SOLD... £5 Includes UK postage. Ongoing clearout of stuff.... This is a spacer "bar" for a Schaller 4 string (bass) bridge in black. Unused as far as I can tell and 3mm thick (I have a few and the others have been used) . Sits neatly under the bridge, can add a bit of "weight" to the bridge structure (and yes, I know that can start a discussion for weight versus sound etc.!) but it does agood job for helping the string height on some instruments. (I think it can cost about £9/10 shipped from a shop normally). You can send a cheque or PayPal as a gift to me.
It's a lovely looker. My only worry would be that disassembling it regularly would stress the crap out of the strings.
Maybe not . I've found strings (good ones) don't mind being "un" tuned, it is a quick trick on a gig (electric bass) if strings sound dull to detune them a few tones, snap them a few times then retune. Seems to brighten them up a bit, enough for the gig. Maybe the longer scale double bass strings would be the same? What a great idea though as some of the travel basses don't really look that great and this Chadwick seems to have been really well thought through.

Compact, light DI box that's great but not too expensive?
What DI boxes should I be looking at? I already have the hartke vxl but I'm thinking about something small, simple and good no tone shaping or drive etc but better than the di on my lm2. How do people find the ART and Samson boxes? And as I play passive basses do I have to have an active di box? I don't like the Idea of relying on batteries. I'm sure I could use my zoom 9.1 but the di lead would then be trailing across the stage. I just don't always trust those knackered old £20 behringers that seem to get slapped on top of my amp at so many gigs.
I am using the Mark Bass DI unit and very happy with it too. It is passive and many sound engineers in live and studio situ have commented on the positive way the unit works. -
Thanks all. I contacted MB, who gave me Proels details. They did seem pretty inept - they didn't actually know it has a 2 year warranty.....so it is still under gurantee! However, I have to contact the shop where I bought it, who have to contact Proel, who then give the shop a returns number which they give to me.....and then I have to somehow ship the cab to Proel for repair! Worse thing is, they (Proel, the UK importer) have a chap who comes in twice a week - and apprantly, there's a large backlog so they don't know how long it will take! I couldn't believe waht I was hearing. TBH, I've found a place locally, in Maidstone, and I may take it there. I need it fixed ASAP, and the hasssle involved with the warranty just seems like a major pain......and a major wait!
Good stuff it is in warranty then. Proel market a lot of other stuff alongside MarkBass so the twice a week engineer likely has a big workload. Also, I would of thought which ever shop you bought it from should have told you there was a 2 year warranty.
I use a Markbass New York 121 Cab, which I use with my MB 121 amp. However, the NY cab has started to crackle and fizz loudly whenever I play. I've changed leads, etc, but it's still there. It's been well looked after, always cased and never really pushed too hard either. The amp is fine - tried that on it's own and all's well. Has anyone got any ideas what's happening here? It's out of warranty so I am a little concerned. I also wouldn't have a clue who to take it to.....I am in Tenterden, Kent. Has anyone had a similar experience with these, or with another brand? Please help!!
Re: JTUK's reply .... same as that, I had similar (peavey cab) problems several years ago. It was cabinet's internal (infernal) crossover that was going out of commission. As JTUK says, if isolating the speaker staright to the amp is possible this could narrow down the problem.
Having just got a new Jazz bass, and being the type of person who likes to waste money i want to upgrade the pups in the HW-one. Ive got a set of Wizard custom 74's in my CV Jazz and these sound great with that bass but i want something a bit more full range and sparkly if thats possible. A more modern tone rather than vintage i guess. I've heard great things about the Ultra Jazz pups but cant get to try them. Any thoughts, suggestions most welcome.
The Ultra pickup had its' mid range scooped out a bit, better for a better slap bass sound, so I was told a few years ago by Dimarzio UK's rep.
As new condition with custom padded cover. Only gigged a couple of times in conjunction with a Mark 2x10. Great cab but I have my eye on something else, and am just trying to gauge interest in this. It is the most recent model (i.e stackable with other Markbass cabs), stupidly light and very pokey even when used alone. Asking £375. Located in Canterbury, Kent. Cheers
PM sent
Fender fretless basses (and possibly others) have two dots to mark the 12th fret position. That's fine but the dots are half an inch apart. Which dot is the actual fret position? My guess is it's right down the middle but I'm far from sure...
If the bass has "fretlines" where the frets used to be, then the 12th/octave note should be on the 12th fretline itself. If the bass has no fretlines, the 12th /octave note should be in line with the second of the two dots.
Pictures attached. ( August 5th update... some individual USA Bass Player mags now sold off, hopefully I've edited the list correctly). USA Bass Player mags from Spring 1990 to 2006 Guitarist magazines from Feb 89 to Nov 1994 and some extra odd ones along the way. I have a whole lotta mags in pretty good nick that I'd like to clear away folks. Can't figure on a price so a fair offer is acceptable (plus postage if needed). Some of these can be found on Ebay at £6+ per copy. PLEASE NOTE ... not every monthly copy is in each collection.
Bump
Hi all. I`d like to buy a Godin A4 bass from Canada at a very favourable price. Has anybody had any experience of taxes due, (customs etc.) especially as this is a commonwealth country?
After complaining once to HM Customs about charges, which amazingly including an extra freight charge for a carrier to take it to and from customs at the airport, the officer advised that if I had a friend in mainland Europe, I could actually get the guitar sent to them first, re addressed/posted from Europe to me with no UK import tax. Haven't tried it but that may work although possible postage charges may lessen the financial gap.
Yeah, funnily enough I went straight over there for a look (hadn't thought before) and stuck a bid on! Are you thinking of getting rid of odd issues or are you keeping the guitarist mags together? I might be interested in ones I haven't got (although might prove to much £££ to mail?)
As you are an "unknown" location, I couldn't hazard a guess for postage. I would obviously like to sell as a separates or whole collection ie: Guitarist mags/Bassist etc. but I guess time will tell how they all go. Keep posted. cheers

Gillento was a pleasure to deal with all the way through comms and collecting the Aguilars from me in Luxembourg. How lucky was that! Great stuff, thanks.

The man from Devon kept good comms. all the way so it was a pleasure to hear the Aguilar 112 survived the courier's trip. Nice one and thanks.
