  1. On the other hand, musicians have obsessive fans and are likely to pay the cash for something like this.
  2. This is a good idea. It's not my thing really (I don't have £120 or a start), but I can definitely see how this would be successful. There are some quite high upfront costs, but if you've got the cash, good luck to you.
  3. Good advice. Last time we stayed in one, the guitarist called ahead and the manager there allowed us to put all the gear in a locked room overnight. It was opposite the reception which was operated 24/7. Assume this was at her discretion, but it was excellent service:
  4. This is an excellent articulation of the difference.
  5. 100% agree. I've been playing 27 years and my backup bass is an HB jazz bass. It's perfect for its job.
  6. Love Edwinn Starr. Was 25 miles that got me into soul music.
  7. I think the OP is joking and probably understands the various no-amp practice methods out there. I used to get paid a mileage allowance to cycle to different NHS work bases and considered myself (for that travel time) to be a pro cyclist.
  8. They’re physically printed tags. Of course, in an ideal world, they’d do this but the chap explained to me it would take too long as they fluctuate daily. The shops will likely be tracking online prices daily using a programme and updating them to ensue they’re competitive. This is how online businesses work. (I know because I’ve work with lots of them) I just don’t get someone wandering around a shop and not stopping someone and asking a question, especially if I wanted to buy an item.
  9. This is really stupid. I bought my bass at PMT and I asked about the online price. The guy explained that they simply don’t have time to alter the prices every time they change and they always honour the online price. In fact, it it were cheaper online anywhere they’d match it. The online and in-person operations are the same. The price you pay will be the same online as in the shop. Speak to a person and all will be well.
  10. Folding stand I used to take to gigs. I’ve got two and I only need one. This folds flat so good for those with small cars!
  11. I discovered this in the attic while packing stuff away. Koening and Meyer electric double bass stand. In excellent condition. £65 including delivery. https://www.bax-shop.co.uk/miscellaneous-musical-instrument-stands/konig-meyer-14160-electric-double-bass-stand?utm_source=google&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=surfaces&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=17858053119&utm_term=&adgroup=&creative=&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiA9ourBhAVEiwA3L5RFls2e2D5QwdnO7dueFU0-i10LiCRsvOn6C_ViaDTNLIfm5Xi9KwPGxoCQv0QAvD_BwE
  12. I’ve just discovered 3 x straps. Fender black one £4 Fender tweed - £8 Police one £5 Postage £3.30 each Will sell all for £16 delivered
  13. Any interest? I need the space and I don't use these. Prefer to sell as a job lot...
  14. I could do with the cash at the moment, but there's always a deal to be done. I simply don't play it and as much as I'd love to keep it, it really seems indulgent, wasteful and a bit selfish to do so. It's a professional grade instrument and it's not doing anything sat here with me.
  15. I've not played this in a month and as beautiful as it is, having it here isn't working out. Happy for it to go to someone who is going to use it and have reduced the price to £4995.
  16. This is an exceptional bass but I’m guessing it’s a bit too expensive? How about £99
  17. https://www.guitar-auctions.co.uk/sale/209/557/John-Entwistle-interest--1972-Fender-Precision-bass-guitar-made-in-USA-serial-no-376250 You would have hoped the auctioneers had looked at the image of Entwistle with the bass and figured out it obviously isn’t the same one. (Hint: look at the headstock).
  18. Here it is at the gig.
  19. On Saturday I was on my way to a gig with my 1940s/1950s style blues and I needed to take a bass as backup to my double bass that wasn't a modern Fender (the band leader told me!). I went on FB and found what I thought was a modern Burns reissue bass for £100. Agreed to pick it up and use it that evening. When I turned up the guy was a bit flustered as he'd had a huge response to the advert. He pulled it out of the case, and it was an original 1962 Burns Vista Sonic bass in untouched condition. Feeling a bit wary, we had a chat and it turned out it was his grandads and he was selling it for him, and he wanted it to go to a musician as he didn't play. Not really knowing much about Burns guitars (despite my username) I took it to the gig and popped it on display if needed (it wasn't). When I got home, I checked out how much they're selling for and was blown away. It's going to the shop today for a bit of work on the electronics, but a pretty bonkers day. The gig money paid for the bass, too.
  20. You should have stuff you want, need, and love. I truly believe we’d all be happy with less stuff, but I can’t help accumulating things as it’s part of who I am. I have one bass I use, one spare in a case I take to gigs, and one I saved up for 4 years to buy (and will never sell).
