  1. You’ll get used to fretting it, just a slight technique alteration as it will be playing the strings be it pick or fingers, it’s loads of fun having a multistring
  2. @dave_bass5 I have some wooden ones from Thalia, nice, but wear down relatively easily, I can post you one if you want and if I remember! The other one to look at is the Dava pick grip tips - the rubber grip and angling the pick slightly allows you to strike rubber and plastic together to take the click away, or rotate it slightly and use just the rubber part and it gives you a muted string sound, but more Motown. They do a mix pack with Nylon (floppier) and Delrin and another one, I forget. They even do a very thick Delrin. Worth a try. Defo get the grip tip ones (jazz grip tips are even thinner tip and smaller pick) as the other standard rock or metal ones don’t cut it for me.
  3. Aye, but it were the same fingers on that one, although we never saw his head......
  4. @Ricky 4000 yep could be, it may be the whole soup making it stand out as a cocktail, but having spent some time looking at, playing, feeling etc the tactile and density differences of a number of fingerboard materials, having previously been a skeptic it really swayed me to believing when the other parts were equal
  5. Clean on the DG is good, but it definitely is more sterile and possibly slightly thinner than others out there.
  6. For the non believers out there on neck wood not making a difference, there you have it. Maple stands out as different. same applies across the spectrum
  7. Yeah, I kinda went for distortion a little......... Dmt forget the burnt umber pedal is a 2 stage clipping fuzz silicone and germanium. you don’t want to know what else is lurking in the pipeline......it will summon the 4 horse people
  8. I would have thought the natural habit of any bass is turn up and get a plectrum out, it’s is in my household. Sounds like at some point I should probably get a Ric....
  9. Hate to spoil the party a bit but The TSBS is still very much in production. 2015 they changed to the newer body shape. Recently they use Sandberg in house pick ups instead of Seymour Duncan’s. The other change is they now offer other colours. Other than that, cracking bass and GLwTS
  10. One thing to consider is in that price range you can pick up second hand full fat Sandbergs. Unapologetcially Sandberg hands down for me, not saying the others are poo, but the whole package customer service etc. even if second hand or ‘budget’ range hammers everyone else @CameronJ will confirm that. Scheter recently have really upped their game and pumped a load of money into their R&D. You want to hear a schecter PJ in action, go listen to Robert DeLeo from Stone Temple Pilots. A bit from leftfield but don’t rule out ESP
  11. Ha! Apparently they got the idea at the previous NAMM where they unveiled their Plus sustainer pedal. Sat around watching flies getting electrocuted by that blue lamp thingy they thought, “Hmmm, I wonder if I can harness that energy and turn it into a mad science distortion pedal!”
  12. The apocalypse is nigh...when all controls dimed B6130109-7C3E-414C-9338-CE9267B0CBF4.MOV
  13. @CameronJ you are always calling me out.......🤣! Yep I have one, they are good fun, and the old picture rule i know........It’s playing nicely in a nasty way! i feel like a Jedi when I play!
  14. Status necks are an absolute beast - transforms a bass GLWTS
  15. That’s brilliant, but my gosh I would get completely lost as to where i am, massive credit to him and the size of his stack for a living room gig!
  16. Oh I like a New Years quiz - I dunno the answers so am happily waiting!
  17. Unless it’s urgent and imminent get along to one of the bass bashes advertised on here. People bring their amps to happily try, and can have great discussions. If you know what you like, then some amps use similar things/components such as fender tone stacks. Although you may not play the exact amp you want, certainly something similar will give a flavour. Problem with online stuff is you only get a snapshot, twiddle time is king
  18. This is a wildly rogue rogue and crass statement. Some of the very best musicians are sessions players, and a massive proportion of the musicians playing in ‘top’ bands have come from a session music background, and probably still do session work. The argument for split coil/single coil/humbucker/active or passive for sessions can rage on (in truth most will have all in their arsenal) but it should be conflated by denegrating a session player.
  19. But Pino was Welsh - surely we should have some discount...
  20. Great bass Great seller GLWTS
  21. Add in that the seller is a legend - it’s a good buy and GLWTS
  22. You’ll get a tonne of opinions on this from someone’s personal nirvana, to their utter hatred and your view will be different! It’s just going to be hard yards of trawling sound bites across ranges and then take time to play in the flesh. Best and only way, or buy new and if you don’t like return in the policy period.
  23. Easy to fit, easy to use, minimal weight excess, keeps either tuning rock solid, you can set it to drop what you want, semi tone, tone etc. You can even get a double stop lever to drop it 2 tones. Nice bit of kit
  24. Singular sound beat buddy
  25. Sure it plays beautifully, but I agree it’s a little steep. Having seen the care and attention Sandberg put into their bases, especially their masterpiece bases (let’s put finish aside). I would say £2-3k is a decent price and they play magnificently.
