  1. Our lead guitarist has put out a new solo single this month. So those that like their rock music unencumbered by vocals are welcome to check it out.
  2. Have taken the vocals off our cover of Power of Love and replaced them with lots of guitar and released an instrumental version of the track which is available to stream now. https://music.apple.com/gb/album/power-of-love-feat-liam-kane-instrumental-single/1722136442 https://www.amazon.co.uk/music/player/albums/B0CQN1TK8T
  3. It is another month, which means another release. This time a cover of the song, Run With Us, which was featured in the 80s cartoon, The Raccoons. https://music.amazon.co.uk/albums/B0CP5YM3SS https://music.apple.com/gb/album/run-with-us-feat-kel-brooks-single/1718890773
  4. Our first release of 2024 is a cover of the Kim Wilde track, Kids in America, it can of course be streamed on the digital platform of your choice. https://music.apple.com/gb/album/kids-in-america-feat-kel-brooks-single/1717634668 https://music.amazon.co.uk/albums/B0CNS6ZD9F
  5. I'd love to do Back in Time in my cover band. But unlike Huey I don't think we'd be able to convince the Tower of Power Horns to come along and back the band. So with just one guitar and bass we might struggle to pull it off.
  6. Our latest single is a cover of the Ghost track, Dance Macabre, which as always can be streamed wherever you like to listen to music. https://music.apple.com/gb/album/dance-macabre-feat-kel-brooks-single/1712634816
  7. Moving away from Maggie’s corset, we put another cover out this month, still in the 80s but a track that is slightly better known, and the bassline is more fun to play.
  8. Our second Huey Lewis cover is now available to stream on the digital platform of your choice. It is a slightly more well known track than previous cover, Don't Make Me Do It. Apple - https://music.apple.com/gb/album/power-of-love-feat-kel-brooks-single/1704150486 Amazon - https://music.amazon.co.uk/albums/B0CGJ6ZF96 Tidal - https://tidal.com/browse/album/312601119
  9. The trophy is based on the cover of our first album, Daredevil on the Shore. The artist usually puts the chap from it into our covers in some form or another.
  10. Yeah BA Robertson is credited with writing the song along with Edmonds, I'm assuming Noel would have given a hand with the lyrics as opposed to the music. I haven't seen anywhere who played on the recording, on Robertson's wiki entry it says along with writing it he contributed backing vocals. He also wrote the theme for Swap Shop which was on the b-side of the single, which I quite like, particularly the guitar solo.
  11. For those of you of a certain vintage that grew up in the UK, then you will remember the Saturday morning kids programme, Swap Shop. Some of you might even possibly remember that the three presenters, Noel Edmonds, Keith Chegwin and Maggie Philbin released a single, I Wanna Be A Winner, under the name, Brown Sauce. It was a top 20 hit in the charts. So my band, Vantage Point has released a cover of it, which meant I had a go at playing the bass line that Maggie put down all those years ago. You can remind yourself on Maggie on her Rickenbacker here - While the cover can be heard on the digital platform of your choice.
  12. Is the First Friday of the Month again, so we have put out a new song. Not an original this time as we have covered the Huey Lewis & the News track, Don't Make Me Do It. Apple - https://music.apple.com/gb/album/dont-make-me-do-it-single/1704151472 Amazon - https://music.amazon.co.uk/albums/B0CGJKTVFH Tidal - https://tidal.com/browse/album/312602787
  13. Having a go at track, I Think We're Alone Now, at the Dreadnought in Bathgate, with my covers band, Easily Distracted. We were a last minute replacement for a band that pulled out, and played to practically no-one, well the other band, bar staff, sound guy and a couple of punters were there. But it was still enjoyable to be back on stage as it was my first gig of 2023.
  14. Been in the studio recording some covers, for which here is a video of the drum and bass recording sessions for the Huey Lewis track, Power of Love.
  15. Is the First Friday of the month, so we put out another tune today.
  16. Another new tune unencumbered with vocals and featuring lots of widdling guitar for your enjoyment.
  17. Our latest release, Over & Out, draws on our Dio/Rainbow influences, maybe a bit too much, or maybe not, you can decide. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BYitutPcGac
  18. Living Daylights for me, love the film, the song and Dalton is my favourite Bond. The only downer about that movie for me was the tie in computer game on the ZX Spectrum, no matter how many times I tried, I could never get past the first level.
  19. Song has now appeared on YouTube for your listening pleasure ...
  20. For those that like the bass guitar prominent in the mix, then the new instrumental track from our lead guitar, Liam Kane, could be for you. Available on all the digital platforms except YouTube for some reason, hopefully it will appear there soon. 21. In the main I am still purchasing CDs, which I do listen to on the hi-fi at home or in the car, as it is still old enough to have a player. Then I also rip them for my MP3 player for use when out, particularly in the gym. As I don’t want to have to connect to the internet to listen to music while out and about, and I don’t really want my smartphone in my pocket as I’m working out. Which means I am slightly concerned that my choices of MP3 player is going to diminish during the next few years as industry seems to think everyone is happy to listen to music Through their phone. As for the streaming platforms, I do have a free Spotify account and listen to it quite regularly when I am on the laptop and online for some reason. On Spotify I either listen to different music that I don’t like enough to purchase, or bands I do like are making a bit more money out of me where I have bought the CD, and occasionally listen to it online as well.
  22. Our debut album, Daredevil on the Shore, celebrates its 15th Anniversary today. If you fancy checking out the title track, then here is a video of us on Seacliff Beach in North Berwick, East Lothian, with the Bass Rock and Tantallon Castle acting as a backdrop, as we pantomime along to the song.
  23. It is again the first Friday of the month, so have stuck out a couple of tunes into the digital world.
  24. My band did a song about a not very good dentist who we reimagined as serial killer ...
