  1. 4.1 kg is just a tad too heavy for me. Good luck with the sale.
  2. I'm on the verge of maybe buying a bass there. Contact ,by phone and by mail, so far has been very pleasant.
  3. Pfff the bathroom scales juist saved me some money
  4. This. Only way to know if the bass works for me is to have it at home and do some recording with it and take it (yes very carefully) to a band rehearsal. A lovely sound on its own in the shop means nothing to me.
  5. Yep. There are days when I pick up my bass and I'm on fire. I can play anything with ease and it sounds massive and tight. Other days.... my fingers don't follow the logic of my brain and on top of that the same bass in the same room with the same amp and settings sounds terrible.
  6. Hi, Not so long ago I emailed with Ibanez that I was about to buy an older than 2015 bass and I wanted to replace the mid switch (from two to three frequencies) and asked what exactly needed to be replaced and this was their answer. Since your bass is from before 2015 you need to replace the whole preamp which should be these articles: 3EMP3LD: Listprice: €14,20 3EMV5-S: Listprice: €11,70 3EMB410B-SB: Listprice: €18,00 3EMM247-SB: Listprice: €13,30 The deliverytime is around 1 month. I assumed that the parts could be ordered at the local dealer or distributor? In the end I didn't buy the bass so I didn't follow op on it.
  7. Thanks @kodiakblair, I'll take a deeper look into it later but for what I saw just now checking quickly is that the provided link is for businesses (airfreight?) only. And for sending parcels as a private person the max size is one meter again.
  8. Hi @kodiakblair, Have you by any chance spoken to them already ?
  9. @fretmeister Do you by any chance know if there will also be a VM version?
  10. @kodiakblair Yes this is not what I expected either, strange and differing regulations everywhere. @alyctes I could unscrew the neck but for now I just want to find out if it would at all be possible to just send a bass in it's case or a box.
  11. @kodiakblair Just spend almost an hour on the phone again with GLS. This time I spoke to someone who was very helpful and willing to try to work everything out. After 20 minutes she had figured it out and told me it was no problem for GLS to send the bass for me. But within a few minutes she called me back saying sorry, there had been a misunderstanding and once again I was told it couldn't be done. We then again went through the whole website to check because there is mention of different sizes on different pages. She checked with a colleague, a floormanager, a manager, someone from the sales department plus the head of the parcelshops (where I would have to bring the bass to be sent abroad) and in the end the verdict was that it couldn't be done. And they couldn't offer me another solution either, if you have a company and if you are a client of GLS then you can send bigger parcels, otherwise it's not possible. I just don't get it and I'm very tired of it right now. Maybe next week I'll try again, other things to do now.
  12. @kodiakblair Thanks for checking and thinking along. I had GLS on the phone and they told me no can do. I don't have a business/company so I have to send as a private person, only way to do it is by bringing the parcel to a nearby parcelshop. Rules are that they don't accept packages larger than 150cm combined length plus width, so a cardboard box from another bass I had send to me that is 128cm long and 50cm wide is a no go. I'm baffled because I hear of people sending stuff up an down Europe but I just can't get any of the couriers agreeing on accepting my parcel. I'll keep checking and making phonecalls, if there is news I'll report it here.
  13. My main problem is that the quotes I find are around 40/50 euro but all companies have a policy that with international shipping the maximum length may not exceed 100cm. I'm trying to send a bass from the Netherlands to Croatia and I'm really having a hard time finding a suitable courier. I tried GLS, DPD, Post NL and a few more and they all said the same and where kinda unhelpful in finding a solution. So could you please enlighten me how on earth are you guys sending basses in their cases or boxes abroad?
  14. When I discovered EST I felt so lucky. It's such a great feeling when I stumble upon artists that I've not heard of before and they knock me off my feet just like in my teenage years (53 now). Esbjorn Svensson ticked all my boxes, both intellectually and emotionally.
  15. This is what got me startend on liking jazz. I don't play it a lot though, this coming sunday I have a jazz gig for the first time in years, but every time I do I love it.
  16. Yes Stop Making Sense was an amazing experience for me too but this is the concert I would like to invent a time machine for. At 49.05 they play the best version of Born Under Punches ever, I can listen to that for days.
  17. Brilliant stuff, thank you very much for sharing.
  18. Last friday the 13th we went to the North Sea Jazz festival in Rotterdam. Lots of good stuff but we specifically went to see Snarky Puppy with the Metropole Orchestra and Kurt Elling. We where on the front row at both concerts and both where fantastic.
  19. Poweramp in, bypasses the preamp so you can use a different preamp than the one on the combo. Preamp out is for using a separate poweramp plus speaker with the preamp of your combo. Oops obviously I need to speed up my typing.
