  1. Open strings are a chance for some major pointing at the audience.
  2. We have just released a new EP to all the usual digital platforms,
  3. Do like the stuff that Geddy mentioned in the Guardian interview, but not much of it would make personal favourite list, it would include Everyday Glory Time Stand Still Middletown Dreams Manhattan Project The Body Electric Headlong Flight Bravado
  4. Have finished my latest stop motion Lego video for the band. Used the Sydney Opera House set for this, inspired by Thin Lizzy playing there back in the 1970’s. Figured it was the only way I was going to get Vantage Point to perform in Australia. Though with ‘Lizzy the crowd was on the steps, as opposed to the band in this video. The song, Just When I Wasn’t Lookin’ is a digital only single that we released a few years ago, and it features a guest vocal from Martin Jakubski who has been part of Steve Rothery’s touring band recently.
  5. When I was first into music as a teenager and then through my 20s and early 30s I was pretty much 100% hard rock /metal in my listening. I have mellowed in the last few years and started getting into early 80s pop/synth/new wave music. Probably not quite at an 80/20 balance yet, but starting to approach it.
  6. I wonder what attendances would have been like if they had tried playing the rest of the dates on the tour after the story broke, would the publicity have generated some punters?
  7. Glad you like it, and definitely no offense with the Priest comment, everyone in the band is a fan of them, we used to double as a Priest tribute band a few years ago.
  8. We did a pretty basic film in rehearsal for one of our old tracks so as to put up on our youtube channel,
  9. There is a post on Super Deluxe Edition listing all that is contained in the boxset. Seems very comprehensive, but is missing the one thing I think most people would want, a remix to make the bass audible. http://www.superdeluxeedition.com/news/metallica-and-justice-for-all-box-set/
  10. I was at Thunder gig in 2009 that they released a DVD from on their, “20 years and out, farewell tour.” I have of course seen them several times since they subsequently got back together. Other than that, with the advent of bands recording and selling gigs on the night, I have a few CDs of concerts I’ve attended, but nothing that would be seen as a major live release from a band.
  11. Yeah I find the Zoom great for recording sound at gigs or in rehearsal, it doesn’t provide great video in low light but I’m not too fussed about that. It can cope with loud volume without overloading and distorting, unlike my digital cameras. Then obviously I can use the Zoom sound with the video from my digital cameras and get a presentable video as a result.
  12. Just the one, a Charvel I bought 2nd hand back in 1994 for £200. Admittedly I play guitar in my band and have only played the bass at five or six gigs, so it isn't that road-worn as such.
  13. I'd have thought that as they are in the studio that there is a good chance Angus might just play the bass himself, then worry about getting someone for the tour should it happen.
  14. We filmed a promo video on the roof of a building in Edinburgh for the track, @ Attack, which is on our current album, Work Work Work.
  15. At the end of rehearsals, where we’ve been working on new material, we have done some short clips of our guitarist playing guitar solos by other artists. Last week I had a go playing bass for The Final Countdown, while he shredded away.
  16. I’ve been noodling about on the bass and guitar while watching Wimbledon on the TV, not watched a match in the World Cup.
  17. Just ordered myself a copy, looking forward to seeing it, loved, Beyond the Lighted Stage.
  18. Money made from sales and streams has been negligible. I've always made more money from selling CDs that what we've been paid for in streams and downloads. But unfortunately we have never sold enough CDs to cover the cost of getting them printed up. When we play gigs I still have enough of our previous albums to go round the punters afterwards with something to sell. If I ever get rid of them, then I might consider getting the new one printed up.
  19. You can purchase them from, https://vantagepointrocks.bandcamp.com/merch getting the price of CDs is fine, I don’t add on anything for shipping, just means I get a bit more money from a local sale than a foreign one. But that is fine, just happy to get rid of any at the moment – didn’t do a physical release of our latest album due to still having lots of previous in boxes.
  20. I do mean hundreds of copies of the same album that remain, unfortunately, very unsold – but I always hope they will be bought ;-)
  21. Well I've certainly got hundreds of albums in my garage that were released by my band, unfortunately they all look and sound very similar ...
  22. It maybe peaked for him in 1971, but certainly not for me, I only have two or three albums released up to and including 1971, but have hundreds released after in my collection.
  23. Decided to add a different bass line to, On the Road, that we recorded bass and drums for back in November. Will use the newly recorded version as the bassist for a new instrumental track, Collision Course. Means we'll end up with two tracks with the same drum track by the time we have ended recording. https://www.youtube.com/user/VantagePointrocks/videos
  24. I need to watch this, I’m aware of Jeff Beck but know very little of his work outside his contribution to the Jon Bon Jovi solo album, Young Guns, and playing Johnny B Goode in the film, The Pope Must Die. I assume there is more to his career than all that, though I do think the guitar solos on the Young Guns album are brilliant.
  25. But when Alec John Such was in the band they released great albums, Slippery, New Jersey, Keep the Faith, when he left they put out a few average ones, These Days, Crush & Bounce, before releasing absolute tosh in The Circle, Lost Highway, Have a Nice Day etc ... Are you telling me this is just pure co-incidence? I always assumed it was the change in bass player that resulted in the drop in quality of their output ...
