Matamp 8x10
£800

Recommended Posts

So I've used this twice now with the Aguilar DB750 I'm borrowing from a friend whilst my insurance claim gets processed for all my other Matamp stuff being stolen.

Basically I've changed bands, this is too much amp for the band I'm in and I'm looking much much smaller (Ampeg B15 intact) and also if I'm honest every time I turn around I just think about all the beautiful stuff that was made at the same time that went with it, that I'll probably never see again.

Cab is rated 2400w one of the early Matamp 8x10s I bought this in October 2008 and it's loaded with Eminence drivers (as far as I know), stainless steel front grills with laser cut holes resulting in more holes than grill (allowing more sound to pass through). Cab is stereo and has two speakon inputs on the back and a switch to change it from 4ohm to 2 x 8 ohm, the great thing about this feature other than running 2 heads on it to kill people is you can run vintage tube amps at 16ohms using the 2 8 ohms in parallel.

Cab is finished in red tolex with stainless silver hardware, and will also come with a Roqsolid cover though this is pretty scuffed and ripped up.

There are a few marks in the tolex here and there but no major rips.

I've toured a lot and used a lot of 8x10's this is by far the best I've ever had, it's huge, punchy, tight and just so much low end and volume there is nothing this cab can't do.

To those worried about weight, this thing is so easy to move it kicks back and you just drag it around with 1 hand, if you do have to go up stairs it has handles on the bottom of it so unlike the usual up by your chin whilst the other person has it down by their ankles of moving a 4x10 up stairs it sits comfortably at waist height for both people (if that makes sense)

So help me out, I'm gigging at the moment and borrowing and renting amps I need something of my own and can't wait around for the insurance company to maybe give me some of my amp money back.

For those after something a bit smaller I could be tempted to part with my 2x12 (cheap)

Cheers guys

Just a note, unless you want it as a collectors piece, the B15 doesn't really cut it as a gigging amp.

This does though - http://www.65amps.com/apollo.html - the B15 sound with more oomph and greater reliability than running a 30+ year old amp. (Unless you are getting a B15 reissue of course - but they aren't the same as the old B15s anyway!)

Well it's the 30w 70's version so I'm hoping it can just about cut it, my new band are a lot quieter and we're just playing pubs and stuff, I've been able to cut practices with an 80's TNT 150 combo so should be fine.

The Matamp 8x10 and DB750 is a bit over kill for these situations now I'm not fighting for space over 2 mega loud guitarists

And yes I did look at the 65amps mmmmm shiny :D

Got a new light weight 2x12 coming this week so don't need this anymore.

Additionally Matamp have a matching red tolex in stock now so they can make you a matching GT200 or a headcase for your other favourite amp.

Grab yourself a bargain as this would cost you over £1500 today and that's if you can convince him to even make you one.
