  1. Yeah, stick it back on and blend it back in.
  2. Indeed it does! I believe these are jazz profile necks. That’s why I bought this one as the neck was so lovely.
  3. Good point. I’ve got the worlds worst man flu at the moment and just had some terrible brain fog. I’ve updated the title, but there’s no attempt to deceive.
  4. Currently strung with Chromes, but I'll swap these to my Jazz bass so will come with a brand new set of Rotos.
  5. Here is my Squier Precision Mini in Dakota Red. This is new and has never been played. I bought this for my kids but they both prefer acoustic guitar (no accounting for taste) and I keep knocking it when I adjust my guitar cases so it has to go. Does £125 delivered sound reasonable? The neck will need some lemon oil, as this has been stored for 2 years. Probably have the original receipt somewhere. Reason for sale is space and gear rationalisation. (And, err, something large and expensive incoming).
  6. Here is my Squier Precision P/J special. This was my gigging back up bass and is lovely! I’ve had the pots and the jack socket all replaced and the bass was recently set-up. Its been well used and what you’d call roadwork condition. The pickups are strong and it plays amazingly well. I’ve had a guess at the value as I simply don’t know. Having invested a few quid on it, this seems fair but feel free to DM and chat! £180 collected from Bristol or handover somewhere nearby. Reason for sale is space and gear rationalisation. (And, err, something large and expensive incoming).
  7. I think there are two elements: build quality and iconic status. Are Ricks and Harleys iconic? Without a doubt. Do they suffer from dubious build quality? In my experience, yes. Did I thoroughly enjoy owning them? Yes!
  8. Love a bit of Lizzy! This is great, good luck with it.
  9. Have you seen the picture of Sting with his? Looks like a beauty and given all the work done by the Martin team I’m pretty sure it’s incredibly playable too.
  10. I had a Harley (883 with some crazy pipes on it) and the carb blocked and it leaked an entire tank of fuel on my driveway. Great days (not). No Rickenbacker has ever done that to me. My best ever bike was a 2002 R1150 GS which I loved with all my heart. I guess you’d compare that to a Warwick?
  11. I love them. Don’t own one. But love them.
  12. Ben has exquisite taste in instruments, and I have 100% confidence this will be amazing. Looks like an incredible deal for someone.
  13. Agreed. We bought some incredible PA cabs on BC for very little cash.
  14. This assumes perfect market conditions, which as we know don't exist. If all dealers of one item or commodity (petrol, for example, or guitars) get together and set a baseline price that indicates to consumers that that's their true value. In this case, dealers are constantly pushing the bar for these instruments higher, which suggests to buyers (those looking for investments, one would assume) that this is their true value. My contention is that there's collusion to do this (and always has been). It just so happens that it's Wal now, but they can (and will) do this with other instruments. PRS perhaps, Status, Goodfellow – who knows. Seeing prices rising steadily suggests that they're a good investment (you won't lose money with a Wal, etc) when, again, this isn't necessarily true. My point initially, was that people are being encouraged to spend large amounts on items that aren't particularly rare because they're being manipulated to do it. These tricks are at play in all retail environments. (I'm a partner in a retail business, and none of this stuff is rocket science).
  15. Playing in a band is pretty much the only reason I now play an instrument. after the enforced isolation of covid, ain’t nothing better than playing music together and entertaining people.
  16. I’ve sold almost all the basses and guitars I own and don’t regret any of them. Currently have just four left to go. (Squier P/J, anniversary Jazz, 71 Martin D35, and a US tele). My house is tidier, wallet heavier, and domestically happier! Which reminds me, I should be advertising them soon.
  17. Ahh, I wondered what this is all about. I must admit I have no idea who Matt Garrison is.
  18. I love this video. Not one root note in an hour of practice... The guy is an insane talent, but personally, he seems to be playing bass guitar like a jazz guitar which is cool but it lacks the timbre and note definition of a jazz guitar. Hey ho.
  19. It's great to learn that world famous and insanely talented musicians have the same sort of fights and tantrums that us mere mortals do. I couldn't watch the video all the way through, to be honest, but he seems like a good guy. His books are great as well.
  20. I was in an originals band and was “encouraged” to miss one day of a holiday to do a gig that was an absolute waste of time. I understand the OPs point. I’d you’ve developed a set with transitions and arrangements with syncopation then a dep is never going to be able to drop in. So you’re worried that the band isn’t delivering its best. If you’re playing “Sex on Fire” at an estate agents’ conference it hardly matters, but if you’re playing to a fee paying crowd I’d be disappointed. Im in a band with a super-busy drummer and he’s always open and honest about what he can and can’t do and (so far) not been an issue.
  21. I’m intrigued at this thread. The aluminium bass with the crazy bridge above looks like something from the future!!!
  22. Haha, yes, I can imagine that being a problem! When I took an old bass into a luthier he found two plastic spiders and a crayon in there. Given the simplicity of these foam blockers I reckon I could pretty easily get one made from a firm here and we could test them out. I'll give it some thought today.
  23. You should be able to take a template (or even take the bass) to a foam cutters and they'll do it for you. These are available, but the price is pretty crazy for such a simple item. And looking at it, the construction of these is pretty rustic... https://www.thomann.de/gb/duke_f_hole_cover_gfk_black.htm
  24. Alls well that ends well, it seems Wes may have something that works slightly better for me. I’m not disappointed in the slightest, think we’re all excited to see how you get on with it. I think a few of us would really love to see some demo videos or hear some sound recordings when you’re able to.
  25. It’s likely the shrink wrap was likely part of the reason it was held up. They notoriously cause issues for scanners which mean they’re manually processed rather than automatically. As for condition reports, it’s notoriously difficult isn’t it? I hope you manage to resolve this.
