1. Ah sod it, Red headcase will be changed for black in the next few weeks and the cab will get a dusting, it is used a lot, it's just not moved a lot
2. Yeah thought I'd be best snagging it asap, they only have 4 Minimats left and then they'll be no more. Had the preamp tube changed, selected the power valve that gave the best bass and had some caps changed, its not massively different and it's thunderous but I work on the basis that if you play an expensive bass and rig live you can't come home and plug into a 15w squire combo, so I have something that sounds very hifi at home now. Will see how recording goes with it next month
3. Picked up two new babies at the weekend, I'm now the proud owner of Quimby's Meat DI and a Bass Modified Minimat Pro for use at home. Not taking any pictures at the moment as I'm getting the headcases changed on both and a new faceplate for the Meat preamp. But yes I have a beautiful 4w amp running into my matamp 4x6 cab at home and it's such a beautiful sound so rich and full but capable of crazy gain noises all without annoying the neighbours. Pics in the next few weeks, hell might even go down next weekend to get it done
4. What's a design engineer?
5. Catalinbread sold, Rest open to offers, grab yourself a bargain.
6. Dear lord that is cheap
7. Right bit of an update. Had this serviced at Matamp over the weekend so it's now pumping out a full 14w-15w and the hiss is down to what it would have left the factory. Andrew informed me it uses a Baxandall eq, same as many amps of that era such as the Ampeg B15, it really is a fantastic sounding amp I just wanted something with a few more modern features and I'm a Matamp whore I now have a Minimat that's been modified for bass so I have no need for this at all, happy to accept crazy offers on it, hit me up people, I'd rather this go to collector as the amp is as safe and as working as it was in 1957 but that's safe for 1957 this is not an ideal starter tube amp
8.
Matamp are great - visited the factory when I got my 410. Lovely lot, great to deal with, stuff sounds incredible and honestly for what they do they really don't charge that much. Definitely looking to add another matamp to my collection. Possibly a 2x15, who knows!
Get the cross overed 1x18, game changer with the 4x10 I'm debating selling my 8x10 to move over to this setup but then I just think, bah I'll have them both
9. I met some of the guys from Dragged Into Sunlight on Saturday when I was there, real nice band and real Matamp fanatics. I've tested their prototypes of the new amps using SS power sections, you guys are in for a treat in the next few months, but please don't call them about it, they aren't taking orders for them yet. The Dragged Into Sunlight GT200 is awesome, chrome front with etched out Matamp logo that glows green.
10. Largely it doesn't make a difference but a few boosts use GE transistors and they can have issues, not always but they can.
11. Just be careful on the Phat Phuk if you use Active Basses, same goes with the Tone Factor Cream Pie that's for sale at the moment, they can be a bit hit and miss. If you use passive basses then the cream pie is an awesome buy as it will do clean boost, dirty boost, overdrive and treble boost. The Juju boost also for sale is a good clean boost/overdrive I know this because I use to own all of these and it's my old ones that are for sale, apparently I have a boost fetish.
12. I wouldn't get a treble boost, they rarely sound nice on bass especially with SS and hybrid heads. It'll give you quite a punk tone clicking something like that in, at least in my personal opinion. A full range boost like the MXR Micro Amp or a fat boost like the Fulltone Fat Boost, Catalinbread Chili or Wren and Cuff Phat Phuk would be better. I've got a Catalinbread Chili for sale at the moment if it's of any interest.
13. I wasn't but I could, obviously it wouldn't be a straight trade but if you want to hit me up with an offer I'm sure we can come to an agreement. Cheers
14. Bump, not sure I can even be bothered switching to Apogee, used this bad boy last night to learn some songs and it's so versatile as practice setup
15. Sorry to bump an old thread but I'm thinking of getting one for my 30th next year and want to take the time to find the model that's right for me. Is anyone open to me maybe making a trip to try their B-15? Many thanks in advance
16. Finally pictures For those wanting to read a bit more about it http://www.tayste.co.uk/2013/02/02/my-basses/
17. An update to this thread, got a blog going about my basses especially since I just picked up my 5th Overwater. Check it out here http://www.tayste.co.uk/2013/02/02/my-basses/ For those who can't read, here are the pictures.
18. I think for the cost of the drop head I'd like to get a vintage b-15 but that's a whole new can of worms
19. Just preference and I tune a minor 3rd below Low B so a nice big speaker would be a plus
20. Yeah I saw that and was thinking it could be perfect, I'd consider that light about as heavy as my amp head Similarly the Ampeg B100r would tick all the boxes but both are discontinued and not really in a position to act fast on it (also want to try one first)
21. So I've been a bit out of the game on this side, rocking the Matamp GT200 and 8x10 for the past few years but I'm looking at changing a few things largely around jamming and home practice and fancy a small (ish) light weight (ish) combo I was always wowed by the size and weight of the Mesa Boogie Walkabout (12inch version) so that might be a good starting point, but not really sure what's out there. I do think the following applies though:

Has to be 1x15 or 1x12
Going for a vintage styling to a degree
Has to had a tube somewhere in it or sound fairly vintagey (so no spanky clean highs and nothing with a tweeter)
Has to be a combo, not interested in light weight cabs and heads
Just weighing up my options before I see what Matamp can do me in a combo, because weight is the concern but happy to go like 30kg or so in the combo. Over that I know exactly what I'd track down (Mesa Buster 200 1x15 Combo)
22. FFS After any trades at all? *EDIT* Ignore that I read the post properly. Dammit
