2.
Are these still available?
Well I haven't finalised a sale and are you wanting both cabs or a single? cheers

 4.
Shame..I bought one new just the other week to complete a set or I would have been interested in one of them. This will make a nice lightweight cab set-up for someone..good luck
Thanks, shame it wasn't a week earlier eh.
 5. Gillento from Luxembourg wants these. The lucky thing is, I'm playing there next week so he gets free delivery, what lucky bassists we are. WILL SELL AS SINGLES AS I HAVE ONE INTERESTED BUYER FOR ONE SPEAKER. £100 for BOTH Aguilar speakers ...Replacement for 12" cabs I'm selling these two unused speakers (as well as two GS112 cabs in the Amps/Cabs listing) They were brought in as spares for touring but never used. The price doesn't include postage. I'm on the Surrey/NE Hants border off the A3. Poss. meet up M25 areas.
 6. BOTH SOLD ... thank you all for the enquiries. £500 price for both ... I have 2 Aguilar GS112 cabs for sale, ( the ones with the horn). I used them for a handful of gigs and a few duo gigs with one cabinet. I got into Mark Bass about the same time I got these, these were storedin a f/case in the garage. One cabinet has a very small ciggy burn mark (courtesy of a guitarist!) but it isn't an eyesore. I'm based on the Surrey/Hants border off the A3 area. I don't seem to be able to upload pics today into Basschat but I'll try again (new computer may be confusing me!) ps looks like pics uploaded. Possibility is arising to sell the cabs as single units... ONE HAS NOW BEEN PAID FOR THE OTHER ON HOLD AWAITING PAYMENT .
 7.
Has anyone ever had a double bass refinished? I have a bass which I don't really like the colour of and wondered if it's possible to refinish in a darker colour, remove the shiny look of it and therefore improve my quality of life. Any thoughts or idea of costs? Steve
Possibly hundreds to have a proper double bass repairer redo it with a new darker finish. They should give you a quote though which will help you decide.

 9.
A lot of the gear being sold here is bulky, heavy and not-at-all Postie-friendly, so understandably is collection only. It would make it a lot easier - and less heartbreaking - to know where the gear is first, without reading through lists of mouthwatering specs & insane bargain prices - only to find the amp or cab is 460 miles away... So go on - tell us where you are in the topic sub-heading. Jon.
This idea ties in with putting a price on stuff for sale too. As much info that can be used to sell gear is beneficial to all parties interested.
 10.
Hello All. I am new to Bass chat forums, and I would like to briefly introduce myself. I know there is a "Introductions" section, but I am mainly in need of some advice, so I decided to post here. My name is Harvey and I have been playing bass for 2 years. I have a Yamaha RBX 180 and I am currently trying to choose a new bass. I also have a line 6 Bass Floor Pod. I am part of a deathcore band that is beggining to get big in our local area, and we have a spot on a tour in July and play regular local gigs with some rather large bands. I've played a bass with frets the whole time I have been playing and not tried out a fretless. I was just wondering what the advantages/disadvantages are of a fretless bass, as I am very interested in one. Thank youu in advance (: Harvey.
There are lots of advantages but it takes time to find them. You would have to make sure that you practise intonation day in day out, probably for some considerable time, just like a double bass/cello/violin student would have to. However, the fretted bass does have a its own values and the "clunk" of the fret against string can be the more aggressive and better sound for certain music, like metal or rock or thumb/slap bass.
It was, and don't I just wish I still had it, along with the Tobacco sunburst EB3 that I traded for a Ricky (4004 stereo I think) which was then traded for the pictured Les Paul bass.
And then this popped up at the bottom of Basschat page, I think I bought mine for about £300's in a Shepherds Bush music shop, now long gone. 13.
I've got a Gibson Les Paul Bass. Its a 1991 I know that much, it was bought from the Gibson HQ in New York but I've never found anything out about it. I'll upload a photo in the morning. Its serial is 93381317. Nashville Plant, TN, USA December 4th, 1991 Production Number: 17 Its loaded with 2 Bartolini humbuckers, all black with a translucent dark brown top. If anyone knows anything or can shed any light that'd be great! Cheers Steve
Reelin' in the years here but...... I bought a Les Paul Recording bass in the 70's. It was tobacco colour finish, two Gibson (?) humbuckers. There were two in the shop. I eventually had mine converted to a long scale neck by Dick Knight and if my memory serves me right, I think Dick had added a bass clef at the 12/13th frets. The precursor to this era Les Paul was called a "Triumph" bass and I think was usually a clear spray finish. Anyone got it?
 14. Wow, Exactly the same as my bass too. Good luck with the sale as I think this is a very good price. These are nice all round sounding basses, hard workers and not too heavy.
 15.
I'm looking to record a new album this year but I'm struggling to find a decent studio that isn't geared more towards Emo / Indie acts. I want a studio engineer that isn't phased by double bass, banjo or mandolin & ideally with an understanding of Americana / Folk / Country music. We're based mainly across Berkshire but with a drummer in Dorset so our catchment area would be there but with West London being a consideration if it was a good studio. Also South Oxfordshire or North Hants are certainly areas we'd consider. Anyone? Google isn't giving much away
I haven't been here but have heard good reports. Situated in or near Ringwood. 16.
NOW AT £50 EACH... I have 2 unused spare Aguilar 12" speakers, chassis only, (not enclosures). Both bought about 4 years ago along with my Aguilar cabs as spares for touring work and unused. Collection / meet up preferred or posting at your cost. An earlier posting I did gave info that one speaker had slight edge damage but this must have been replaced with a "new" speaker as these two have no damage at all.
BUMP
 17.
never used,get in touch £50.
Still got it?
 18.
Is the £50 inclusive of postage?
I hadn't put postage into the (now reduced) price but we aren't that far away from each other. I am based NE Hants/A3 Hindhead so Basingstoke could be a pretty good halfway point to meet at. Please let me know what you want to do.

 20.
I have 2 spare Aguilar 12" speakers, chassis only, (not enclosures). Both bought about 4 years ago along with my Aguilar cabs as spares for touring work and unused. Weirdly, one has a small "bite" sized piece missing on a metal edge, how and why is a mystery but it won't affect sound performance at all. Both boxed. Collection or posting at your discretion and cost. £50 EACH
BUMP
 21.
with respect i may be nieve here but isnt that deer?
Thanks for the polite question, respected and I presume a typo error in "deer". Well I'm not sure about the price to be honest. Bought through management when touring (decucted from wages). I think the USA price is about $85 each, import them with tax and postage and that is going to take it over this asking price. If you or anyone is intersted for the 2 units please PM me. In consideration to your point I'll make them £50 EACH....Howzat. cheers I'VE JUST SEEN THE AGUILAR SITE HAS 12" SPEAKERS AT $139.99 EACH, INCLUDING POSTAGE AND IMPORT TAX, A HEFTY PRICE TO PAY INDEED. DOESN'T SEEM QUITE RIGHT TO ME.
 22. NOW AT £50 EACH... I have 2 unused spare Aguilar 12" speakers, chassis only, (not enclosures). Both bought about 4 years ago along with my Aguilar cabs as spares for touring work and unused. Collection / meet up preferred or posting at your cost. 23.
Hi Gareth There are some amazing deals on ebay. I bought 2 chinese brazilwood bows for £40 each inc p+p. They are on the heavy side so not ideal for delicate spicatto work, but for most playing they work well. I just keep them as spares, as I have a couple of Paesold bows, one which cost £1000, but my favourite one was only £150 (admittedly some 10 years ago or so - probably a bit more costly now). I use this one almost all the time. The Major
BEWARE buying Chinese bows from China direct. I thought I would try this, wanting a German style bow just to try out against my french style. Bow arrived padded inside a heavy plastic tube, as wide as gutter piping. The bow though was warped and had to be sent back to China after I had supplied/emailed photos to them back in China. They wanted to know the postage price as they reimburse that. In the plastic pipe it was about £30! They wouldn't pay that so instructed me to BREAK the bow and send back the frog end only. After emailing back about this they asured me this was the usual way they did it, postage ended up costing about £3. They fully refunded me including postage but this all took about a month. Try and visit a good shop in the UK.
 24.
What it says on the tin really. If any of you have been reading some of my recent posts (unlikely), you'll know I've got some major GAS for a fretless P. I was just wondering if playing a fretless will make me better at playing bass in general? So will I notice a difference goign back to my fretted Jazz? I'm wondering whether I should save up for a fretless or jsut get a Yamaha BB
Of course it will. You will have to THINK about hand position, notes, easier ways to play riffs n' scales n' songs in general. Going back to fretted will be refreshing and interesting to see which you will ultimately stay with more often.
 25.
hey guys, im after some advice im looking to get some new rig over the next few months and its gonna be expensive. im considering getting it insured against theft and breakage etc. some of my current stuff is insured under the house insurance, but obviously it dont stay in the house. im sure there is some kind of instrument insurance, just wondering if anyone knows any companies or has it themselves that can point me in the right direction. any help would be appreciated
Try Victor C Knight, 0208 351 2400, used them for years, they broker to Allianze. eg. currently a £7.800 cover costs approx £130 and double bass is included but I seem to remember they put that into "classical" instrument cover for me.
