2. Great channel! Really enjoyed your approach. Playing sounds great :-) cheers Geoff
3.
Have you ever done a duo gig with a pianist who plays solo a lot? Its happened to me a few times (also jazz gitar) and the first ten mins or so can be a real challenge! Usually settles down after a tune or two, but it can be very strange sitting in someones else's private time bubble....
sure, those duo gigs are always a great reminder to keep working on my time/feel, especially with guitar.
4.
Which is always good! I think recordings do tend to bring out just how crap you sound. Of course it's more of a shock to people when they first hear themselves because they usually think they're totally awesome before they begin (this isn't a personal comment just a general observation). Anyway i thought it sounded fine. Liked the blues thing. Possibly need to work on the timing in areas but other than that, great.
yep I agree. time is the no 1 area for improvement. I think that when I'm playing unaccompanied I'm too concerned about intonation as it's so exposed.
5.
Good stuff (always tempting to say "mmm niiiccee" in the jazz voice). I wondered what you sounded like...and now I know!
Thanks BassBod. It's a bit of an odd way of recording/playing bass as i don't do any 'solo' gigs. I've learned a lot from the process of recording these though. Now I have a better understanding of what areas of my playing are weaker and what I need to work on.
6. thanks Johnny, ive done an updated version with better audio (the old one was a bit quiet). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7GO8YwkKuFI Ive also just posted an unaccompanied version of Autumn Leaves http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DYNEUeuphrU they are all just demo recordings done on the iphone. Theres a few 'rough notes' but ive enjoyed the process of recording them. Im going to try some bass guitar stuff when ive got time. cheers for listening Geoff
7. I love F basses. The preamp is amazing! Good luck with your sale.
8. Great bass/price. Good luck with your sale
9. Kenny is a monster player. It's great to see him doing so well. His sense of time/groove/feel is unbeatable. I love his playing!
10. The full circle is a great pup. I would recommend it and adjusters are really useful if you don't have them. Cheers Geoff
11.
That's an endorsement and a half, I have to say. Makes me wish I was back in Granadaland again - well almost.
The Major and myself had a bass guitar jam yesterday and I'm really grateful for his kind words. Of course he's an amazing jazz bass guitar and double bassist, as well as a pro orchestra player! I've never met another bassist who plays pro jazz/popular music with a pro orchestra job. If I had to attempt to play in a pro orchestra I would not get called back! :-) It's great to hear good reviews but especially from more experienced professionals like The Major :-)
12. Hey jez. Good to hear you are still loving the upright. I've been using a markbass 12" combo at a club I have a residency with and really like it! Enjoy the gig. Cheers Geoff
13. This is an amazing price! I wish I had the cash. :-)
14. Hi Major! This is REALLY well presented. It's a great Resource. Thanks for all your effort. Cheers Geoff
15. Great looking bass Paul! :-)
16. I used to own a DBS head and 15 cab. It was very underpowered, really not good. This sounds cheap, but it's a really heavy rig. Mine was VERY quiet despite the mad power ratings.
17. I give it it 6 months till your back to flexicores on your classical bass and spiros on your jazz! :-)
18. Count me in :-)
19. Thanks for the kind words guys. The bass is a Paul Bryant (john lott model) with Evah Weichs.
20. Here's a blues I did today, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5IHFxLpm7vM...be_gdata_player
21. Just realised the volume is a bit low. . . I will try to get some better recordings done.
22. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7GO8YwkKuFI any comments would be welcome. It's just a rough recording in my practice room :-)
23. I have the same bass and it's an amazing instrument. I can highly recommend it!
24. Sorry i'm only intrested in evah regulars with very low playing time. I doubt anyone has any with similar amount of use so it will probably end up a straight sale. Cheers Geoff
25. Hi guys, I've been experimenting with strings again! I've got a set of evah pirazzi weichs with less than 10 hours playing from new. They have only been on my bass and had light use. They are unmarked. I want to try the evah regulars with this bass so if anyone has a full set with similar low use then I would consider a trade. I would also trade for a fishman pro platinum bass. For sale at £85 posted Cheers Geoff
