planet song), 2004 "Wishing Well", a song by The Airborne Toxic Event from their self-titled debut album (2008) "Wishing Well", a song by Anastacia from Not That Kind (2000) "Wishing Well", a song by Angra from Temple of Shadows (2004) "Wishing Well", a song by Ben Moody from All for This (2009) "Wishing Well", a song by Black Sabbath from Heaven and Hell (1980) "Wishing Well", a song by Blind Melon from For My Friends (2008) "Wishing Well", a song by Blink-182 from Neighborhoods (2011) "Wishing Well", a song by Bob Mould from Workbook (1989) "Wishing Well", a song by Dani Stevenson (2010) "Wishing Well", a song by Converge from Axe to Fall (2009) "Wishing Well", a song by Morphine from Like Swimming (1997) "The Wishing Well" (song), a 1987 charity single
  23. Bryan Adams recorded a song called Diana, though it was about trying to lure some woman away from a bloke called Charles.
