Nice rig! How noisy are the fans in the Crown?

A nice 12" cab build with one of these in it? http://www.hypex.nl/product/2012-11-23-13-44-01/2012-11-23-13-46-04/psc2-700.html Gobs of power + DSP on board. What's not to love?

There is no denying it, they are lush.

While Newtone made my F# set they also made me a set of roundwounds to go on my EUB 41" scale tuned an octave down. If they work I will prob go fretted EUB rather than Dingwall.

The Furry Leopard was a total fluke. I got it for nothing, I spent £2K on refurbing it and putting a 5 string neck on it and I have never ever had DB GAS.

There is no one bass to rule them all. It is just fun having a change now and again. You have no idea how a custom will sound until it is built. I know this from expensive experience.

If I was near, I would totally have that just to put in the corner of the room.

I have Berg IP love in my life. Believe me I have tried to find a replacement but cannot. If he made a lighter series I would buy one now. My considered opinion is that the action is in the DSP. Yes, they are great cabs but the real action is in the active EQ specically for the cab and the multi band compression. The real question is how do we replicate that? All the grown up PA cabs use extensive DSP. Configuerable DSP is now available with lower end PA power amps. It is beginning to be possible to run a mastering app with detailed EQ and multi band compression within your iPad. The company say only on recorded material. Others say it can be inserted into another app to make it work. I am certainly going to try. A lot of people talk about pure tone and no processing etc. I understand the argument but it applies to exactly 0% of any recorded tone we have heard. If an IP with less weight is the question, DSP is at least 50% of the answer.

Duo tone ash/alder body thing. If I had paid full whack for a CS P in blonde I would be hugely sad to have a great big go faster stripe down the middle of the body.

I have emailed them about using the mastering doobrie in real time.

Anyone using the iPad to do front end DSP for their rigs? Parametric EQ + Multiband compression + Limiting etc etc etc

I hugely enjoyed the Fearless as well as the Crazy 8 and anything PJB I plugged into. And trying Guts. And the GB into my cabs. I enjoyed it all really. The vibe was good. I did not enjoy not being able to slap but am grateful for the attempts to teach me.

I usually love to take credit for things I did not do, but in this case I cannot. All I did was make a suggestion. Roger actually did all the spade work and made it happen. If it was left up to me we would still be discussing venues. All thanks should henceforth by directed at Roger.
