  1. I've never had much luck with bartolini pickups - If I owned that bass I'd replace the pickups first (flog them on here) and run it passive until I had the cash to replace the preamp. What pre do you have in there currently? I'm assuming it's a Schack - IMO get it completely bypassed first (don't necessarily trust the bypass switch), it'll be easy to get it sorted with a basic vol/blend/tone passive setup so you'll know exactly what it is you don't like before you go spending £200 odd on an onboard pre - if it still sounds crap to your ears then adding a preamp isn't likely to improve it - you can't polish a turd and good pickups are infinitely more important than an onboard pre. On the other hand, you may actually like the sound of the barts without the nackered pre in getting in the way, in which case - start looking at replacement circuits.
  2. Hi Guys - if anyone is free and interested, I'm gigging with my band The Doppler Shift at The Providence in Brighton - Entry is only £1 and drinks are cheap - our myspace link should be in my sig Cheers ;D Russ

  8. Played one of these at GAK in brighton - great bass, any news on it?
  9. I'm often amazed at how good the peavey 4x10tvx sounds - silverfoxnik's peavey 4x10 w/gk 700rb was a wicked rig they are heavy though ;D
  10. That's cool - I couldn't make my mind up between the LMII and shuttle 6.0 initially, but there was nowhere to try the genz out near me and I knew I already liked the LMII. I've played through a few of the markbass combos and really haven't been that impressed either, especially when compared to a separate head/cab from them. In particular, the cmd102p, which I've used numerous times now, isn't even in the same league as my LMII + 102HF cab setup. I'd still like to try a shuttle out of curiosity at some point ;D
  11. A crappy pic and now out of date - I'm running an LMII instead of the GK.
