I’ve shown you pictures of mine buddy in various states, this is what I used https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00162NPZ8?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

Schecter are bloody great, bitsa with the right parts can be done for very little money. Sandberg are brilliant and the Electra range is great value as it’s put together back in Germany so great QC. ESP often get overlooked, but again, real good bases, not even ‘for the money’. Remember a Bass is a shell, you can pick up a half decent body and whack a different pick up in it
-
Remember it’s not just fender that make good P’s, other makes do them too and neck profiles may suit you. My bitsa P with a status neck would happily compete side by side with anything the fender factory churned out, but also there is a G&L LB100 for sale on here I think, and they are killer bases too. Probably my other bitsa P with a creamery 58 pick up and tonestyler knob would also do the job. Loads to have fun with out there

No pleasing some folk! Looks a corker

Yep Dense me......prob should have scrolled back some posts, but its defo a valid option as you say, if it’s integral to your sound and cannot be reproduced another way
-
Ha! effectively your amp head can be a DI box if it is so enabled with or without a speaker load
-
The on off debate mid song/set is bunkum, we all know that it makes a difference, and we have probably all heard it making a difference. Plenty examples of a bass not even being in a band and people don’t recognise a difference. Cadillac Three have no bassist, Tower of Power recently did a gig on their tour with no bassist due to illness and the keys man filled in, most of the audience prob didn’t notice or care. The bottom line is if compression made no difference, it would cease to exist, but across all instruments (voice included) recorded and live there is compression going on. Its equally as important to have a live sound balanced as a recorded sound for the whole experience in the audience and compression will help to achieve that. Its nice to see a diagram showing what it can do, naysayers will still say nay.....

Glock Aguilar Noll East DG Even a Stingray pre amp They will all work fine
-
Yep - first hand prices are chronic. There was a rumour of a bass and I would be interested in that for sure, but I am not a small chap so it could look ridiculous
-
Ha! The FM3 though more expensive than the stomp actually makes complete sense when paired with the FC6 controller, and that brings it more in line cost-wise with Helix, Plus you have 48 blocks! My guitarist is always on the look out for a potential St Vincent, but they are hens teeth
-
Those St Vincent’s are absolute corking guitars, and musicman guitar necks are some of the best around, I quite like the looks as well. Sounds like that chap could do with the Fractal FM3

in the U.K. now!

One step ahead of you all - the prototype is underway.....

If you desk had unbalanced inputs you can go straight into it from a pedal
-
Loads of DI options as people have stated, Tech21 DP3x pedal is a massive winner for me, new Fender ‘multi Fx’ unit which has EQ compression and DI capabilities, Trickfish Trilobite, or even just a DI box and nothing before it, my radial JDI is great (and it has 2 inputs/outputs). I agree with what the others have said about a load box, you guitarist can crank and keep the volume controlled. Two Notes do great ones (captor) and their cab sim Torpedo could work a treat for him. Or if he likes new kit, Friedman have just released the JJ model either head or combo which was made alongside Jerry Cantrell of Alice in Chains, and that is 20w tubes with an internal load box, so you can just go straight out and have no speaker connected - it sounds bloody immense!

Its so filthy I wouldn’t even want to bathe after playing that, it is a wonderful example of good durty!
-
Unless the decal is precious (is it a genuine fender neck?) you could match the headstock to the body
-
Phenomenal - get popping that grain!!!
