A while ago i sold a bass to a forum member called jamiejames. The bank transfer was agreed and i arranged for the bass to be shipped on the same day, bass was collected but no money turned up To cut a long story short, the guy has basically turned his phone off and is refusing to pay for it. I have a ton of information on him with pictures linking him to this site and the band he plays with, including all his messages and the feedback he left me. I have an address, phone number, facebook, band site, youtube page, details of band members with available phone numbers. Also i have details of other projects he has been involved with such as films and agencies, all of which will have contact details I rang the police today, they are round the corner from his address yet i was told it is not a police matter. Despite having written confirmation of the sale and the fact he has received the bass, it is not a theft as foolishly i sent the bass without reveiveng payment first. NOT A THEFT! My only option is to pursue private legal action (over a £173 loss) or make a trip down to Glasgow. I suppose i am just gutted at the police being, yet again, totally useless when they are needed. The least i expected was for them to pay him a visit so he knows he is having his collar felt. I have done all the work for them and have loads of information on the guy, if i was in Glasgow i could easily track him down, let alone if i was a copper round the corner! Whaddyd reckon? PS no "should have known better" / "chalk it up as experience" replies please, i know this is partly down to my naiveity and don't need patronising. I'd like some constructive advice If anyone knows of his whereabouts, please get in touch via pm The guy is called Jamie (James Bryce i think) He lives/lived on Queens Drive, Glasgow He plays with the T Rex tribute band "Hot Love" around the Glasgow area Check out: http://www.midge-hotlove.co.uk/id4.html http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RQsmadOwBLM...359e00d0c51074e He's the guy in the tartan pants He has been in a few small Scottish films such as "Dark Nature" He was setting up a bass shop in Glasgow called the Bass Space His facebook is also under jamiejames, his shop has a facebook site called bassspace EDIT for manners!

Very well specc'd too

Btw if you message that eBay seller he may post them. As they're not too big you might be able to stick them in one box depending on weight Interparcel will ship boxes for around £8. Tell him you can book it in online to be collected from him, all he has to do is pack it. You can email him the labels to print at his end. I've done this a few times with collection only listings

Most gigs you'll be going throught he PA and just using your amp as backline, still with a loud drummer you'd need something decent unless there's good monitors I started gigging with a Trace Elliot Commando 100w combo and tbh it was too quiet. Have a look at Peavey combos as i've always found those to be plenty loud enough, if it has an output for an extension cab you can get much more out of it with a borrowed cab (or PA bass bin/full range cab) You can get a stupidly good gigging rig for around £300 nowadays on the second hand market, especially as small lightweight rigs have devalued the Peavey/Carlsbro type stuff. Also bear in mind that the extra £50-£100 is future-proofing yourself a bit. I ended up upgrading pretty quickly when it would have been cheaper just to take the hit in the first place.
and again to £850..... only £50 more than I sold it to him for, how much will ebay fees be?
Offer him £799! -
i've dropped it to £400, but still no-one, i could go further but then i'm at a loss with anything i want tobuy - catch22!!! TBH though, i have seen and played a few us ones that really were poorer quality than this one!! i guess Skoda syndrome comes into it - built as highly as vw but its the badge that puts people off!!!
Don't expect a sale straight away! I stuck a nice bass on here for £65 the other week and it still took a day or two Leave it a week or two, chances are only a small percentage of BCers will have seen the ad, let lone considered buying it. Stuff takes a while to sell, give it a bump every week and keep an eye on the wanted section and also on trades

Always nice to hear good customer service. Wren and Cuff are also ace, sent me a part from accross the pond free of charge even though i bought the pedal second hand, very dedicated and pleasant bunch of guys

I had a look at that before, nice bass! Maybe a little overpriced, however basschat prices tend to be quite a bit cheaper than the going rate. My Warmoth fretless has been up for sale for months and months, that's a premium wood Jazz with top quality components and a great build with a good case for £370. It'll go, just gotta wait until someone wants it! One thing that irks me is that i initially refused a great trade for a bass which later sold for over £500. Live and learn i guess! Also bear in mind that it's not everyone's idea of a Fender Jazz, the more typical styles are always more popular and tend to go pretty quickly

Does anyone know this bass and Do some basses slap better than others?
Like this?
That's the brand i was thinking of. Notice how the bass is different to the one on the box! -

I thought Liberty was a budget range, something to do with Tanglewood? They did Ps and Js, also Tanglewood Rebel style basses IIRC Maybe the bass just hasn't got a good inherent slap sound, some do slap better than others. Be aware that good technique is probably the most important factor in a good slap (or any) sound, irrelevant of the bass -
Always try and have a poo. Seriously, nothing impacts on your performance more than wanting to crimp one out two minutes into Set 1, Song 1.
Good choice of words! +1 though, i always try to fire one out before the gig

Maybe they know about your dislike of Warwick basses?
