Will they fit the old brass just-a-nut to the new neck? Worth asking them in case you get the plastic one which isn't as good I think my Fortress has had a new neck somewhere down the line (2005 to be exact!) but still has the brass nut and "West Germany" stamped machineheads, so i assume they retro-fit the old hardware onto the new neck

SOLD (Hartke kickback 15, 120W combo)

The guys on the Warwick forum are really helpful, they should give you a better idea Just out of interest what sort of money would you be looking at if you were to sell the bass? Not that i should really be considering buying it!
Very, very overrated; lousy music - definitely no soul whatsoever. I'll take a good simple bass groove in the pocket of a nice melody anytime!
Jaco, no soul? Really? Also he's laid down more than a few simple grooves in his time, check out "I Can Dig It Baby". Definition of in the pocket right there

You mean Mania bass? http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=h...sa%3DN%26um%3D1 Remind me of the Peavey Cirrus, in a good way!
But I have to say technicality for its own sake (eg that dreadful Alain Caron slap-fest clip on BC recently) leaves me absolutely cold.
+1 on this too. That clip sounds like someone dropping a box of cutlery down the stairs!
I think a lot of people knock Jaco because he is otherwise held in universal high regard - a kind of 'anti' statement. IMHO, no-one has improved on what he did at the heights of his career as a player and musician. There are those that have taken the bass elsewhere and done other wonderful things but Jaco's thing was, at its best, timeless and unsurpassed.
+1 on this
As I posted similarly in a recent thread, I had this with a low B string on a set of Labella flatwounds. I played the bass at a rehearsal and then a gig within the space of 2 weeks and then the string core snapped mid gig. I put another string on, and it was fine. Could be as simple a fix as that. I hope your new set works!
I had a set of La Bella Hard Rockin' Steels with the same problem a few years ago. The next set i tried sounded great but i broke a string on their first gig so went off the brand after that!

Series / parallel wiring diagram for double-pickup basses
lemmywinks replied to NickH's topic in Repairs and Technical
Cheers! I'll be getting this done to my fretless Jazz in the new year. With series/parallel switching and a piezo bridge it's gonna be ace! -
No worries Gareth, hope you enjoy it! Here's mine btw, a tenner more expensive but in sunburst (which i prefer) with the scratchplate removed as i hate the look of white scratchplates! The ZVex Mastotron was £70 odd new wasn't it? Great little fuzz pedal +1 on some of the Danelectro stuff. A bit flimsy and sometimes noisy but the two i've used give great nasty bass sounds. I have the Black Liquorice and it's a monster bass pedal. £12 off eBay too!
Do I need another Jazz?
Do it Wayne! At that price it's worth sanding down and staining/painting. I bought mine as a cheapo backup i can just keep in a soft case and lean against a wall without fear of damaging something expensive. I thought as long as it makes a noise and stays in tune it's earnt it's keep and wasn't expecting anything great. When it arrived i couldn't put it down, the back pickup on mine is one of the best bridge jazz pickups i've heard

There was a thread detailing this a while ago, i think Warwickhunt brought it up when he was selling his Peavey Hisys 2 cabs Most PA cabs (providing they're full-range and can handle the lows) should be usable, some will be frighteningly good and make you wonder why you bother with expensive bass gear when a pair of Peaveys can be had for under £150 FWIW i had to use 2 old EV bass bins when my old cab began to rattle. They were 1 x 15" cabs and sounded better than my 2 x 15 bass cab, made me wonder if i should have stuck with them instead of getting my bass cab fixed! EDIT - Think this was it: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...hl=peavey+hisys EDIT 2 - I'm quite obviously lying, it was actually here: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...a+cabs+for+bass

+1 for obbm Anything with Neutrik connectors and Van Damme cable should be good, get nice thick cable for speaker leads Works out cheaper to make your own up especially if you can score some cheap components, they crop up on here from time to time. Or just save yourself the hassle and give obbm a shout!

Have a look at the Electric Mistress. Might be a bit out of budget but the flanger is really good, plus it's got sweet bass chorus on tap too
-
Try and pick up a Small Stone phaser, nice big, low sweeps that sound great with fuzz. I got the Nano one and it works really well with bass although the big-box one is meant to be good too Going rate is £30-£40 2nd hand but i've seen them for as little as £25 I bought it to emulate Billy Gould's sound on the Faith No More live CD, does it really well

Fake Les Paul (JapCrap) - beware
It's a genuine Les Paul copy
Haha Brings back memories! -
The wood looks really nice on that one, whether the ones they send are that good is anyone's guess though! I'd be tempted to leave it natural tbh, seems a shame to cover that grain

Mine had to go back to be fixed twice within the first month of having it. It arrived with a faulty output and later started cutting out quite regularly. I used it for occaisional practice and it wasn't reliable enough for that really I did the trick of taking it out if it's casing and it's been fine since, i'm actually starting to like it again! Taking the extra casing off improves the ventilation, weight and IMO appearance, just make sure you budget for a set of rubber feet and 8 corner protectors, those corners are sharp! As said, the tone is best described as decent, it's a bit underpowered and is most likely poorly built. Tbh i wouldn't buy another, there's a Hartke i flagged in the eBay section for £175. Much more reliable i think

I think the dings in the neck (i don't know how deep they are) make all the difference between setup preferences and actual damage, unless you prefer to play an uneven neck! It's one of the most critical playing areas and if it has significant damage then i'd be wanting a full or partial refund. If the dings are going to affect how you play every time you pick the bass up then it's quite a big deal Just my 2ps worth!
