  1. Own both the soundtrack on CD and the film on DVD and think it is great. I’ve never been much of a Tom Cruise fan, but thought he was great in the film, gave a really good performance in my eyes. Seen the musical as well, but prefer the film version.
  2. As much as I like Strangers in the Night, I still for the most part prefer the studio versions of the songs.
  3. Currently working on another Lego video for the band, stilll a bit to go before I finish, but have uploaded a clip of the guitar solo to youtube. The song, is Reverse the Charges which features on our third album, Demonic Dinner Dance, which can obviously be streamed in all the usual places.
  4. I'm looking for vocalists to guest on an album by my band, Vantage Point. Last year we released an album, Work Work Work, with the lyrical theme revolving around work. As the working day can be very similar from day to day we thought it might be interesting for some guest vocalists to take our tracks and write and sing their own lyrics. Thus you get an album, like the working day is quite similar to the previous one, but also a bit different ... The idea would be just to supply the backing track by e:mail and for people to go away and record their vocals and return to us for mixing in the studio. If anyone is interested they can either send me a message here or an e:mail to [email protected] If you want to check out our music to see what we are like, then we have quite a few videos on our youtube channel - www.youtube.com/user/vantagepointrocks Cheers.
  5. Thankfully it has so far only happened to me while playing guitar in a two guitar band, so was just a case of playing nothing for a bit, thus letting the other guitarist cover me while I tried and remember what it is I was supposed to be doing.
  6. Judas Priest - Bob Dylan, The ballad of Frankie Lee & Judas Priest
  7. My first thought was, Wishing Well, due to knowing both songs recorded by Black Sabbath & Free. But a quick check on Wiki and it would seem to be quite a popular song name, "Wishing Well" (Free song), 1972, covered by many other bands and artists "Wishing Well" (Terence Trent D'Arby song), 1987 "Wishing Well" (Phantom Planet song), 2004 "Wishing Well", a song by The Airborne Toxic Event from their self-titled debut album (2008) "Wishing Well", a song by Anastacia from Not That Kind (2000) "Wishing Well", a song by Angra from Temple of Shadows (2004) "Wishing Well", a song by Ben Moody from All for This (2009) "Wishing Well", a song by Black Sabbath from Heaven and Hell (1980) "Wishing Well", a song by Blind Melon from For My Friends (2008) "Wishing Well", a song by Blink-182 from Neighborhoods (2011) "Wishing Well", a song by Bob Mould from Workbook (1989) "Wishing Well", a song by Dani Stevenson (2010) "Wishing Well", a song by Converge from Axe to Fall (2009) "Wishing Well", a song by Morphine from Like Swimming (1997) "The Wishing Well" (song), a 1987 charity single
  8. Bryan Adams recorded a song called Diana, though it was about trying to lure some woman away from a bloke called Charles.
  9. Open strings are a chance for some major pointing at the audience.
  10. We have just released a new EP to all the usual digital platforms,
  11. Do like the stuff that Geddy mentioned in the Guardian interview, but not much of it would make personal favourite list, it would include Everyday Glory Time Stand Still Middletown Dreams Manhattan Project The Body Electric Headlong Flight Bravado
  12. Have finished my latest stop motion Lego video for the band. Used the Sydney Opera House set for this, inspired by Thin Lizzy playing there back in the 1970’s. Figured it was the only way I was going to get Vantage Point to perform in Australia. Though with ‘Lizzy the crowd was on the steps, as opposed to the band in this video. The song, Just When I Wasn’t Lookin’ is a digital only single that we released a few years ago, and it features a guest vocal from Martin Jakubski who has been part of Steve Rothery’s touring band recently.
  13. When I was first into music as a teenager and then through my 20s and early 30s I was pretty much 100% hard rock /metal in my listening. I have mellowed in the last few years and started getting into early 80s pop/synth/new wave music. Probably not quite at an 80/20 balance yet, but starting to approach it.
  14. I wonder what attendances would have been like if they had tried playing the rest of the dates on the tour after the story broke, would the publicity have generated some punters?
  15. Glad you like it, and definitely no offense with the Priest comment, everyone in the band is a fan of them, we used to double as a Priest tribute band a few years ago.
  16. We did a pretty basic film in rehearsal for one of our old tracks so as to put up on our youtube channel,
  17. There is a post on Super Deluxe Edition listing all that is contained in the boxset. Seems very comprehensive, but is missing the one thing I think most people would want, a remix to make the bass audible. http://www.superdeluxeedition.com/news/metallica-and-justice-for-all-box-set/
  18. I was at Thunder gig in 2009 that they released a DVD from on their, “20 years and out, farewell tour.” I have of course seen them several times since they subsequently got back together. Other than that, with the advent of bands recording and selling gigs on the night, I have a few CDs of concerts I’ve attended, but nothing that would be seen as a major live release from a band.
  19. Yeah I find the Zoom great for recording sound at gigs or in rehearsal, it doesn’t provide great video in low light but I’m not too fussed about that. It can cope with loud volume without overloading and distorting, unlike my digital cameras. Then obviously I can use the Zoom sound with the video from my digital cameras and get a presentable video as a result.
  20. Just the one, a Charvel I bought 2nd hand back in 1994 for £200. Admittedly I play guitar in my band and have only played the bass at five or six gigs, so it isn't that road-worn as such.
  21. I'd have thought that as they are in the studio that there is a good chance Angus might just play the bass himself, then worry about getting someone for the tour should it happen.
  22. We filmed a promo video on the roof of a building in Edinburgh for the track, @ Attack, which is on our current album, Work Work Work.
  23. At the end of rehearsals, where we’ve been working on new material, we have done some short clips of our guitarist playing guitar solos by other artists. Last week I had a go playing bass for The Final Countdown, while he shredded away.
  24. I’ve been noodling about on the bass and guitar while watching Wimbledon on the TV, not watched a match in the World Cup.
  25. Just ordered myself a copy, looking forward to seeing it, loved, Beyond the Lighted Stage.
